But we are getting too old to cope with 2 days of rest between games. When do you want us to recover from the hungover from the pre-match and post-match drinking?

The answer is quite logical and every true loyal Chelsea alcoholic knows the answer. You only get a hangover once you stop the drinking, therefore perseverance is the key. Keep drinking and never stop or waiver from the true path. Sobriety is a fools paradise.

Defeat inevitable then.

There was an injury table I saw today ... seems like we've had a terrible season in that regard, and yet there are three clubs worse off than us for player absence, Brentford being one of them.

Looking at the Top 10, it is significant injuries all round basically, which probably points at the modern-day intensity of the league as the reason why (with apologies to all the Pochettino naysayers who like to blame all our injuries on his training methods, with side swipes at our "crap" Cobham medical team and training pitches).

In Chelsea’s case the same players are out injured. We’ve not really seen feature over 300 mill quids worth of talent because they appear to be sick notes.

As for tomorrow, I’m optimistically going 1-2. But wtf knows what lineup Poch goes with. I hope never to see Sanchez and his 2 bob passing out from the back giving away chance after chance leading to goals conceded ever again so he will start, Trev must be in the shop window so expect that winning pair back for an encore . Enzo and Caciedo have to play, Gallagers on a streak so defo start as he was rested midweek, Jacko , Sterling, Palmer. As for fatigue set in the squad , really ? The youngest squad in the league with no European comp is tired. If so the coaching team need to look at fitness levels instead of barbecues .

Knackered? Maybe. I always thought that the fans were made of sterner materials. Tougher. Stronger. Sturdier. Unbreakable and indomitable of spirit.

Do not worry about a thing. . . because every little thing is going to be alright.

Living through a match, hoping on the basis of a 10-minute good spell, clinging on desperately to that hope for the rest of the dismal display, the yelling, the groaning.... it's energy-sapping.

Brentford have:

- massive injuries

- poor run of form (only 4 wins at home all season)

Therefore, I can only see one winner.

Brentford unfortunately.

We’ll dominate, fail to score and then Toney will go up the other end and score. We’ve seen it all before.

Gallagher has scored 4 goals in the last 5 games playing at number 10 ... ?

Yeah, I don’t have a problem with him playing there. But today certainly feels like a good game for Mudryk, I’m pretty sure Brentford will be sitting back and looking to counter us, so it would be good to have more attackers.

Indeed. Small sample size though. He has certainly found goalscoring form, although his poor finishing cost us badly in the cup final and to remain at 10 he needs to score consistently. Those 4 goals represent over half his goal returns across his entire Chelsea career.

Based on this season it would be extremely difficult to argue that Conor is a natural number 10. But let's hope, if he does start at 10, he proves me wrong and bags another couple of goals or assists today.

#10 has always been a bit of a compromise this season after the injuries to Nkunku and Chukwuemeka. Probably the two players I was looking forward to seeing the most based on how they were playing in pre-season ... particularly Chukky. Thought this one was going to be his break out season :-(

Yes Chukky looks a hell of a player - physically and technically. The goal against West Ham should have been the start of a great season for him.

Didn't he come on in one match after recovery, only to be injured again, following the Nkunku route?

Carney and fofana will basically miss the first two seasons of their Chelsea contract. Ugo, Lavia nkunku will miss their first season. Mudryck could play 10 but  I get the vibe Poch won’t pick him twice on a row that would be too risky. Casadei can spell either Enzo or Caicedo for we minutes. Even Lee Casteldine could do 10 minutes at 10. Plenty of options. Especially those starting with C
