February 4, 20251 yr Cracking player - can't wait to see him start the next game. A goal scoring freak - superhuman....nailed on superstar..... it would be just my rotten luck if Maresca now drops him.... 🤮🤢
February 4, 20251 yr I had a bit of false hope last night. Probably Jackson's best game this season was West Ham away and early on he played that decent ball to Madueke with the outside of his foot and I thought he might be on it. WRONG! Then he surpassed Tammy Abraham's record of falling over everytime the ball went near him and was rightly hooked early. Has to be dropped. Edited February 4, 20251 yr by Nibs
February 4, 20251 yr Yep, has to be dropped now - his form has been poor for too long. Only problem is - who the hell do we drop him for?

Guiu needs some games to adjust to the PL and he's 19, but he offered more when he came on than Jackson. Give Guiu a few starts and see how he develops.

Thing is, Guiu didn't offer more... I don't think Jackson did much at all, but he created a good chance for Noni early on and also started another counter later in the first half. When he was fouled, which lead to Palmer nearly scoring that freekick, people next to me in the MHL were swearing at him to stay up and be strong. The bias is nuts. Guiu did nothing of note and if it had been Jackson standing in the goalmouth instead of Guiu for the first goal, I'm sure a number of people would be slating him for "getting in the way" or some other nonsense. There isn't enough patience from the fans to truly give Guiu a run of games in the PL. 1-2 games where he doesn't score and the negativity will boil out of the stands and knock his confidence. It was a terrible atmosphere in the first half last night with West Ham making all the noise. Thankfully the second half performance improved both on the pitch and from the fans.

A number of things there for me Shweaves. Firstly, the bit I bolded. Guiu didn't just stand in the box on the first goal. He ran, jumped and attacked the cross as a proper centre-forward should. Jackson never does that......... ever! Guiu is nearly always moving in the box trying to create an angle, trying to cut in front of a defender, because he is a natural CF. He has been trained and coached to do that all his football life. Jackson hasn't and doesn't. His in-box movement is generally dreadful. Watch him, and tell me how many times he anticipates and attempts to cut across a defender to get a yard on a near post ball. Not many, because Jackson is not, never has been, and never will be a proper centre-forward.

Stupid position to take. A young boy (Guiu) comes on, with the team losing. He replaces a player who has consistently been given game after game, despite being one of the worst players to ever play for us. Following the sub, Chelsea go on to turn the game around - scoring 2 goals, and winning it. Ok - Guiu didn't score - but the assertion that the change didn't help, or that we expected more from him - despite him hardly getting a look in for most of the season, is both harsh and ludicrous. He deserves a run of games. He played a part in us turning around a loss into a win - and Jackson has been trash for ages. Guiu has to start.
February 5, 20251 yr The fact this thread has more pages than Reece James tells you all you need to know.

Just as I started to like him - he gets injured and misses the game against Brighton. He is now my favourite chelsea player....I really hope he gets better and doesn't miss anymore games.....
February 10, 20251 yr From the Guardian's FA Cup roundup: Jackson is missed as Chelsea splutter As Enzo Maresca was keen to point out, Chelsea’s toothless display at Brighton highlighted how reliant they have become on Nicolas Jackson to lead the line. The Senegal forward missed the game due to injury, and Christopher Nkunku, who is much better suited to a deeper role, failed to impress in his place. The teenage back-up striker Marc Guiu is set to be out for an extended period but Maresca seemed more positive about Jackson’s chances of returning for Chelsea’s return trip to the Amex in the Premier League on Friday night. “It won’t be long but we will see if he will be available for the next game,” he said. “Sometimes I think you need to play some games without players to realise how important they are. Off the ball, his pressing is always very good and, on the ball, he is a threat always.” Ed Aarons

February 10, 20251 yr That's a really funny after thought post cup game, I mean how many games have we lost when he was playing in recent months? We been missing a good striker, and unfortunately Nkunku hasn't stepped up and the young striker is out for the season. How much we miss Jackson is just a whole debate not going to get into right now.

It is a sorry state of affairs.
February 12, 20251 yr Chelsea in striker shortage with Nicolas Jackson ruled out until April Jackson out until April...
February 12, 20251 yr What a blow. Spotlight on Maresca now, he's going to have to do something more clever than sticking a listless Nkunku up front and shrugging when he can't perform Jackson's role. I wonder what Maresca's breaking point is. Surely there's a point at which he says "yes, the cretins who run the club have sold me up the river with their idiotic squad planning. What do you want from me?"
February 12, 20251 yr At least Nkunku should get a run of games now. Not that I think he’s a striker but at least he’ll grow into the role and if we’re lucky, Jackson isn’t getting back in the side when fit.
February 12, 20251 yr I suppose even throwing in an academy player for minutes isn’t the biggest risk in the world now. They’re all around the same age.
February 12, 20251 yr I was drawn here as I thought I heard a loud shout and tears of joy. What's going on @nonotnowjim?
February 12, 20251 yr At least Nukunku will get consistent starts ( if he wanted it). Alternative is some kind of false 9, but we don't have that much choices either, maybe give James a go there, he's got a good shot even when he's not match fit😁 How many first team players are we missing now, seems to be quickly adding up without notice. It's not long ago we have an overloaded squad, now we looked pretty thin.
February 12, 20251 yr As much as I didn't care much for Tel, in hindsight he could have played the striker role for us. Not to say he would have done much, but he was really the only legitimate target we could have got without paying crazy amounts of money. Then again, I would have been fine with what we had, but now Guiu is out too, it makes it all the more frustrating that we have both strikers out.
