In addition to him I have seen it reported that the following joined at:

Sterling 350k a week

Fofana 200k a week

Cucurella 200k a week

Aubameyang 160k a week

Utter madness. Sterling being on a larger contract is kinda understandable, he's a serial winner at domestic level (350k is still too much though) but Fofana and Cucurella have done nothing to be earning that kind of money.

Scott, with respect mate, that post reads like a politician has scripted it! It's just navel gazing and hindsight. There is no detail in how YOU would change it? I too wouldn't have sacked Tuchel at the point we did, but there were obviously deep, deep problems between him and some of the players, (player power again?), and when he fell out with the new owners too there was only one outcome.

I agree with the point about the money being paid, I'm sure most people on here do. But that isn't going to change anytime soon Scott  At least not if we want to keep players like James and Mount. Do you want to keep James and Mount? I still have no real idea of who you would keep and who you would get rid of. I think we did/do need a rebuild. We are lacking in so many areas. Lack any genuine physical presence, lack any real pace, (Broja was the only one), lack any aerial threat, lack a consistently solid keeper and apart from Silva, desperately lack any kind of leader. And in all my years following Chelsea, I have never seen us have the number of serious injuries we have picked up this year.

Not having a go at you Scott, but as I said, I'd love to know who you would pick for tomorrow's game?

I don't even know who is match fit for tomorrow in all honesty 😆

I would be a serial winner if I was part of the city squad and I am fat, unfit and have ball skills that make Baka look like Messi!

On the matter of handing out big contracts only to players who prove themselves at a consistent level, what have Cucurella and Fofana proved? The former one single season in our league, the latter spending more time injured than playing.

I’d start benching Koulibaly if firm continues. Bloke has no incentive given his wage.

Now you see why I have long labeled him and Sterling as being on retirement contracts, and why I label them alongside Cucrella and Fofana as Mercenaries. This is the exact same stuff Arsenal did when they spent what? More than a decade as a nothing club.

I’d happily ‘delay’ their justice if it means avoiding Arsenal lifting the title tbh. Anything but Arsenal but when it rains it pours.. club in the mud and Arsenal winning the league, like a lottery of misery.

I hate Arsenal as much as anyone else but someone needs to break City monopoly and it’s not going to be us this or next season. If they win I just stay away from anything football until the league starts back.
If City won it again it just reinforces to them their questionable financial methods keep working. They should have been banned from the CL for two seasons.

Liverpool already broke their streak so it doesn’t really matter if Arsenal go and do it again 2 years later.

They will never be banned, they will never be dealt with, they will keep getting away with it, so unfortunately there isn’t much point stressing over justice. I’d rather them again than Arsenal and their unbearable supporters for which the celebrations and gloating will stretch far beyond spring/summer.

World Cup break yet everything comes back the same.

Arsenal win no matter whether they are good or poor? Check.

Newcastle continue good run? Check.

Liverpool continue their resurgence? Check.

Spurs keep making comebacks? Check.

Therefore Chelsea tomorrow...

gets booed by the crowd at the final whistle?

James is top 1-3 right backs in the world and we had Real sniffing around.

Contract talks have been delayed with Mount so maybe the club don’t value him as they do James.

Based on 1 season? Still no justification for making him the best paid defender in the league. You just don’t throw money at players based on their performances in one season, and Madrid’s interest was never concrete just an idea put in the media by James’ team to leverage a fat contract. They were never going to pay the £100m we would have demanded, or £250k/w for a young player.  They have moved away from the Galactico era, and it goes against their current policy of signing potential stars before they become too expensive, or players on expired contracts.
As pointed out he is also injury prone, missing on average 1/3 of our league games since he broke through. No way should he be on those wages, especially considering there was no pressure. Bumping up his wages 4x his prior is utter madness. The knock on effect is Mount, Kovacic will demand parity because the club is throwing silly wages around.

Reece?

I don't think it is even a question anymore that he is one of the best rb in PL or maybe even the best.

Not often I disagree with you RMH, but I think it's obvious Arsenal are miles better than us at the moment. More pace, more physical presence, more creativity and a real cutting edge. TBH they have consistently played the best football I have watched in the EPL this season.

Nightmare for sure. But at least it ain't Tottenham.

That’s what I’m saying. They’re playing well, they have the drive but, much like our team under Conte, they haven’t got the best team nor the best coach. We’re sh*t this season, since the start, with a very weak and uncreative midfield. Arsenal are playing much better than us, but that doesn’t mean that they are a better team than City or even Liverpool. They’re over performing this season and City are underperforming, adapting their game to Haaland. I agree that better them than Spurs.

So let’s replace him with a player who too gets mugged off by Arsenal?

Thought the whole selling point for Rice was that we’d be strong defensively and avoid the Jorginho liability?

The excuses are starting already and he hasn't even arrived yet.

But the thing is with Mount we have pretty much a replica of him in the squad which is hopefully going to be reflected in talks.

As much as I want Mount to sign I don't think we lose much if atall if we lose him and Gallagher takes the baton.

Reece on the other hand there's no one even remotely attainable that can offer the level he does.

Oh @justnever change eh?

Worth pointing out Arsenal are succeeding not because of 71mill man Pepe, not by bringing in hasbeens who don't give a sh*t about their club, but buying hungry players like Gabriel and Odeguard to compliment their youth, who scored scored first two goals and an ex Chelsea youth got the third.

But sure keep buying mercs  like Cucurella and fofana who abandon their teams for big pay increases after one season only/a long term injury they were supported through, and put players like Auba, Sterling and Koulibaly and retirement contracts and expect it brings success.

Odegaard has been a relly good signing for the gooners. He is exactly the sort of player we are missing. Oh to have someone like him in the midfield rather than Jorginho or Kovacic.

Really hope we don't sign Rice as as good a player he is, just don't think he's what we need - not creative enough and it will just be more of the same (unless we signed someone like Bellingham too but there is ZERO chance of that!)

Being reported that the Vegas NBA expansion franchise will purchase a stake at Liverpool for $4b.

United also are reported to have an alleged buyer before Q1 of 2023.

 Both staying under American ownership?
