The fee is really low so I figured it was a matter of time until there were some PL links but I imagine his wage package would be high and I don’t see how he fits into the current squad

Is he willing to take 100k a week over a 8 year contract with multiple bonuses?

Double he earns much more in Roma tbh. Maybe Winstanley would be willing to give him 150k a week

When fully fit he's some player to be fair

at €12m you'd think he'd make a great, cheap, backup for Nkunku. But I'm not sure he'd be interested in coming if he's not viewed as a first choice player.

Would be a sensible move to add someone of his experience to our attack. He has a poor injury record but he's arguably the best player in Serie A when he plays, it's all good signing kids but if we want to achieve top 4 this season then we should look at him as cost effective short term option to take us to that level now while those younger players mature.

Not sure if this is even a rumour, but we need an experienced ( not retiring) attacker, and he fits the bill. His get out clause is pocket change, of course his agent will demand a good pay day, but shouldn't be that outrageous.  We were happy to give Mount 200k a week, Dybala's track record deserve something around that range. He's never going to last at Roma, it's just a matter of time before a bigger team buys him out.

Maybe worth a go .

he also will add experience and depth. He is very injury prone though but could be a decent squad player I think

High wages, injury prone. He will fit right in. Loan him back to Italy in January.

Wouldn’t touch him with a barge pole. He is going to be 30 by the time the season starts, not worth gambling on players from Serie A at that age. He is on around £130k/w at Roma, has 2yrs left on his contract. Makes no sense taking a pay cut. On those wages he needs to be a starter, and we already have Nkunku in his position. This just feels like his agent shopping him around to see if any team bites.

This is a poor man’s Joao Felix only later on in his career when everyone’s realised he wasn’t really as good as the hype.  Plus he’s now lost the spark he had initially that made him a potential star, just looking for one last pay day.

It’s a no from me next Higuian/Pato/Falcao.

Lost his spark to be a potential star? The guy is a star, he's won multiple scudettos and italian cups for a dominant Juve side, he's getting very good numbers for Mourinho (who loves him) and is a big game player for them. He's been one of the best if not the best player in that league since he joined Juve.

The only downside is injuries but we have options to rotate. He's a perfect squad rotation option for the next 2 years and if Pochettino wants him, we should be all over him for that price.

Man City just spent 30m on a 29 year old Kovavic, if the quality is there we shouldn't laugh off that league and age.

Maybe I've been burned too many times with these kind of striker transfers.  I mean hasn't Juan Cuadrado got the same trophy haul with probably more playing time for that same dominant Juve side?  Higuain himself was the main striker in the same team and look how that turned out.  I will say I've seen little of his Roma career, but for me he's never really matched his early Juve performances.

The injury record is something that is only going to get worse with age and as we've seen with Kante it doesn't matter how good you are if we can't get them on the pitch.  You can only be good a rotation option if you're fit when required.

I dont think we should be ruling out certain players because we have been burned in the past. It makes sense you feel that way but we have to look at each player individually, Cuadrado did not work out here but he's still a good player and has done well for Juve. As we know many didn't work out here under Mourinho and Higuain was loaned at 31/32 and was already showing signs of waning but Higuain as a player is still better than strikers we've had here over the last few years. Serie A is still a very competitive league, both Milan teams made it to the last 4 of the champions league and Roma made the final of EL.

He has 25 starts in Serie A, 18 goal/assists in his first season at Roma. If we had a team of experienced wingers/forwards I would probably be against it but we have 2 young quality players in Mudryk, Madueke and someone new to the league in Nkunku. I highly doubt they will set the world alight next season as it takes time because of their age so why not bring someone in to ease the burden a bit and who's cheap.

I think it will be a bit foolish of us to bring in another expensive youngster to compete alongside Mudryk and Madueke, we have to go with those and show faith in the investments that we have made.

I always think its worrying when agents act like a door to door salesman and offer their player up.

Think he's finished.

I know what you're saying it's all just opinions really.  Most of us thought Werner would be a success and feel the same way about Nkunku, in the end even the guys paid to do this are getting it wrong so its not like anyone can be certain of who's will succeed here.   I agree we could do with a more experienced player in attack, but I'd prefer more of a Giroud style player.

His clause is well known and agents act like door to door salesmen no matter the player and his age. How is he finished when he's producing those numbers? He's producing similar stats to Leao/Kvaratskhelia in alot less games.

We have Mudryk, Nkunku, Sterling, Madueke as options to play across the 3 behind the striker and you probably need someone in there to cover right wing and Nkunku. Do we go for a Cherki who's 19 years old and will probably cost another 70m or do we bring in a cheap experienced player who can play across those positions. Im not saying Cherki won't come good, he may but we already have big investments in his position.

Dybala for something like 2 years to get us through a teething period for 10m just makes sense.
