As Poch asked for in pre-season, this squad is crying out for some form of experience.

Should've signed Parades instead of Lavia and someone older instead of Palmer.

So just sign a player for his age and not his quality? I guarantee most here would have been sighing at the thought of Parades or the like coming in and saying how it wasn't an exciting signing to make us challengers etc. It seems like most fans are just trying to find a way to cope with mediocre performances and now using hindsight.

I was badgering about signing Paredes all summer and said it would have been a smart move.

I'd have felt a lot better with a 29 year old world cup and multiple league/cup winner that has 350+ career appearances to his name, then Ugochukwu would be ready when he's entering the twilight of his career.

Instead we had a 19 year old starting and the other 19 year old in the medical room. I had no issue with youngsters being signed, i have issue with their back ups also being youngsters.

Am interested in seeing who the people booing Poch would want for his replacement if he goes. Because this team and club need stability instead of chopping and changing managers every year. This is not 2010 where we could get away with it because there were very few teams challenging now there are probably 8 teams who can finish in the top 4 now.

Its painful to watch but these are still new players who are still getting used to the system and manager.

Problem is the turnover of the squad for me, not the people we've bought. We should have done it alot slower over the course of a few seasons. We essentially have a squad full of players with no chemistry and very little experience.

It's going to take a few seasons and also a few failures, we likely won't even end up with the same personal we have now in 2 or 3 seasons because it's incredibly naive to think every player will be a success.

No blame at the manager or the players for me, it's sorely down to whoever made the decision to implent this project. The buck stops with them and we've spent a billion doing this and we have no excuses.

I think there is plenty of talent in the squad but that Poch doesn’t use it well.
I also think young players need confidence and that is quickly being eroded.
I do largely blame. Poch. I regret saying that but I do. He picks players out of position and to my way of thinking sets the team up with the w ring mindset. However he did move Sterling to the right which was, in my view, both correct and bold.
in mitigation I do think he’s been unlucky with injuries to nkunkunu and  carney.

But this is where my issue lies.

Does Poch need to hold Gallagher's hand to score that chance? Or that Palmer chance? Or that Jackson chance? Or that fluffed Sterling chance or to instruct Colwill to stay onsides for Sterling's free kick? The issue is that as a collective, there are no established goal scorers. We felt the affects of it last year and we are again feeling the affects of it now, with the board not sorting this issue bar the signing of Nkunku. 1bn spent to rely on ONE player.

Saw this yesterday.

To get 75 points (and an extremely likely top 4 spot), you can drop 39 points across the season.

Chelsea are on 10 already.

Even Callum Wilson in the summer would have helped a lot. Had 12 months left on his contract and coming off 18 goals in the league last season, so far this season he's got 3.

We are so focused on the future we are forgetting about the present. But unfortunately Pochettino will feel the heat in the present if we continue to slip and languish in mid-table.
If we lose 2 out of the next 3 (can easily happen) I can see the entire club go into a state of panic before the horrendous fixtures until December as we could be drawn into a relegation fight with a bunch of no-experience youngsters who's got zero interest in a dirty relegation battle.

I mentioned Callum Wilson on another thread. He would have been a decent, experienced option to provide some goals and help the younger players. Presumably we could have got him at a relatively low price given his age and contract status.

We won't be getting top 4 this season.  We should be more focused on getting in the top half of the table at this point.

The worst part about Pochettino is that we haven't seen him stamp any of his own ideas onto the team. If he has, we aren't seeing it. This is no different than it was before. I think back to Conte and those first few games, he didn't like what he saw so binned the old ways and forced his own image onto the team, something he had already been working on throughout pre season. We need that now more than ever. Ever since Sarri came in, the style of football has been pretty much exactly the same, with the only change being a few decent periods unders Tuchel. We have a fresh group of players, why is it so hard to move away from the type of football we were playing when they weren't even around?

