And then the comments about Citeh not being able to afford additional salaries and transfer budgets for a larger squad because of the risk of going bankrupt!! Poor old Pep. Must be really tough for him! And Pep is also right about injuries. If we lose our Kevin DeBruyne, who could be Enzo at a certain point we are in trouble. They have an experienced and settled squad, we have nothing of the sort. If they lose someone the next guy knows what to do as he's done it a million times before. James' and Nkunku's injuries are really bad for us. Our D-line is okay in terms of defending but otherwise we struggle with injuries.
September 20, 20232 yr I thought Enzo was very average in the last game, but I don't blame him. Played out of position. Very dumb. Its how you reduced confidence and breed discontent. A general description of Poch's approach is play defenders and central midfielders in attacking positions and play as many defenders as you can get on the park at one time. Result, team doesn't score, Chilwell looks bad, Enzo starts to look bad, Jackson doesn't have enough support. Left wing left back combination descent exist. Silva is protected and therefore the fact that he isn't up to playing in the premier league in a back four any more is hidden.' All the goal scoring load is on Jackson and Sterling. Sterling has always missed as many as he gets but because of the chances he gets quite a few over the season. Enzo is incredibly unlikely to get to double digit goals in open play. Not his game. A front four out of ( Madueke, Palmer, Sterling, Jackson and Mudryck) should be playing every game with Chukwumeka and Nkunku to bolster the numbers later. The team should be told to forget about 100 points, forget about top four, forget about anything except enjoying their football and going for it. They should be told their job is to be the best version of themselves and have some fun and that their talent will eventually come to the fore if they just enjoy the game. Results may be worse but so what at least they'd be having a go.

We had 6 players out for the 1st PL game, 7 for the 2nd, 9 for the 3rd, 10 for the 4th and 12 for the 5th. Very hard to manage with that level of injuries.

There is no other way to stop the vicious cycle that this club is in.

Did you rate Joao Pedro, Mitoma, or Andringa before they moved to Brighton? They are making immediate impacts. Do you rate Danny Welbeck? This we lack quality excuse is becoming a bit tiresome. Top managers make due with what they have. I don't see Angie from Spurs complaining.
September 20, 20232 yr Less than a month in and we have bellend fans calling for manager to be sacked, and also calling him a c**t. Probably the same kind of "fan" who calls for the club to have a long term view.

Our fan base is clearly turning toxic when even our loyal away fans are booing the players and manager at the last game, even booing Silva. First time I remember being embarrassed by our away fans. However they go to away games and spend their cash to follow us whereas I don't so is also not fair for me to judge really, is it?

I'll be very surprised if there are many fans who rate most brighton player before they came to Brighton. It is not because they are bad player, it is because we have never watched them play at all. 😂😂😂 Welbeck is very good. His linkup player with rooney was fantastic. I think this lacking quality excuse can only go so far when you look at how other clubs are fairing. Welbeck, Mitoma, Joao Pedro, Andringa, Estupinan, and Encinso aren't players I would consider 'high quality' and yet they are taking the piss out of most opposition through good tactics and coaching. Brighton were xG merchants with Potter, saying they lacked goals, and yet that completely changed almost overnight when De Zerbi came. Dahoud has immediately replaced Caicedo and Gilmour is thriving in De Zerbi's set up. 3 minutes ago, Whats_The_Mata? said: Probably because he has much better players than we do Son, Richarlison, Kuliveski and Maddison are all far better attacking players and goal scorers than anyone Poch has had to choose from bar Sterling. Richarlison is leading their line FFS and he just scored his first PL goal in almost a year. Before matchday one almost everyone predicted us to finish above/do better than Spurs.

Predicted us to finish between 10th and 13th and Spurs to finish around 6th or 7th before the season started. They just have a better squad and are a much better ran club than us which is sickening. Richarlison had a bad season last year but he's consistently got double figures in the league and scores for Brazil and with Kane going i thought he along with Son and Maddison could all get 10. I just don't see where the goals are coming from in this squad and you can't win games without goals.

Simply blaming we lack quality through the duration of our bad spell is something I will disagree with when outside examples prove otherwise. 2 minutes ago, Whats_The_Mata? said: I just don't see where the goals are coming from in this squad and you can't win games without goals. In term of brighton player quality, like I said I barely watch them play, maybe they do have better attacking player than us. Coaching wise, maybe you are right. Maybe rdz is a better coach than poch. But coaching is not staggered offensive line, just play this way, move this way, that way poof magic. Furthermore coaching final 3rd is by far the hardest, heck even a circuit based manager like sarri allow freedom in final 3rd. If you watch brighton goal vs united. Do you think de zerbi coach Welbeck to time his run? Or tell pascal gross to dummy Martinez or coach Joao Pedro to do his fantastic finish? While poch coach Mudryk to deliver stomach high cross to Gallagher?
September 20, 20232 yr During the pre season games, there was definite signs of some good chemistry developing, between Jackson, Nkunku and Mudryk. This came to an abrupt stop with Nkunkus injury. Just as Chucky was starting to develop with Jackson, bang he's gone to. Until Poch can select most his best 11, and have time for them to develop and understanding of each others game, we are basically screwed. We're treading water until the injured players can return. Jackson cannot do it on his own, he needs a partner, whether permanent or arriving in the box, for the delicate interplay they were developing in pre season.

Injuries is a really tardy excuse to explain why we're in 14th, struggling to draw with mid table sides and playing like we have for the past four seasons. I was optimistic about this season, its early doors but the warning sirens are really, really loud.

What I do know is that their situation is similar to ours. They've brought in a lot of young inexperienced footballers in a side with not a lot of goals in it. Mitoma and Andringa both have under 100 games of football. Enciso had one full season in Paraguay before he moved to Brighton. Joao Pedro has 40 appearances in top flight football. Ferguson is 18 and Welbeck was never a high profile striker. We can't even blame our scouting anymore when we literally poached them from Brighton. The point I am getting at is that these players will only have an impact when there is a proper system in place. Something that works on exposing the team's strengths and mitigating their weaknesses. You ask, does De Zerbi coach player X to make this run? Finish like that? Make this dummy? I don't know, what I do know is that his system has settled his players and it allows them to play confidently and comfortably, hence the immediate impact new signings/youth players have in the team. Having a flat attacking line is one of the many issues that is wrong with our attack and build up. A lot of it has to do with understanding and I expect a manager as good as Poch to get his ideas across.

There's literally no pressure for trophies at Spurs right now and aslong as Ange has them on a positive trajectory he's probably safe no matter what the results are. Hate to use that bunch as an example but they won't pressure the manager if the signs of progress are there regardless of the results (as we also saw with Poch in his first season there), say we finish 7th but the underlying metrics look good going forward I'd still fancy atleast half the fanbase to be on his case anyway because "only the results count" and it wouldn't shock me if the ownership bow to the pressure and make a change. Pep has changed the game at the top of this league, before it was relatively easy to throw money at it, but now to construct a team/system to even compete with them let alone beat them takes time. I don't feel we have a fanbase with that type of patience sadly, most couldn't handle a "process" season that came with 3rd place and cup finals.
