Robert Sanchez joins Chelsea

LR won't last long if he thinks he knows best and like Maresca, too stubborn to admit when he's wrong.

Sanchez last night was exactly the same Sanchez all CFC supporters despised. He CANNOT play the ball out from the back. Arsenal could and should have punished us more last night as we had no idea what we were doing every time it went back to Sanchez. It made horrendous viewing and needs to be canned immediately.

it was laughable - literally. A fair few in west upper were actually laughing at how bad and predictable it was.

Doesn't matter if it was goal kicks or back passes, the lad has no clue

You'll regret saying that once you see Penders in goal for us. The guy is nowhere near ready. He won't get the time on the ball that he gets in France and in the Conference League. He's closer to a Jorgensen level goalkeeper than he is a Sanchez one.

To be fair I'm saying this from a point of view of Sanchez being the perfect representation of this ownership. Mediocre with occasional high spots before the return to mediocre. And from Brighton.

He gets the ball has players either side of him then he puts his foot on the ball

The opposition press him and the 2 either side of him

He now has nowhere to go but forward so he plays a pass into mid that is cut out 50% of the time or he kicks it into touch

Rinse and repeat countless times

He’s awful

I'd say Teddy Sharman-Lowe from the academy is as good as any of the other young keepers on current form. He's enjoyed a decent loan with Bolton this season and is apparently being recalled. The academy has produced just as many decent players as we have signed since Clearlake took over. Thank goodness Roman left that in good shape, although Clearlake are probably going to destroy that too.

He was recalled because Bolton dropped him. I don't think he's the answer.

I'm finding this laughable. Sanchez had a poor game and suddenly all the good he's done in the last 15-20 or so matches has been wiped out. The man is a great shotstopper, as seen from the big save at 1-3 down.

He is not amazing with short passing, which isn't helped by the defenders either side of him. Our first goal came from sanchez knocking it long to Estevao, after Guiu was taken off. I think we were much better at mixing it up (short or long) in the second half when Sanchez had more options long.

Bad mistake for the second goal and missed the ball on the corner. But then again, so did Kepa for our second.

Bolton fans are quite amused that the press narrative has been "Chelsea recalled him after a successful loan" rather than "Bolton sent him back because he wasn't very good"

Apparently he had the 3rd worst save percentage for goalkeepers in League One.

Presumably our Head of Global Goalkeeping Ben Roberts will get a deal extension soon as per the usual BlueCo MO ...

This is the life of a goalkeeper though. Two howlers in the same game, both pivotal to the flow of the game and the result. Regardless of how well he has done and how good the other aspects of his game are, he's done. Its unfortunate because nobody will pay attention to how poor the alternatives are, but Sanchez is pretty much done. He should have feigned an injury when LR was appointed and got his agent to get him a move to Spain. At Athletico Madrid Oblak is 33 and Musso is 31

This pattern comes directly from the manager it’s exactly the same pattern Maresca started with until he realised it would get him sacked as we weren’t signing a new keeper so he abandoned it and miraculously Sanchez turned ina very good keeper.

LR as undone all that good work in the 6 days he’s had with the players

Makes you think it must be a club decision on how we want to play ...

How can your only job in life be to learn how to play football and you can’t play out from the back though? How can you have been practicing for 20 years and still not be able to see a player and kick the ball in a straight line to them. Mind boggling.

I wonder the same thing when Garnacho routinely blazes 9 shots out of 10 way over the bar !

I don’t buy that. He isn’t an awful keeper. Managers trying to make him play a system that exposes his biggest weakness is very much awful though.

I’m very worried about Rosenior now. You’d think he would know that Sanchez and Jorgensen struggle massively.

This very much reeks of another stubborn coach who thinks he’s a genius but has absolutely no plan B when found out. We went longer in the 2nd half but still gave possession away in our defensive third countless times.

Shove your “control” up your hoop and play to the strengths of the squad which in my opinion is counter attacking football.

Early days but the other night gave me the fear. Once we got out of their press we actually played some decent stuff but we will be continually chasing games with his fear of giving away possession from a goal kick turning into cheap goals.

Agree LR thinks hes an innovator , believes that Sanchez and Jorgensen are world class with their feet and that he will introduce a new tactical approach in due course! 😳 If he still here in a few months i fear our keepers will be advancing towards the half way line as a matter of course.

Pretty sure LR had Strasbourg playing this way so it shouldn't be a surprise to see him trying it here too.

He had a cracker on Saturday. I thought he was our best player, varied playing it short with playing it long and was dominant in the box. Glad to see that after Wednesday night's performance.

Considering he's labelled as a disaster keeper, he ain't doing bad with 10 clean sheets so far in the PL.

FYI it's 9 clean sheets, which is joint 2nd in the PL, and 2 behind Arsenal who have 11.

Still pretty good considering how dodgy our defence looks in many games !
