Frenkie De Jong, not a rumour but apparently for sale

He was the best player for Barcelona when he came yesterday in my opinion.

He was the only player that could actually move the ball forward properly with a high tempo and quality. Proper player for a buildup.

Hey @Gol15 a little hope for ya. According to the Telegraph FDJ has made us his preferred side to join IF he is forced out of Barca.

He isn't going to be forced though so no point of wasting time on him anymore

Definitely not a player we want then. We don't need players moving the ball with tempo and quality, let alone moving it forward....good job we have given this a big body swerve then.

He was the best player for Barcelona when he what? 👀

I've never been fully convinced we were actually interested in him. Most of the reliable journalists have said that Tuchel wanted three defenders this summer, two wingers and maybe a striker which adds up to the rumoured 6 players we were going to sign. I'm beginning to suspect this was an attempt by De Jong's agents to wither get Chelsea interested or force Man Utd's hand.

Romano mentioned Chelsea being interested in him multiple times, and he's pretty much bang on with everything he mentions.

That being said, I don't think we need anymore CM players.

Xavi after the initial statements casts some doubts on De Jong's future after saying that "if he stays" that he'll "be an important player".

I still can't believe he's happy to be paid half as much and coming in from the bench in the opening match.

I find it hard to believe that anyone would want to remain at a club where they are openly trying to screw you on your contract, plus inciting fans to protest against you and abuse you, and especially so when there is an attractive alternative immediately available elsewhere ...

I think they are using their status and situation to soften people. I mean if Pique and Busquets are ready to play for free they know how to twist a nipple. I am okay people going sentimental, no problem but having to suffer from someones total lack of knowledge how to do business is something these players need to think about. They have done their bit, the club is not.

Anyway I think De Jong stays there and their circus keeps on rolling. Again I don't think he is a players we necessarily need.

Surely the magic of playing for a big name like Barcelona wears off after experiencing something like that.

Barca ideally want to keep him, henis a fine player, however if they do decide to push him out they have a sour relationship with us, (super league, this seasons transfers) as shown by Depay being a free transfer option for Juve but Auba a 30mill player to us, they will push him to United.

We should simply ask for Alonso and Auba swap or slap an equivalent price tag on Alonso. We should stick it up to these barca termites.

It certainly would for me !

Maybe De Jong is a bit of a cuck or something ... 🙂

Yet a week prior to that was playing him as a CB to try to force him out.

We'd get fck all for Alonso. I would actively try to get him a move to anywhere else in Spain or don't let him go at all and he can see out his contract here. Fck em

Harsh on such a fantastic servant for the club to force him to sit for a year as 3rd or 4th choice left back.

Alonso has earned his move if we don't intend to use him at all this season we shouldn't stand in his way at all.

The the thing. We treat our players with respect. Barca blackmail, backstab and harass their players just to save money.

FdJ acted in good faith when he postponed part of his wages but now he's been backstabbed by those in charge. Its just f**king pathetic.

I'd much prefer to see us treating our players with respect rather than become the sh*tty operation being run at barca.

I don't disagree but we need to make a stand against Barcelona. This f*ckery cannot continue.

Just been listening to Marcel van der Kraan on Sky about all of this and he is bang on with it.

Good chance for Gallagher to shine. Lets not forget that boy can play.

You're right bud.I thought he did ok in his cameo.

You can see the potential. Just needs minutes and familiarity with his teammates.

Nah we should tell them to F off. He has a contract and can more than, even as 3rd or 4th choice, come up with the goals you are so quick to remind us all your favorite player to deride comes up short with.
