Poch has shown how simple it is to play football. You don't need some fancy system, inverted fb, or false 9.

Sterling as winger, get him the ball quickly and often, get him to work. Get the ball to enzo as much as possible, let him have the freedom to move around so he can affect play more.

Done.

play physical guys in the middle to win you the ball ..

let defenders defend on corners..

I've honestly missed that kind of simplicity, so tired of the tiki-taka we've been trying to play for the last half-decade

Agree, a while ago I was fascinated by manager with fancy football and I have been proven wrong and wrong again.

Tuchel spell was the final nail in the coffin. On paper it is a genius idea.

All looks good until you have Reece James crosses for Kai or Mount and kai on the wing with sterling in the middle.

And the worse part is you don't even know how to improve your team.

A lot of people are saying tuchel problem is his talent id. I disagree, it is not talent id, it is so obvious what TT want but it is extremely difficult to sign those player.

Cucurella. Tuchel want a wb/fb/lcb who can make between the line pass. Good luck finding one.

For Bayern Tuchel want a st who can play as a 10 n 9 at elite level. 100m for 30 years old st in his last year of his contract 😱😱😱

Nah his talent ID is sh*t. It's no surprise we got worse with each passing transfer window.

Lukaku - Completely obvious it wouldn't work in his system.

Saul - Dog sh*t

Kounde - Doesn't start for Barca

Raphinha - Doesn't start for Barca

Koulibaly - Kicked out of the club

Cucurella - Dropped completely

Zakaria - Redundant

Aubameyang - Crock

Fofana - Injured 75% of the time (may still come good)

Sterling - Coming good.

De Ligt - Coming good

Tuchel want a false 9 who can score 25 goals per season

Talent id : lewandowski, Kane, Benzema

Alternative:

Option 1:  Kai, Jesus can play as false 9 but can't score

Option 2: Haaland, Lukaku can't play false 9 but can score

Tuchel want a player who can play lb/lcb/lwb that can pass

Talent id :  left footed Reece James. 🤪🤪🤪 I have no clue who can do this. Maybe David alaba

Alternative:

Option 1 : Cucurella, maybe Shaw

Option 2:  somebody like Colwill but can't play lwb, zinchenko but can't play lcb.

Talent ID problem? Or finding player that suit what tuchel want is close to impossible.

I can't comment player that was not signed for Chelsea and Auba, Zakaria and Saul are squad filler so irrelevant.

That's ridiculously harsh on them players, especially Madueke who was excellent when he played last season. He missed some preseason due to an international tournament and is being eased back in. To claim he's terrible is over the top nonsense.

I never said he was terrible, I said he was out of form.

You forgot to include, get a natural centre-forward who can effectively hold the ball up to let others play off him and is a credible goal threat himself.

😁😁😁

I think my point is that football is very simple. Too much focus on fancy jargon.

Get good players. Give them the ball as much as possible in good position, have a platform so they can do their magic and just adjust accordingly.

Well, that's just ridiculous. We need a left-wearing barrista in the double pivot.

This is why want football to ditch all this modern role crap.

”We need a keeper good with his feet blah blah blah“

No you need a keeper who can stop the ball going into your net, it doesn’t matter if he can do 100 kick ups or step overs if he can’t stop a shot he’s useless.

Very novel, it will never catch on.

I agree,  they dress it up with some mystique that only they supposedly understand just to justify mega wages

"Modern" role is all good. Inverted fb, false 9 are all good. Playing firmino as false 9 to allow mane and salah to get forward more is good. Having  stones to invert to allow Gundo to push and attack the box more is good.

My biggest problem is when people start pushing this idea that this new role is some kind of magical stuff rather than finding an idea to get the best out of your players.

I've seen people saying top 4 is possible.  :face_palm:

I want some of what they are smoking.

Why not ?

Just about every big team has gone backwards vs last year ... City have lost Gundogan and Mahrez, and have De Bruyne out injured, United are a shambles, Spurs have lost Kane, Newcastle slow out of the blocks so far, Liverpool have lost all their midfield ... and so have Brighton ... and Arsenal now have the dead weights that are Havertz and Jorginho to drag them backwards 🙂

All to play for I reckon ...

Absolutely no chance of a champions league place.

I'm as pessimistic about our chances as it gets, but on paper our last 7 games are winnable. It may depend on the consistency of our rivals but if we're in the mix and can put a run of form together a CL place isn't inconceivable?

Here we go again

New manager with a ton of new players.

I'd be amazed if we got a cohesive team by Christmas

Did you have a number in mind? We have a squad of 26 now vs 31 of last season.

Not really . 26 maybe ?  Just saying we have loads of new players, is it more or less  than last season ?

Dunno , but Im thinking it's difficult to get cohesion in a squad of new players in a  short period of time .

What dya reckon ?

Think 26 we are fine.

We had 31 last season and at least 50-60% didn't want to be here.

But my point wasn't about the size the squad at all.

It was about the number of new players in the squad yet again.

f**king West Ham

Have a good evening mate

It's only 12 new players in a squad of 27 ... nothing Poch can't handle !

Quite impressive that we've offloaded 19 of the 34 players that had minutes on the pitch last season (15 sold and 4 loaned). Sends the right message about last season's debacle and effort.
