Agreed, Bosingwa is rubbish, Belletti and Ferreira (still the best crosser in the squad) are too old, and that Ivanović kid is unproven. Could be England's next starting right-back after Glen Johnson if he can stay injury-free.

Mendy - Still making big mistakes which will cost us points. Hopefully he can make up for it by earning us more than he loses.

Loftus-Cheek - Actually surpsingly good as a RWB going forward, but he can't defend to save his life. So against any half decent attack, he would struggle there. Can't see him fitting into the midfield anywhere though. So either a backup RWB or sell.
Mount - Still our best player.
Barkley - Why is he still here? Back to Everton hopefully.
Gallagher - Think he did enough to warrant a rotation spot this season. I see him rotating with Kante as the box-to-box type.
Gilmour - No change from his year on loan. Still looks reasonably tidy, but still looks lightweight and very easy to bypass. Kind of like Jorginho, but not quite as good. Maybe needs another loan, somewhere he will actually play.
Pulisic - Can score in America. Elsewhere, still runs down blind alleys.
Werner - Should hopefully be leaving.
Kenedy - Is wasting his career. 26 and he's still here going out on terrible loans every year. Just leave for f**k sake.
Havertz - Still talented but incredibly inconsistent and not someone you want to be relying on as your main striker.
Sterling - Looks good.
Broja - Will fit right in with our strikers who miss big chances. 
Vale - Nowhere near first team level. If he wants to progress from the dev squad, maybe a loan to the championship?
 

Kovacic - relegated to forgotten man status

Granted it is "stats" but it is based on actual observed behaviour in matches. I think as a rule of thumb they pan out quite well.

Gallagher wasn't as impressive at Palace last season as the headlights have made people think. A few early goals to catch the eye, and a good performance against Man City, but an awful lot of bang average performances in the second half of the season, no goals after mid-February, and no assists after mid-November. I bet most people weren't aware of either of those little titbits ...

A certain ex-director of ours won "Best Club Director in European football" not that long ago, and yet that unravelled quite quickly once someone had a proper look at the actual performance in the role.

We all like Gallagher, as he seems to have an excellent attitude, and is "homegrown". But you can't gloss over the observation that he was bang average in the second half of the season, when the goals and assists completely dried up. 

He'll need to address his weaknesses and improve a lot if he wants to get in our starting XI.  

Let's hope he does !

And some are way too reliant on the stats, when whoever that works with data know how easily they can be misinterpreted and misleading. 😉

The fact that he’s won young player of the season (I believe that’s over all PL players, not a club award) and won the votes of the fans, which I generally value over any stats, is good for me to know that those statistics are not right. And, by the way, I am one of those that argues that our own Marina Granovskaia is not the devil herself and did an overall good job, with its bad outcomes but with great deals like Kovacic Jorginho or Kante, which many forget.

Like any young player, he needs to improve and keep learning, but he’s nowhere near as bad as those stats you posted make him, imo.

I take your point about "stats", and I even mentioned that in my original post, BUT you cannot possibly dispute the output of goals and assists falling off a cliff.

Last assist of the season on 20th November against Burnley. Last goal of the season 23rd February against Watford.

Anyway, like I said, I hope he plays himself into the starting XI.

Well, we’ve got Jorginho, Kante and Kovacic in the midfield, who have a total goals and/or assists of… If his input into the team had been as worse as the numbers show, the Palace supporters would have shown their annoyance and, more importantly, Vieira would not have kept playing him. Those numbers are true, but don’t tell the whole story of what a player brings to the team.

The extreme heat tried to murder all the lettuce for @CaitlinCFC though, you can see it’s not doing to great in the planter there.

And there was meself thinking Gallagher had an excellent first half today. But I guess like Kante yesterday he doesn't score enough goals. But  I know you know that already as you posted the stats which undoubtedly, always, tell the full story.
