And still nobody could do it better for us part from now Enzo coming as a world class replacement last season... Stats are stats, nothing to complain about there.

It seems a bit silly to get into a tiff over a player who's been gone 6 months. We've had plenty of players these past few decades who were as good or better at progressing the ball, but who also had additional strengths and fewer weaknesses.

I understand you were a fan of Jorginho's, but it doesnt really serve much purpose leaping to his defence whenever he's mentioned.

I would be interested to hear what you think of Santos though

Watch Santos vs Brighton passing progressive passes 10 yards, compliment him for that while dismissing Jorginho doing the exact same thing... Yeap typical.

27 seconds in on the above video Jorginho would have recycled that ball, no way he's passing between two players like that.

1 minute 21 seconds that ball would have been recycled to a CB.

1 minute 15 seconds in Jorginho would have had a hernia making that pass and bursting to receive again for a return if he tried it.

1 minute 38 seconds the attacker beats Jorginho to the byline with ease with his lack of pace.

One is 19 and playing his second game for the club while the other was apparently a seasoned pro and one of the best midfielders in the world.

I mean it for the sake of truth, you can say alot but to claim that Jorginho wasn't doing progressive passes is just flat out misrepresenting things, it would be equivalent to claim that Mount didn't press or that Kante didn't recover possession, and in all those examples I would have reacted the same way as I did so it very much depends on what is being said to begin with so the question can also be put the other way around too, I understand that some people here hated Jorginho but he hasn't been here for, as you point out 6 months and yet some silly digs are there for no real reason, the proof of that is obvious so no need to continue there...

I'm sure Santos has an eye for a goal too so at this point I'm not completely sold on him being the one to be involved in the buildup as much as I see Enzo doing that naturally, prior to seeing Santos play for us I thought of him more as some kind of a "Ramires" since he ended up in the opposition box quite a lot in the clips I've seen.

I had a similar impression, would be interested to see if he's given license to push a bit further forward when/if paired with Enzo or a more defensive partner

Thanks for that link. Exactly what I was looking for as he didn't show up obviously in real time like some of the others. Looked a tired lad at the end.

The more I see and hear people speak on him i think we'll end up starting the season next to Enzo.

Then the owners/directors fully deserve the pissed off manager they'll get.

Justine Frischmann though.....

Ooh, now your talking....

I thought we wanted to the new ownership to not overpay for players and scout the next best upcoming talent like Brighton do? If we've rightly got an unearthed gem, why would anyone be upset?

Shiny new toy syndrome, every player someone else has is automatically better than what we've got in house with our fans.

I know that there is little if any chance but that is why i would like us going in hard for Marquinhos.. He would act as CB cover for the absence of Fofana, but would also be part of the DM group, rotating with Enzo and Santos. The guy can play multiple positions and him and Silva would be great mentors for the youngsters as well.

And club I guess since we have just desperately bid for Caicedo for the 4th time? With a manager already talking about wanting a midfielder with experience in every single interview/presser he's had for the last three weeks.

Santos couldn't even handle the step up to Serie A in Brazil. There is no evidence he's anywhere near ready for us. And before you mention pre-season, Danny Drinkwater was MOTM in his last ever match for us in pre-season.

Conveniently ignored the start of my post...

So Pochettino wants experience and your answer to that is Caicedo? a mighty 54 games for Brighton.

What makes you say he couldn't handle the step up? He was playing for a team that had just been promoted to the top division and got a call up to the mens Brazil team on the back of it? What game did DD get MOTM in?

I think he means Premier League experience when he says experience. It's been reported that's what he wants and 54 games of quality is quite a bit really.

And as for shiny new toys. Didn't you want us to go all out for Fernandez and break every kind of record for him?

As for Drinkwater, here you go:

Caicedo was pretty anonymous under Potter. So really he has 25 games (?) of quality in the premier league. This isn't experience.

Yes I wanted us to go all out for Enzo as he was a genuine world class talent that every club in world football wanted. He's the star man, you can complement him with more squad players. This doesn't mean I want every player in the 25 man squad to be a £100m hype signing. Enzo's skillset is unique, a ball winner and first phase build up is less so.

Don't see anywhere in there saying he got MOTM, just that he played well against a Championship side. We're actually playing premier league teams this year.

Fair enough, I respect your opinion.

To be fair I have watched every minute of the pre-season and from Casadei and Santos, Cesare has popped in my eye much more. He has made excellent runs as well as some mistakes in places you shouldn't. Santos has blended in the crowd much more. Maybe that is due to weird numbers and lack of names on the backs but I am much more aware of what CC's done compared to Santos.

I agree, but I think it might be mainly because Santos has had a more defensive role, Casadei has had a chance to be more attacking. But so far I've been impressed with both
