He is good going forward, but an awful defender; think a right footed Alonso . What is the thinking here? Move James permanently to RCB? Won’t that take away James’ biggest attribute, which is his biggest strength?

He's poor in tight areas and his a horrendous crosser of the ball. A genuine poor man's Bosingwa in my eyes.

Well Spurs signed a RB for £18m, Liverpool one for £6m, and Inter is demanding £30m+ for Dumfries who they signed last summer for £13m. At least the manager will get his signings. And they said Marina made awful signings.

I'd genuinely keep Sterling over wasting any money on Dumfries. 

We need to get better scouts. We should be picking up players before they make it to another big club and their price goes up 1000%.

 

This is what worries me. £60m on a right wing back forcing James into right centre back, and pushing us into playing a back 3 for the forseeable future. 

Bizarre transfer strategy to after Dumfries.

Its starting to feel desperate. I think we will end with Adama Traore. 

Surely Tuchel has to pick formation then bring in players for the positions he needs? It looks like we trying to buy any decent player, then Tuchel will pick the formation on what we end up with. 

Crazy squad building. Almost guaranteed to leave us with even more deadwood in a couple of seasons time. 

We have tried to hijack, Richarlison, Jesus, and Mukiele. 

We have been hijacked for Raphinha and Kounde. 

We were in for Ake, De ligt, and now Dumfries.

We have signed Sterling and Koulibaly. 

I cant see what the plan is. Looks like a complete mess. 

 

A no from me, not good enough. Should give Dujon the role of backing up James.

We’re interested in Dumfries? I hope this is an attempt to make Barcelona go for him.

This is a good point isn't it, if he is that poor. As i say i have only seen him a couple of times playing for the Netherlands. Why bother shipping our Sterling if the alternatives are so limited.

I have only watched him a few times playing for the national team. He looks decent going forward at least. Is it possible that we would consider him as cover for both RWB and also as a forward?

The thing is i always thought that we should have played Alonso up top. Okay mobility may be an issue but he is no less mobile than Lukaku and he can have a wand of a left foot on occasion and defends like sh*t. No manager here has ever seemed to explore that though

This better to be a decoy, get Barca to bid for him, and we sign a Central Defender else where. If James move to the central defence, expect him to play the Azpi position. I'm sure he could do it, but why all the troubles just because we can't sign a CD without Barca f* it up. how many defenders do they need? they dont even play back 3 🤐

Denzel an option? Maybe. He is on the list, but not near the top.

he has the most touches in the penalty area of all FB's in all mayor competitions. Attacking wise his stats are similar to Reece's 

I miss the old days, when defenders were bought on their ability to defend. And goalkeepers were bought on their ability to make saves.

Apparently our plan is for him and the bloke with the nice bonnet fron Brighton to compete with, and rotate with, James and Chilwell.

Inter need cash so this deal may drag as we try and get the price down.

Ideal is Chilwell and Dunfries are pure out and out wingbacks, and Marc C and Reece are CB, Fullback and wingback options providing versatility where we could in theory play all of them:

Dunfries

James

Koulibaly 

Marc C

Chilwell

Why are we offering Inter any money at all? Since we have already sent Lukaku to fat camp with them, can't we just do a swap? 

Inter have rejected our first offer of 25mill euros. Apparently they want 40mill euros but may settle for 35mill euros

I think it’s an overpriced deal considering PSG let him leave for a much lesser fee a year ago. He seems ok at attacking for the Netherlands I suppose it would enable Dave to go to Barca as James as said above can play in the 3 if needed. 35 mill if accurate seems too much but Todd Bully is staggering around Europe trying to spend his dosh like a drunken sailor…….
