However, caring about winning and actually being able to affect the outcome are two different things. For each game he's made a decisive play there's two other games where his lack of involvement results in a loss. We've had mouthy, passionate players before (Drogba, Costa, Terry, Ashley Cole, Rudiger) but unlike Enzo they were consistent gamebreakers. Passion without action makes you look like a fool, tbh.No club can truly hold a player against their will, long contracts or not. There are so many get-out clauses like the Webster ruling that effectively nullify long contracts.I don't share his optimism that there will be a mountain of suitors. Firstly the one club linked with him now has 8 reasons why he wouldn't improve their team. Madrid would only want him if he was keen to play deeper - their priority will be a DM this summer and I wouldn't be surprised if Caicedo is their number one target. Barcelona or Atletico can't afford him, the other PL clubs are well aware of his limitations so that really only leaves Bayern.1: I'm not the greatest fan of his way of expressing passion either, but the way I see it its all we've got at the moment. We need someone who dares to stick their head out, Enzo does that - even if it might not ALWAYS be helpful. 2: True, but I tend to think that if players truly want out they'll get out. Keeping someone against their will is not helpful to anyone, as their output is sure to decline which in turn will tank their future value. In general, not too fussed about losing the player but I'm very worried about the aftermath
March 18Mar 18 With any luck he can ride on Messi's coat tails one last time, and secure himself a transfer after the World Cup. He's been the perfect poster boy for the mediocre BlueCo era, but now we need to try and get back to being "Chelsea"

Enzo is a championship player at best, Blue co have brought in managers and players and none have been able to integrate or play with him in the team. Bar Caicedo and Palmer, I cant say any of the signings we have made under blue co have improved the club/ first team. If we want to look at a passion for winning, see Rudiger after a handshake with Pep last night. That's a winning mentality... Proper Loco, bat sh*t crazy, the Guy used to run through walls for us and does the same at Madrid. That's a winner, now comparre it to this donkey.
March 18Mar 18 Listening to the Athletic podcast today, they said that Enzo’s statement wasn’t a surprise to them as they heard whispers. Personally I don’t think he’s anything special. He’s a good player but outstanding. He’s also apparently he’s abit of an arrogant billy big boots in the dressing room

March 18Mar 18 I just don't understand how he leaves. "Blueco" just won't let him go for less than 80mI can't see who is spending that on him. No one in Spain is going to spend more than 50m in my opinion. If anyone does. I'm delighted. Theres 5-10 players I can name is swap him for.

His book value is ~78m, which, to be fair, I would bite any club's hand off for. The clubs that reportedly want him (Madrid, PSG) only see him as squad filler and the clubs that he would suit can't afford him.The only scenarios I can come up with:Maresca takes over at Real Madrid (lol) and demands Enzo Fernandez as his marquee signingPSG offers a player swap for one of our long-time targets in Doue or Barcola (lol)Bayern or Barcelona win the CL + sell a player for big moneyNewcastle qualify for CL and dramatically overreact to losing Sandro TonaliBlueCo, embarassed by the PSG game, shelve their Brighton obsession and instead decide to focus their resources entirely on making Strasbourg the next PSG, signing Enzo Fernandez Edited March 19Mar 19 by SydneyChelsea
March 19Mar 19 More than happy to see him move on but just can't see any club willing to part with big money for him.IF he does leave, expect @loz to be just as inconsolable as he was when CHO left.
March 19Mar 19 For me, the negative here is not Enzo looking to potentially leave, as I've never been a big fan of his, but rather a worrying sign for the club that one of their key players and dressing room leaders, a vice captain no less, this "project" was supposed to be built around doesn't want to be a part of it anymore.

PSG already said yesterday they have no interest, and the Madrid link is just silly. Personally would tell his agent we would accept any £75m+ offers, because I just don’t think he can coexist in the same lineup with Palmer if we are a serious club. You watch any of our recent games and both players are occupying the “10” role, and we look awful out of possession as a result.

Instead of Enzo running into Palmer it will be Enzo running into Bellingham.

March 19Mar 19 Funny thing is after getting burnt by us for the Hazard transfer back in 2019, Florentino Perez stopped paying big money for over 21yr old players. The only big name signing in the 6 year period over that age was Tchouameni who was 22yrs. Enzo is actually already 25yrs, and approaching or currently at his peak. Can’t imagine him running the risk of getting burnt by us again.
March 19Mar 19 Author Seeing Vitinha at PSG is essentially what I thought we were getting with Enzo when we signed him. A technical, press resistant deep lying playmaker. Instead we have an overpriced Jonjo Shelvey.
March 19Mar 19 Ah BlueCo PR of the day "we love you Enzo, we will pay your 400k a week to stay!"And some will believe it to...
March 20Mar 20 I don’t believe the 400k a week talk for a second. But I actually can see him getting a pay raise. If we give him a pay raise instead of selling him, I’m done with this club.
March 20Mar 20 Author GraimeBailey is reporting that. I don’t believe it. Would all but confirm @Sexyfootball and his theory that Enzo is BlueCo poster boy if they’re willing to break their wage structure for him.

He had no involvement in the first and game-winning goal, which was a shot by Messi from outside the box, assisted by di Maria. Messi contributed 7 goals to the Argentinian World Cup win ; Enzo just that 2nd goal against Mexico. All the stats sites show multiple players as having a better performance in the 2022 World Cup than Enzo Fernandez.