I look at Guardiola, Klopp, Conte, Mourinho, they all came in and instantly changed how the team played under previous coaches. Why are we not seeing that with Pochettino? It just makes me think that he doesn't have his own style and he goes with whatever he has inherited and tries to make it better. We don't need this at Chelsea, we need a complete change to our game. What else can be done with this football that hasn't already been tried, tested and failed under the last 5 managers? Enough is enough, get this sh*t out of club. Fans hate it, the players can't be enjoying it either seeing as they aren't winning. It's the worst brand of football I have witnessed in all my years as a Chelsea fan. I want to see a Chelsea team that puts constant pressure on the oppostion, not giving them a chance to recover after the previous attack. Hit a few long range shots, play a few long balls, play a few quick through balls, make it frustrating to play against us. Teams aren't worried about us passing the ball 5 yards in defence, most teams stand off us and then wait for us to break down from our own mistakes. I want to see our players come off the pitch knowing they put everything into a game. They come off the pitch like they have barely broken a sweat. Kits don't have a bit of dirt on them, not a single hair out of place. Have they been playing a 90+ minute game of football or just gone out for a 5 minute jog?

He doesn't need to hold their hands but we need to at least see a clear system in place that creates good quality chances.

Unless there's a very real chance we're getting relegated there's no reason Poch shouldn't see out the season. Arsenal had B2B finishes outside of Europe with Artete.

The chances we make are often from individual play rather than a good team move that stems from the system.

So are our players young/not good enough? or is the manager not good enough and chances are purely from individual genius?

https://www.premierleague.com/stats/top/clubs/big_chance_created?se=210

We're second in the league to City for big chances created with 81 so far FWIW. (We've scored 5).

A chance is a chance, which we are the 2nd highest in the Prem and 18th lowest in converting.

Well yes but my point is that is part of the reason why we don't score.

You can't rely on individual brilliance every match so when it doesn't happen (i.e Sterling bad run atm) we have to rely on a system that creates half chances at best.

Doesn't matter who the manager is, the players are the ones making these chances from individual play.

I have no idea how a big chance is defined but we had this same issue under Potter (but at least looked better defensively) and I'm pretty sure the stats said we were making plenty of chances under him too.

I don't know what the answer is but I can see the problem a mile away.

Personally I am putting it down to the sheer amount of turnover we've had at the club not the manager.

We have to get a large group of players who've barely played football together and create some sort of chemistry on and off the pitch while also alot of these players have only just reached around 50 competitive games in a top league.

This won't be an overnight thing, it's going to take months if not a season to see some sort of implentation of what Pochettino wants.

Previous managers had a core group of players to work with. First game of the season we only had 3 players in the starting 11 that have been here for more than 2 seasons.

I mean we’ve been handicapped all season with Chilwell at LW and Colwill at LB so obviously the majority of our chance creation will be from the right, and even then we are still 2nd highest in Prem. Mudryk created 2 chances his first start.

I just feel we needed a system manager, someone who knew exactly what football they wanted to play from day 1. Like what Ange has done at Spurs, or what Tuchel did with us when he took over.

We can't have a manager that's going to tinker, because our squad isn't experienced enough to grind games out without being tactically organised. The squad will just become confused, and given the pressure at the club, the knives will be out for the manager within a few months.

Honestly despite the Potter comparisons, somebody like De Zerbi would have been absolutely perfect.

Brighton have scored the most goals in the league and that stat has them down at 18th with 34 big chances created.

Again, I have no idea how they define "big chances" but you can see why I am skeptical.

Think it's very reactionary having a go at the manager.

Sure he's a little at fault for accepting the project but...

Chillwell, Silva, James (Chalobah also but he's not playing) are the only players in the squad that have played a 2 or more competitive seasons of first team football for us. Since the ownership came in we've sold and brought in a silly amount of players. It's basically playing football manager and having expectations for them to gel straight away and produce top 4 results is nothing short of naive. This is not the case of sacking the manager now and bringing in a new one and expecting some sort of uplift, we simply don't have players that know how to do it.

This is the project we have to get used and if we don't give Pochettino at least 2 seasons then the project would be utterly pointless.

Keep changing the manager while we have these younger players now will only hinder their development.

My thing is, if this was the plan all along why not just keep Potter.
