August 22, 20241 yr Something will happen in whatever direction because, in Conte's words, Napoli are bloccato (blocked) unless it's resolved.

August 22, 20241 yr If Napoli is desperate to get rid, I guess they'll need to lower their asking price... maybe we can give him a signing on bonus and wages on par with everyone else? Edited August 22, 20241 yr by Hessleboink
August 22, 20241 yr This one seems so forced to me. I would almost rather roll with what we have or go back in for Duran/someone similar to him.
August 22, 20241 yr Reading between the lines (so probably miles off) it looks to me that offloading Chilwell and Sterling, even at an overall book loss, would free up enough salary to take on Osimhen and maybe the posturing form Chelsea is biding time of these deals to happen. I hop i am wrong cos these four dimensional chess scenarios rarely materialise and we will end up with bu**er all except loaning out Lukaku for another year
August 22, 20241 yr Does Osimhen really prefer to be left out in the cold over a loan? Thinking he may change his mind the closer we get to the end of the window.

His agent basically said a player of Victor's caliber does not accept loans, as it shows the loaning club does not properly appricate him.

Conte has said though thar Victor not going is blocking their progress. I reckon without Victor leaving they cannot afford the wages and fee to sign Lukaku. They could loan him and use the fee they would pay to cover his wages but cannot sign him if Victor does not leave. If Victor does not leave and Napoli canot sign Lukaku might be Conte has to either bring Victor back or have no proper striker, maybe Victor is banking on this.
August 23, 20241 yr Seems to me that there are two issues here. One is negotiating down Napoli’s release clause for Osimhen. The later we leave it the more inclined Napoli will be to negotiate. Although we say they are separate deals, the fee for Lukaku impacts this as we can offset the fee for Lukaku towards the fee for Osimhen. There was talk even of including Casadei as part of the deal. The other is the issue of Osimhen’s wages. This is where selling Chilwell and Sterling comes into it, as they are on roughly 500,000 a week between them, which would easily allow us to cover his wages. Again, leaving it late, and threatening only a loan deal, puts pressure on Osimhen’s camp to lower their wage demands. It’s high brinksmanship but as long as no other club enters the fray, we are in a good position to get a deal done. Also, selling Lukaku first makes it less likely that a deal falls through. August 23, 20241 yr sscnapoli have made a new offer to Chelsea for Romelu #Lukaku around €30m on a permanent deal and are now waiting on #CFC to answer

Chelsea accept €30m fixed fee plus add-ons up to €15m for €45m potential package. Permanent transfer brokered by Ali Barat for Epic Sports. Lukaku will sign 3 year deal at Napoli until 2027. Now we can buy Victor for . . .whatever they want. Why can't we have a loan to buy for a change?
August 23, 20241 yr We’re hoping to jump in last minute and get him on the cheap or loan. I have a feeling someone else like PSG or Arsenal will give him a better offer before then or gazump us.

Yeah, I have a feeling that they will try one of their trades to sweeten up the sale of Sterling. Him to Villa and us taking that Duran. Something along those lines maybe.

Something along those lines maybe. Yes, far more logical and realistic than we spend money ( that can't be spread over 7 years) and above market salary on Osimhen. Who knows what's the next move is, I'm sure there are plenty of 16 year old wonder kid strikers out there.
August 25, 20241 yr Five days to go, Let's get this done and give ourselves the best chance at being competitive this season. Come on Vic, Work with the team!
August 25, 20241 yr Breaking: Al Ahli have submitted initial bid for Osimhen - in access of €65m. No agreement between player and club so far, Osimhen will consider options. (@FabrizioRomano) #CFC
August 25, 20241 yr Ben Jacobs: “Chelsea's priority in the final days of the window is a striker, with Victor Osimhen not yet ruled out. Understand #CFC and Napoli have made some progress on a proposed structure in the last few days. Chelsea won't proceed unless terms become more favourable. Chelsea are prepared to make Osimhen a top earner, but he must fit into the wage structure meaning a lower base in non-#UCL seasons. Several outgoings expected between now and August 30. Chelsea will present offers to Raheem Sterling this week. Priority is to get his wage off the books. Jadon Sancho not an easy deal to get done. Sancho would have to significantly drop his wage. Early stages at this point as #CFC discuss internally. Chelsea keeping all options open but priority is a traditional striker and multiple exits.”
