Victor Osimhen

So how much do they want for him, because nobody is paying his release clause.

Think both clubs will negotiate a price for just under the release clause. We have more leverage given Conte specifically wants only Lukaku. Napoli will likely pay maybe £30-35m for Lukaku, they will then factor that in and we could maybe get Osimhen for £60-75m.

I think the agent fee and wages are the biggest obstacle.

I thought this deal was off and then it was back on and then - even better - it ws a loan deal and now it is NOT a loan deal and I listen to the agent and I am like . . .just walk away from this deal.  We will be fine without Victor.

Osimhen’s representative, Roberto Calenda, has strongly denied reports that the Nigerian striker will leave in a cut-price deal.

‘I’ve read about unfounded imaginary trades involving Victor, shipped around like a package ready for delivery,’ Calenda wrote on X.

‘But remember that this “package” is the top scorer of the third Scudetto in Naples’ history.

So for me - we should just pass.  Let him go to PSG or Saudi or somewhere else. . . .

I would say Osimhen is a significantly better threat than Jackson inside the box, which was something we desperately needed last season. An aerial threat, fox in the box striker. Martinez isn't that and typically needs to play off another striker to succeed.

I would also assume the only offers for Osimhen being from Saudi and PSG may have something to do with his €120m release clause.

Maresca likes versatility in his attackers. Jackson at LW isn't something that can indefinitely be ruled out and from what we have seen last season it is more than a possibility. Nkunku is playing as a #8 this preseason for instance.

You are making it sound like relegating Jackson to the bench is a bad thing when in reality that is where he should be for a club trying to reach Champions League/League Title aspirations. I think many people like yourself fail to realize the season we are heading into the amount of football we are going to be playing. I see it being a case where we will be needing all 3 strikers if we want to go far in every competition.

Sorry but we aren’t getting CL football this season. Osimhen for me has too many red flags fans are ignoring; big money signings from Serie A usually flop in the PL because of the quality of the league. Most of our deadwood’s are thriving in that league, and even a 37yr old Giroud scored as many league goals as Osimhen last season. He is injury prone and misses an average of 10 league goals every season. If he flops we are screwed cos we are talking of £250k/w on a 7yr contract no other team will take on.

I’d rather use this season to see if Jackson can further improve his output, and give Guiu enough mins to find out if he is the real deal. Creativity and a lack of pace going forward is a bigger problem for me, and it seems we are relying on Palmer to repeat the impossible.

Haaland was injury prone before he came to City, that was the main talking point prior to him signing there from outside the City fan base. Therein lies a problem though, concerning our medical team.

He is on 9.2mill a year Net a Napoli, so 176k a week after taxes.

With UK tax laws how much would it cost per week for us to match that? 350k?

I do not see a chance he drops those wages anywhere near enough, PSG agreed to pay him more.

Exactly. Would be the total opposite of all the recent signings, and would unbalance the wages at the club. More likely this story is being given some life to distract from the apparent efforts to push Conor to sign for Athletico

Well we have a new Doctor.  AND Haaland was twice the player and half the price. Haaland to Citeh was €60 million (£51.2 million).

Plus £50 million and a spainish island for his dad.

lol. True, but if Citeh sold Haaland tomorrow to Real Madrid they would get £200 million quid for him. Whereas our benevolent owners don't realise the fundamentals of buying LOW and selling HIGH, they are just. . .  high.

So to re-cap: So Victor Osimhen on a season-long loan with an option to buy seemed like a good deal. But his agent said No way was that deal happening.  PSG are out of the running. Arsenal are just pretending to be in the running. There is nobody else interested in him and also able to afford him. Are we going to start one of those crazy bidding wars with ourselves again?  For me, Victor is just not £110 million quid player - he's worth half of that.

Osmihen dreams of the premier league. Apparently.  He scored 26 goals in the 2022-23 Serie A season.   Last season he got 15 goals in 25 league games.

For me it is a Hard Pass on Victor - i would take him on a loan, but that is about it.

But he is a tradeable asset in an area that is short of assets. If this ends up being no more than a manouevre to move Lukaku out and we have his wages to use (although i think the 300+k being quoted is off the mark as didn't he agree to a drop in wages with us before going to Inter last year), then it may still have some value. I like the obligation to buy if we get CL as it seems to work for all parties.

His agent is denying it whilst Ornstein has this pinned on his twitter. Funny times.

Yeah his agent won’t be wanting a loan he wants a share of the £100m.  Only he and Napoli value him at this price, but they need rid, want Lukaku and Oshimen wants out.  We are in perfect position to drive a hard bargain, but no doubt this lot will still get robbed blind.

Yes. £5m a season.

Tradeable asset, as in we can sell/trade him to Stuggart? Lukaku is also a tradeable asset. I am a bit worried about our tradeable assets in general tbh.

The loan with option to buy does seem like the better option. The only option I would consider tbh. We have been burnt too many times over paying for strikers.

I thought the denial was on an option to rather than an obligation and the agent backed that up with something inferring that an obligation is not deemed a loan. wink wink.

No, tradeable as in the guy is 26 and if he continues on his trajectory this mob will feel that he has not hit his peak value. Success at Chelsea domestically and in The CL and internationally will still increase his value in their eyes. Lukaku they will view as a depreciating asset on the basis that his best days may be past him, burnt bridges at some clubs (being a bell-end), international golden generation turned to sh*t by fraud Martinez etc.

Yeah, but even hits 30 -40 goals next season, there is a very very small pool of clubs who actually have the money and interest in that kind of player.

Clearlake own the club for at least 8 more years. That would mean Conor woild have 8 more years being treated like a sack of Spuds to be sold by them, and 32 going on 33 when he may, or may not, get his Chelsea back.

At least this way he goes to a top club with a top manager thar appricate him. As a Chelsea man who bleeds Blue, am happy for him, he deserves it.
