Fingers crossed his B sample comes back negative anyway, but based on recent cases, the worst ban he'd get would be 4 years reduced to 18 months (assuming the offence is on a par with Pogba's) and he'd still be relatively young at the end of that, with 6 odd years left on his contract, so shouldn't affect his value too much. I imagine contracts might have some dispensation in them to reduce salary significantly in exceptional circumstances ? Plus I suspect that the club might also try to position him as a poster boy for rehabilitation and an anti-drug message to kids etc etc. It doesn't have to be all gloom and doom ...
December 17, 20241 yr What a mess he’s got himself in. Doping bans are usually very heavy so he’s looking at some serious time out of the game
December 17, 20241 yr Mykhailo Mudryk has hired the law firm responsible for helping Paul Pogba to have his doping ban reduced from four years to 18 months. [telegraph]
December 17, 20241 yr I wonder if the FA and Premier League have a similar statute? Quote As per regulations when it comes to suspended players, Juve only have to pay Pogba the minimum wage laid out in the Collective Agreement with the Italian Association of Footballers. That means the 30-year-old midfielder is receiving €42,177 gross per year – which equates to around €2,000 per month

I would doubt that they do but his contract will likely contain clauses that can be used against him if required. If the club feel he’s not knowingly taken this medication then he’ll likely be paid his basic weekly wage. If they feel he knowingly did take the medication he will likely be sacked. I don’t believe he’s tried to cheat though and it’s more likely the drug has been in a supplement.
December 17, 20241 yr That number 10 shirt is Palmer bound. The strange thing for me is why players are taking anything outside of the club nutrition consultants recommendations (they’re all on LinkedIn, and they look pretty reputable) and the whole team around the players. The club even developed their own ‘blue fuel’ back in 2020 for the squad.
December 17, 20241 yr I think he got stitch up here. I believe he was given something and told it’s kosher. He trusted the wrong people and probably will now lose his career at a top club. If the B sample is positive and I don’t see why it wouldn’t be I don’t see any top club touching him again and he will probably turn out to be one of those “What if players”!!
December 17, 20241 yr If that substance is a "performance enhancing" drug then all I can say is that it is f**king useless.

East European and Russians were the ones caught using it in the past. Maria Sharapova was banned after a failed test. What I didn't know is that it is actually licensed for use in many East European countries. Maybe it was with Ukraine that he took it? But I've never known anyone to own up to taking banned drugs anyway. ( Lance A ) Even our keeper ( can't recall his name) said someone must have put cocaine in his drink when he failed his test. Mind you, I've never agreed that an individual taking recreational drugs in his own time should be punished anyway. Just hope the other sample is negative. To think we extended his contract !

Nah football clubs are fickle. They’ll forgive anyone anything if it makes them successful. That said, Mishi has probably majorly ruined his career now. I don’t see him escaping a lengthy ban.

I think stuff like drugs or undesirable behaviour and sh*t like that is in every contract. If it’s a decent contract it could even mean a simple termination thing. Fk knows how it works with the FA or PL. 16 minutes ago, PhilH930 said: Need to let this one play out - three sides to every story. I agree with this… Its way too early for speculation, or what the club, fa, PL are going to do…lets just see what happens when the rest of the info is released.
December 17, 20241 yr Ben Jacobs says the B test should be back in a couple of days. Also says that 99% of the time, the B test is the same as the A test. It’s not looking good for him.. Edited December 17, 20241 yr by JM7
December 17, 20241 yr Ben Jacob’s update: “More on Mykhailo Mudryk. The B sample is still to come back but a provisional suspension is in place. It’s understood this also stops Mudryk training at Cobham. Mudryk categorically denies intentional wrongdoing and passed a test in August. He has a specialist law firm dealing with the matter. Substance in question was meldonium, and the positive A test occurred on international duty not on Chelsea’s watch. Mudryk believes contamination caused the positive. Chelsea informed the playing squad this morning and are doing all they can to support Mudryk. Enzo Maresca has been kept in the loop but naturally as head coach he is not dealing with it day-on-day. He referred to Mudryk as ill, and it’s understood the Ukrainian did return from international duty sick as well. Mudryk is devastated and determined to clear his name. The maximum punishment is a four year suspension. Paul Pogba got this punishment originally before it was reduced to 18 months. Maria Sharapova had a two-year ban after testing positive for meldonium and that was reduced to 15 months.”
December 17, 20241 yr UK doping standards are very strict and operate strict liability for the player - i.e. it doesn’t matter how it got in his system, Mishi is held to account for it.
December 17, 20241 yr It's not looking good for Misha unfortunately. This is probably the negative news the media and rivals have been wishing for in the last few weeks. A real test of character for this young team to pull together and get through this.

All human beings at the end of the day and they will have a mixture of shock and sympathy for their teammate. Maybe it galvanizes them?
December 17, 20241 yr 3 hours ago, Sconnie Blue said: I wonder if the FA and Premier League have a similar statute? Last time we had something like this, Mutu paid the club(which he didn't officially but probably did in closed doors but who really knows eh) Edited December 17, 20241 yr by Deino
December 17, 20241 yr So let’s say we take his version of events and it was unknowingly consumed on international duty with 🇺🇦, was he the only one tested if not who else was tested ? Was someone around to Ukrainian camp using this and he somehow drank or ate something that’s contaminated etc… So many questions, I really want him to be innocent because I like the kid seems his heart is in the right place.
December 17, 20241 yr Why? Why take this drug? Mutu was just snorting his coke. A more honest activity perhaps - and not performance enhancing. Ask Maradona or Rio Ferdinand. Why Meldonium? Meldonium demonstrates an increase in endurance performance of athletes, improved rehabilitation after exercise, protection against stress, and enhanced activation of central nervous system (CNS) functions. I guess all that praying and carrying around religious icons wasn't working for him. Preliminary tests showed that it could take weeks or months for the drug to leave the body. Not sure why he would take this or how long he has been taking for? Very popular in Russia and Ukraine this drug. Waiting for the B test.
December 18, 20241 yr He’s been abit of a disastrous signing hasn’t he? Those glimpses we saw at Liverpool just haven’t maintained. He’s had a couple of moments but overall, it’s been underwhelming. I still believe other clubs will taken a chance on him. There was a lot of interest in him over the summer apparently

December 18, 20241 yr Ben Jacob’s said he was negative in August the test before the positive one. He said the club knows this isn’t something he was doing before which aids his explanation that it was something contaminated.
December 18, 20241 yr With the amount of money in the support i don't get why clubs aren't more involved with what a footballer puts into their body. Personal chefs and nutritionists employed by the club for every first team player would be a drop in the ocean for Premier league clubs.
