February 8, 20242 yr His best game was City at home and he only played like because it was his old team and he wanted to prove Pep wrong.

But the attempted finish, when Palmer gave him the ball in acres of space in their box, was typical Sterling. An awful first touch meant a good chance was gone.
February 13, 20242 yr Seems to me that Sterling gets judged by a different standard than everyone else in our team. Alongside Palmer he's been our best attacker by far this season and created the opening for our winning goal last night so not entirely sure what the problem is.

Sterling isn't going to improve and I'm convinced that the way he plays makes our team worse, not better. And I'm sorry but in a team with no real striker, in the way he plays, a goal every 335 minutes, shouldn't have anyone saying he is our best attacker. I've always hated Sterling and his style of play, every club he's been at and for england. Edited February 13, 20242 yr by bisright1
February 13, 20242 yr Guess who said: "Chelsea's FA Cup victory over Aston Villa last midweek was impressive, but I wasn't convinced they could repeat the same performance against Crystal Palace in the league. For 45 minutes I was right. Chelsea were slow, laborious and altogether dull, and Palace deserved their first-half lead. Suddenly Raheem Sterling comes on and Chelsea find a spark and a rhythm to their game."
February 14, 20242 yr "Gallagher and Cole Palmer start to come alive and you start to ask yourself: why wasn't Sterling on the park from the start?" Sorry, lost my chance to edit had to pop out... IMHO, he wasn't on from the start because most of the time he's crap, occasionally turns up and puts in a full shift but very predictable and tends to seek glory for himself over the team. Obviously Garth Crooks thinks differently... looks like he only included Gallagher in his team of the week so he could whinge about Sterling not starting - wot a plonker.

February 14, 20242 yr Quote Chelsea are planning to move on from a number of big names this summer and Raheem Sterling is one of those who does not have a long term future at Stamford Bridge - @GraemeBailey I imagine it's this lot. Sterling Silva W.Fofana Cucurella

February 14, 20242 yr If Sterling doesn't get into the Euro 2024 squad I can see him being open to leave as long as Al-Whothafuq come in with a £500k pw package.

If it happens it will be the final nail in the coffin because it clearly won't have been a football decision or one that's come from the manager or anyone with any interest in seeing us compete on the pitch.

Mudryk and Madueke are not dead wood, they are developing players and they should get some game time and some minutes from the bench. So far they have been okay. They need to do more. AND Sterling is a good player. He's a very good player. I don't think he was ever the right type of player for us. He would not be in my ideal Chelsea starting line-up, but i would have started him against sh1tty teams like Palace - because they park the bus and that is when you need more experienced players. Sterling could still play a useful role in our squad this season.

Getting rid of Silva and Sterling would be ridiculous if they aren't replaced properly.

They haven't been ok. they're players you'd expect to see coming off the bench at Luton or Southampton but nothing to suggest either will ever be Chelsea calibre players Palmer is younger than both, there's a massive gulf in ability between a real top young talent and the deadwood we've signed. It isn't about Sterling specifically but if we're moving experienced better performers on and keeping struggling kids while we sign more kids we're in big big trouble.

February 14, 20242 yr Essentially why we need European football next season, no matter what competition. This one match a week stuff doesn't do anyone any good. That being said, the fact players are dropping like flies and Poch complaining about fatigue, in a one match a week season, leaves me very worried.

Oh that would be very silly. Unless we are loaning them out? I mean Chalobah will most likely move on. Badiashille, Disasi and Colwill will still be with us. Wes Fofana most likely with us too. imho - my very humble opinion we could need an experienced CB to replace Thiago. As we know it is all about 'balance' and not about stats and potential.
