For everyone's sake, hope Lampard picks creativity and attack intents in the team, not the Kante as the attacking midfielder again. I honestly think Arsenal is there for the taking, they have been running on very little after peaking for most parts of the season. I'm sure they'll be a bit motivated but given everyone else in the league beats us what chance have we got against the team that is 2nd in the table??? Still can't find a goal!

May 1, 20233 yr I just want to see a attacking formation with the team.... Mudryk Havertz Sterling Enzo. Gallagher/Kante Zakaria
May 1, 20233 yr If Auba scores I hope he shows no chill with his celebration. It was beyond classless what the Arsenal players did after the goal at The Bridge.
May 1, 20233 yr This time tomorrow we’ll still be on 39 points and our goal difference will be much worse.
May 2, 20233 yr We would be 3rd in the league based on goals against and 1 off the relegation zone based on goals scored. This means that our football has been unbelievably depressing and boring this season. None of Lampard, Tuchel or Potter have been able to get any goals from players that at other clubs consistently scored goals. I don't really know why that is. You can argue Sterling isn't the player he was but I don't believe his level is that much lower. He's been played out of position most of the time. Such a waste. Havertz just cant hit the goal scoring form he is capable of and i think he is overloaded playing No 9. Mudryck hasnt been given a good enough go. Auba has been fully wasted, it needs more than 10 minutes at the end of every 4th game to run into some form. On top of that when the strikers arent scoring the scoring deficiencies of the midfield, no surprise to anyone, become much more obvious. Indeed the team is full of folk that are either too old or too young and lots of square pegs in round holes The coach trys to fix it all by just rearranging the deck chairs. Potter really didn't change what Tuchel was doing in any big way. Lampard is picking players based on reputation with the sole exception of Gallagher. The task of any manager at any club where the team is not facing relegation is to find a way to score goals. There is no way known that playing some combination of Sterling Havertz and Gallgher/Pulisic/Mudryk up front with non scoring (kante, kova, enzo) midfielders and only one goal scoring defender (chillwell) is going to result in consistent goal scoring by the team. Our managers have proved that to everybody's satisfaction. Repeating that formula will lead to the same result. We need attackers that can score goals and at least one goal scoring midfielder, preferably two. For me this means that much as I am a fan of Havertz he's had a good run at striker. Sterling was never a number 9. The only proven No 9 in the squad is Auba. On the other hand Sterling and Mudryck are good playing wide left and Sterling can play wide right. For the goal scoring mids that is gallagher. He might as well play instead of Kova or Kante. Personally I would be tempted to drop Enzo for this game, put Kante in the holding role and play Gallagher on the right of a three with say Chucky on the left. Or you could play gallagher on the right and enzo on the left. The back 4 is Chiller Baddy/cucu/Chalobah/Silva Fofana and RLC We will likely get taken apart by a very desperate arsenal. I suppose despite everything I said above, it is open to pick the same tired old team and just try and hang on for 0:0. 0:0 is possible if the cards fall our way. Alternatively some formation and system that gives us multiple paths to scoring goals is needed. For me that involves picking Mudryck and Sterling on the wings, gallagher in the midfield and (this season) auba up front. Edited May 2, 20233 yr by ozboy

May 2, 20233 yr Hopefully we get out sheet together and score a couple of goals and end their title chase, would easily be the high point of the season. We had almost a full week to prepare this game, which is usually unheard of at this time of the season for us. There's no excuse for not putting up a good performance. No more crazy setup of Kante and Gallagher supporting a fake 9, just stick to the basics.

May 2, 20233 yr Can't see anything but an L here but got to stay optimistic, first time since the early 00's where i'm going into an Arsenal game thinking they're the strong favourites here. Large problem area is obviously RB where Martinelli will be attacking. Just pray we don't persist with the Gallagher/Sterling attack. Kepa Fofana Silva Badiashile RLC Enzo Kante Chilwell Sterling Auba Mudryk Above team can easily transition into a 433 when needed with RLC tucking in, Fofana playing as a makeshift RB and Chilwell in at LB. I think the obvious thing is to try to get pace in behind Ben white and Holding. Mudryk has to start.

May 2, 20233 yr The last thing we want to do is show them too much respect. We need to be in their faces and don’t let them play their game. Look at what City did to them, even though they are on a different level to us we can try to implement the same pressing game. For that reason I wouldn’t be against Gallagher starting, as long as he’s not expected to provide in attack. Something like this could work imo. Kepa Badiashile Silva Fofana RLC Kante Enzo Gallagher Chilwell Aubameyang Mudryk
