Enzo Fernandez - Officially a Blue!

Featured Replies

Didn't we spread his fee for FFP purposes across his 9.5 year contract?

What would that leave his book value at in January? 88mill?

Don't see Real paying anywhere near that, or us accepting we made a mistake and taking a loss of around half what we paid.

Mbappe and Enzo would make interesting teammates.  We do not need another midfielder from Real or anywhere really.

But yep a lazy rumour regarding Enzo.

In other news Enzo is going through a divorce.

Almost 2 years, I think. The move has not been a good one for the club or the player. Our talent spotters who persuaded the owners to break the club's transfer record to sign him are too proud to admit they made a massive error. Hopefully Maresca will just ignore the fee and his big-name status and just go by performances and results when picking his teams. There's no way he should be starting ahead of Lavia alongside Caicedo. I genuinely fail to see where he would fit into our midfield

Jesus Potter was only two years ago? It feels longer than that...

Still he's had 3 different managers and he's struggled to implement his place in the team. Caicedo has had some rocky moments but he's still reliable for the most part and has shown true quality to stay in the side. Enzo you can't say the same, one good performance here and there overshadowed by average ones.

I'm probably one of his biggest supporters on here because I do rate his ability but there's only so much I can let slide, this was supposed to be his season to finally break into the team, instead Lavia is looking the better option.

As far as I know, Real Madrid are more concerned with a RB to replace Carvajal, who's going to be out all season due to an ACL injury. They are looking at Pedro Porro among others. I haven't seen in the Spanish press anything relating their interest in Enzo Fernandez.

So Poch was right to ditch him last season - there were a lot of folk round these parts who were critical for him not being played. Maresca seems to be allowed more rope to hang himself with at a later date. Shame Maresca didnt ut his foot down over Gallagher and the board... wouldnt be in the situation we are and we could have found a club for Enzo over the summer instead.

Sack the board.

Well Romano is a talentless grifter to his very core, but despite myself I can't help but hope that this @moi rumour is true.

And if you doubt her physicality you haven't seen her after a couple of Glenlivets!

I don’t think he needs to bulk up. He’s just remarkably lackadaisical about things like possession in a Chelsea jersey. Argentina Enzo would never let himself get walked off the ball the way he was against Newcastle, and it is often against essentially the same players … just on international duty.

In his large number of possession losses I’ve watched players simply run up from behind and hook the ball away from him . He may never be as locked in mentally for club games. I’m not saying he’s intentionally tanking or not trying at all… but it isn’t the same.

I don't think Enzo has been as bad as others make out. I do agree that he needs to add more to his game, and we lose some physicality when he plays over Lavia - but I do think there is space for him.

He doesn't come across to me as some lightweight, unathletic player like Jorgi was.

My issue is more that I don't know what he is. He isn't a dm. He isn't an atm. He isn't a LM. He isn't really a box to box player. He isn't a goal scoring midfielder, and he isn't consistently creative to be an assist machine either.

I think that he would be best suited in a 3 when we are trying to control the centre of the field - but we don't play that way.

It’s exactly that.

Argentina and Benfica both played with a midfield 3 in variations of a 4-3-3. He excelled in this formation.

But I think even if we played a 4-3-3 then Enzo would still struggle with the speed and intensity of the PL. Nkunku is also best on the left hand side of a front 3 in a 4-3-3 formation. Some players really struggle to find themselves in a different formation whilst others can play in many different formations.

With Enzo and Nkunku I believe it’s the former rather than the latter.

Should have hired a manager who plays 433 then.

Sitting here with a few wines in me…. So forgive me…. Any way we could use Chuk as a midfield option? Guys got talent for sure; and has the build for it…..

Unfortunately it looks like he has been png'd.

Perhaps he should start telling people he is from senegal, and get some sob stories published in the media about how he grew up so poor that he had to play football barefooted Seems to have worked for the donkey.

Is it actually true that Real Madrid want to buy him? I don't like him.

Nope, nothing in the Spanish media about an interest from Real Madrid. They are more concerned about RB as the most immediate position, and are interested in Rodri (who wouldn't!) but not at the price quoted, or Zubimendi.

I understand why our fans are not big fans of Enzo. He has a slow running pace and he cost us a fortune. It is easy to see why you want Lavia to play instead as he is athletic and can run. He protects the backline in transition and other situations better than Enzo.

What was evident in MU game with Lavia is he is not controlling the midfield in any way. He is the muscle. Enzo is much better at making decisions with the ball. I think he would have been a better player in the first half for us in terms of attacking. He would have seen the vast space and made a better judgement with the ball than Lavia. I think Maresca used Lavia because MU is good in transition. We kept the clean sheet in open play all game which suggests he made the right choice but Enzo and Lavia are different and we are very lucjy to have them both.

Enzo would earn a ton of good will from the fans if he scored more often. That is the part of his game that is lacking in the premier league. In terms of passing he is one of the silkiest passers in the league. Problem is the league is muscle and pace first -league. Brain and passing prowess is in a small role.

How many times does he need to punt the ball straight to the opposition (mostly Onana yesterday) before this myth dies?

He's not even amongst the silkiest passers in our midfield, nevermind the league.
