We might have learned more if Maatsen had come on for Carney. Mudryk wasn't the answer in terms of fulfilling a Carney role.

I like this. Why Maatsen should play over murdyk is a more interesting discussion then why Maatsen should play.

The following injury update has been provided ahead of Chelsea’s Premier League match with Luton Town.

Carney Chukwuemeka - recovering well post-surgery and starting rehabilitation

Wesley Fofana - continuing with the early stages of his rehabilitation programme

And it'll only grow before it gets shorter let's be honest.

I've already got a bet on Silva being the next one.

My pie in the sky theory was something at cobham i.e the pitch as players come here healthy and immediately become unhealthy.

Sterling solid injury record for city turns up at cobham immediately on crutches.

The concerning thing for me is when looking at that list, how many are actually first team starters.  James and Nkunku for sure, and perhaps Chukwuemeka in a 4-2-3-1 setup alongside Sterling and Nkunku.  Beyond that, the closest is Badiashile, who never really put a foot wrong, but is he ahead of Colwell and Silva?  Fofana prob same debate for me.  Mudryk, Broja, Trev are squad/bench depth, which makes a difference over time.

I guess my point is the list is significant and concerning, and a lot for any team to absorb.  But am equally concerned for all we have signed, where is the quality that will significantly improve us from what we are watching, or is it more a case of time, patience and players growing into their potential. Ultimately, beyond Nkunku, where are the goals coming from, as they’re not on that list of injured players.

I was watching some highlights of the 2000/2001 season on YouTube earlier and the games were so much more open and entertaining. Both teams attacked, both left spaces. Now, pretty much every single game we play, unless its against one of the top 3-4 sides is just one team sits behind the ball constricting space while we pass it back and forth, then they counter, then repeat. Football is just more boring now.

Already seeing people getting on Pochs back because the owners signed poor attacking options like  Mudryk and Madueke before he came in and haven't brought in the attacking players we needed this summer.

There are very few goals in this squad regardless of the manager but as usual the typical fans will point at the gaffer if the team doesn't score or he can't get much out of the poor attacking options at his disposal.

Early days but obviously feel the manager will be the scapegoat for all the bad business we've done building the squad.

Happy with the win but really, really don't like seeing Chiwell at left wing. It forces us to rely entirely on James or Sterling on the right to create all our chances.

It limits our ability to create chances as well given Colwill doesn't pass the half way line as a LB and Chilwell can't dribble past a player or has the pace to beat them.

Hopefully we move Chilwell to LB and play a back four soon enough.  Funny thing is I thought Sterling would be left wing, but on this form why move him from RW, which is a big of a bigger problem.  This could nicely open the path for Nkunku left wing and Chukwumeka no.10, or Mudryk left wing and Nkunku no.10.  Right now though, think Chukwumeka offers a lot more than Mudryk.

Chiller has the pace but he isn’t a winger.

Yeah is too defensive. Assuming Lavia replaces Gallagher when fit and is left all on Sterling and Jackson to get us regular goals until Nkunku is fit.

Poch played safe this game, there's no need to play 5 defenders against a team like Luton. But I understood why he did it, give the limitations on the team right now. At least Sterling was given the freedom ( unlike the LWB under Potter), and unleashed his class. Whether it's 4231 or 343, I don't see Enzo\Caceido\Levia on the field at the same time, unless we are protecting a lead. We just don't have enough games in the midfield, Gallagher need to be in the team unless Nkunku is coming back.

I think if Lavia comes in then chilwell needs to go back to LB, allowing Mudryk or Nkunku instead of Gallagher.

It was only Luton but feels like with colwill, enzo, caceido and Jackson, we’ve finally got a young spine worth developing

“Lots of good managers in here with premier league experience🙄

Do people in here think Poch is really playing this way without justification, he’s the manager for a reason because he’s good at what he does. Let him develop our identity the way he sees it best. He’s the one with the players in training and knows the strengths and weaknesses.
This constant “ this player shouldn’t play her blah blah blah” attitude. He’s seeing the players daily he knows and  we don’t.

The reality is the formation worked as we should have had 9 points had the players finished their chances.

I think we do actually deserve to have 9 points out of 9, but the reality is different.

The back 3 needs to go though, very surprised to see him playing that way against Luton of all teams. Luton were rubbish and we were letting them back into the game at one point because of how isolated our attackers were.

The fantastic news is that we got a win, Jackson scored, Caicedo and Gusto grew into the game, and hopefully grew in confidence which they desperately need. We've got some pretty kind fixtures coming up, I understand the injuries are not kind, but I hope we see a braver lineup the next few games.

Explain why you are better placed to make that judgement that the back three needs to go and top class manager like Poch is wrong?

If we apply this logic every single time then having a forum is pointless isn't it? If we just go "well we can't disagree because the manager obviously knows better than we do" then what's the point?

What if we all just agreed with Potter last season because he was clearly the most experienced guy? Managers make mistakes all the time, and I'm sure had we put 10 different managers in this Chelsea team right now we would get different formations, different team selections, yet the manager is always going to be right? That doesn't make sense.

I believe the 3 at the back needs to go if we are to kickstart a new season, we showed Luton too much respect. Very happy with the win, I've been a big Pochettino advocate and I still am, but I do think we would be far better with one less defender and one more attacker in the team.

You still haven’t explained why it needs to go just that “ it needs to go to kick start our season”.
