He's been playing a bit better recently, but if a team comes in offering 60m+ we should sell, he's been far too inconsistent since he came here

Pattern recognition. He sprung to form this time last season as well. A lot of his inconsistencies are down to his physicality and clumsy stature. Just not made for the premier league and to get the best out of him we’d have to tailor this current false 9 set up where it restricts our other attackers.

Rather sell Havertz, bring in Nkunku and get a proper goal scorer. One that’s carefully scouted.

So if you are second to your main rivals that’s considered poor and you are sacked but 10th in the league, carry on gov, your job is safe with us!!

FFS!!!

i think they had to do it now, because a manager of TT caliber isn't available normally

You know he's not actually a god right?

No but he is a very good football manager, top 5 in the world in my opinion. Winning the Champions League with an Werner-Havertz-Mount up front whilst outplaying the likes of Real and City is an incredible achievement.

This squad (pre-January) showed their level under Lampard and Potter, top 6 at best. Tuchel performed miracles with them, despite no pre-season in his first season, and a massive injury crisis in his 2nd season.

Have Bayern mates who say he’s average. A competent manager would have them 15 points clear of Dortmund.

Done.

Just my two cents on this. The CL Bayern and the BL Bayern versions this season are very, very different. Does it have to do with the manager? He can't motivate the players for the BL matches? Are the players not that fussed about matches v Koln and Augsburg? Are they bored of having no competition in that league? I don't know, but all I can say is that the difference is way too big between the CL Bayern and the BL Bayern.

Let's not forget they are probably the best team in the current season of CL. Played 8, won 8, scored 21, conceded only 2. Both goals conceded away in the Czech Republic, against Plzen. Did not concede v Paris, Barcelona and Inter and actually beat all three both home and away in some style, made all three look like 2nd division German clubs.

Had they had a similar form like the one in the league in the CL, too, I'd probably think ok maybe he is an overrated manager. But they have looked superb in the CL and I find it hard to believe that Nagelsmann can go to Barcelona and Paris and hide the ball from those teams and make them look like complete trash and can't read dross like Koln and some other terrible German clubs. Think the players are to blame, too, they always look like they won't move from first or second gear everytime I watch Bayern play in the Bundesliga, they look like they want that match to finish faster so they can go back to stuff they really care about.

Not a surprise at all to see Tuchel walk into another top job.  I'm happy for him but it's a nail in the coffin of our CL hopes this year I fancy Bayern to win it with Tommy T in charge.

I do wonder what kind of Job Potter will take next once we finally put this sham to an end? I hear there is a vacancy at the Dog and Duck and they're looking for someone with experience of a single top half finish to take them forward.

As per recent reports we paid Brighton £20m in compensation for Potter and promised to pay him £60m over the next 5 years.

If you had said to Brighton at any point in the last 3 years they could pay £80 million to upgrade Potter to Tuchel they'd have sacked Graham on the spot.

Yeah he performed miracles. But he also oversaw some awful form.

I'd say yes he's top 5 in the world.

But that doesn't mean he's definitely going to win the champs league with a Bayern team I think have little chance in getting past city.

I agree, the Kai experiment has gone on long enough for me. Far too inconsistent and just not the player we need really.

If we can get a good fee for him, go get it. I can't see him improving much here.

I don't know how you can be so critical of Tuchel on one hand, then make a billion excuses for the sh*te you see under Potter.

I can at least understand people who wanted Tuchel sacked but still know Potter isn't good enough. I can't help but snigger when I see you say stuff like this then after match day it's a billion excuses for Potter.

I'm not making any excuses for Potter. I think he should have been sacked after the Southampton game. I made one post recently speculating why his subs were weird against Everton, but I still think he's not the right manager for us.

I'm also not criticizing Tuchel. I'm just saying he's not a god. Him being Bayern manager doesn't mean we have zero chance of winning the CL.

True, although conversely if Potter had been sacked by Chelsea do we honestly think that Bayern Munich would come knocking for him. Crystal Palace more like. Lol.

Well no, Tuchel is a top 5 manager in the world. Potter isn't.

I thought Tuchel was one of if not the best managers in the time I've been following Chelsea.

I'd also agree that (i) our form when he was sacked justified the sacking and (ii) Tuchel has a history like Mourinho of only lasting a couple of seasons before falling out.

Personally I don't think Potter is a patch on Tuchel in his sheer understanding of how to coach players and to make a team perform at its maximum potential.

Potter however may get better as a manager, he doesn't have Tuchels background at big clubs etc. Obviously he will have to get far better results out of the team that what he has so far achieved.  That is obvious. No matter how much you want stability every top team is ultimately judged on results.

The team value depends on the results and potential results and pretty much nothing else. Not qualifying for next year's champions league already cost somewhere in the range of 16 m to 80 m euros depnding on how far the team goes, and that's before considering player motivation etc and the mulitiplier into team merchandise and ticket sales and other add  ons.

As for whether Tuchel immediately improves Bayern I'm not completely convinced. Bayern's team has a few issues of its own, haven't replaced Lewi for one thing. But they probably will play better. Our immediate problem is getting through Real, who I think are quite beatable.

Finally Sconnie has it in for Havertz but I think he's a great player that given the right people around him can be part of a title winning outfit.

well ciy has good chance to win against bayern

tuchel will not have much time to apply this philosophy

games are in a couple of weeks

he will not have much time with the team

He didn't have much time with us when he won the Champions League here either, he doesn't need 3 years to start getting results unlike certain managers

Because Tuchel had time here to try and sort it and chose not to - instead putting short term success ahead of stopping the long term rot.

Potter will probably also fail.... but at least he is having a go at trying to stop the slide that was happening under Tuchel (and those before him)

Perhaps most importantly he has Mane back from injury too. They will be a much tougher proposition with Mane in the team.

If Graham Potter can get us playing like that against Real in a few weeks time, then I'll take my hat off and back him completely. Loftus Cheek and Werner were starting in that game by the way, now we have Enzo Fernandez and Joao Felix. He has no excuse.

(found the image on twitter so apologies for the German, should be pretty clear though)

Without Kante? It is going to be very difficult.

Our best performance this season was vs spurs. We turned spurs into stoke/burnley. They could not do anything the whole game.

We lose Kante then straight away, everything went south.

Interesting development...

I've thought for a while that Potter should be hoping that Bayern doesn't sack Nagelsmann soon. Obviously been involved in the Red Bull model before and been very successfull there and we have essentially tried to copy Red Bull in many ways and have also taken Vivell of them.

Happy Tuchel didn't end up with a direct rival and happy he got a job at the very top again. Completely deserved and he'll prove there he's one of the very best managers in the world. With Nagelsmann available I think he may very well come here in the summer or before Christmas next season.
