With the emergence of Estevao, the SDs will probably consider offers for Palmer.

You stop that, right now!

I thought the same a few weeks ago....

I have more of an issue with allowing Paqueta to get a shot away without getting closed down and Sanchez not reading the flight of the ball.

Oh, Sanchez inability to move his left arm is ridiculous.

Understand why Caicedo tried to cover the pass though.

But ultimately, if we don't lose the ball, they don't score.

I am not against him trying things like this. Could have resulted in a one-two and boom, we’re running towards goal.

We don’t want a player like this to be scared to sh*t of losing the ball. This kid needs a bit of freedom to realise his potential.

Never should have resulted in a goal either way. It was a great strike, but no one closed him down and Sanchez used the wrong hand to parry the ball.

It was a good performance from Estevao, although he maybe didnt deserve the MOM. The run for the assist was great. The maturity to take the extra touch when reaching the byline instead of rushing it was class. It’s a small thing, but something that very good players do.

Its not difficult to have 11 footballers who don't lose the ball.

You just end up though with a forum full of people complaining about sideways passes

There is a happy medium though... It doesnt need to be either Endless sideways and backwards passes or high risk flicks and tricks.

Press and win the ball, pass the ball progressively with speed and runners, create space. If we lose the ball, press and hunt until we win it back. Its all about the energy, speed and intent with how we play - and moving away from the sleep inducing dross Maresca has had us playing in the EPL.

I love he’s trying that just maybe a little further forward that’s my only feedback. I don’t want him to stop trying his flicks because if he does then that’s all his unpredictable gone. Let him be free and play.

He will be a superstar!!

Spot on. The first 10 minutes of that game we were turgid. Tosin struggled to find a pass to Chalobah over five yards, we couldnt retain the ball, we were all over the place, thought West spam were going to have one of those games.

In one game and one run and cut back he's shown he's got more than Madueke so he now gets a free pass from me for the season. Contrast the sulk Arsenal signed from us to this gent. Plays the game in the right spirit. Just hope he gets protection from the ref casue a few more showings like that and the oppos studs will be out.

No chance, I get that to some people on here they're public enemy number 1 but they're not that stupid.

If Estevao continues in hot form and others continue to do well Palmer might not play as often.

Palmer as Pep realised is not a traditional player yet when you start to build a strong traditional sides he may struggle to nail down a place.

For me it depends on Estevao and Joao Pedro continuing to play well we have strong competition in attacking positions and of course injuries can change things.

It will be interesting to see how this unfolds.

Dont agree with this. I think it has been clear from the management, media, and most importantly the performances, that Palmer is key, and will almost certainly continue to play a huge role for us. He is in the conversation for Balon D'or. You dont just bench that.

We just signed Cucurella to a new deal, I don’t think we have to worry about losing our best players, including the senior ones.

They will want legacy stars alongside their assets. Also the only club that would pay the 200m Palmer is actually worth, is PSG. And I dont think Palmer would go there.

Win win for us.

Good performance today - tried to make things happen. Lots more to come, and can tell they’re somewhat protecting him. Came quite close to a goal before being subbed.

Feels like he has levels to go. Exciting.

should have scored. Like him a lot

Unpopular opinion. Think the kid is being massively overrated.

For his age, he looks a good player who i hope can develop but I've seen absolutely nothing that has made me think WOW.

Compare this to Hazard (greatest player in our history) who I know was like 21/22, gave me the wow factor from day 1.

With Estevao, ill see so much hype for him online, then i watch the goal back and its some rebound or tap in from 2 yards.

I was very impressed with his goal against us in the CWC though. Really hope he lives up to his hype and doesnt turn out to be another Oscar.

Hazard gave everybody the wow factor because he was a talent, but also had 4 full seasons of 40+ matches at Lille by the time he came to Chelsea. Not really fair to compare Estevao to that kind of player. The Eden Hazard of 2009 did not look in any way close to the one of 2012 that Chelsea signed. The same way the Salah of Chelsea looked like a totally different player than the one Liverpool signed.

Nike signed Estevao at 10 years old for his potential and then Chelsea signed him for the same reason. Now it is time to develop. Impossible to draw any conclusions for an 18 years old kid with not even 2 months in European football.
