Hazard gave everybody the wow factor because he was a talent, but also had 4 full seasons of 40+ matches at Lille by the time he came to Chelsea. Not really fair to compare Estevao to that kind of player. The Eden Hazard of 2009 did not look in any way close to the one of 2012 that Chelsea signed. The same way the Salah of Chelsea looked like a totally different player than the one Liverpool signed.

Nike signed Estevao at 10 years old for his potential and then Chelsea signed him for the same reason. Now it is time to develop. Impossible to draw any conclusions for an 18 years old kid with not even 2 months in European football.

Dont want to overhype this lad... However, when Don Carlo speaks so highly of him, probably worth marking it. Fingers crossed.

Unpopular opinion. Think the kid is being massively overrated.

For his age, he looks a good player who i hope can develop but I've seen absolutely nothing that has made me think WOW.

Compare this to Hazard (greatest player in our history) who I know was like 21/22, gave me the wow factor from day 1.

With Estevao, ill see so much hype for him online, then i watch the goal back and its some rebound or tap in from 2 yards.

I was very impressed with his goal against us in the CWC though. Really hope he lives up to his hype and doesnt turn out to be another Oscar.

I don't think it is fair to compare any kids talent to Hazard.

We can never have nice things. Soon as we do, someone's gonna come and say some bs like overrated or whatever.

Wouldn't worry yourself, we had fans on here telling us Hazard was overrated when we signed him too.

Put it in the pile of comments with things like "these 74 charges means all Chelsea won between 2009 and 2022 dont count".

  • 3 weeks later...

No, he’s not overrated—there is no delusion about that he can and cannot do atm. From a Brazilian POV we expect him to be R9, r10 level because he’s the most promising talent we’ve seen in a long while (since Neymar).

He’s 18, so obviously some ways to go. If reaching vini jr, or rodrygo level is his ceiling, well that would be a disappointment in my book.

Clueless they were. I was so hyped the moment we signed Hazard and he was the dream I always dreamed of. So good, I named my son after him.

Not going to look for it bit I did say before this kid is special and he is ready now. He needs to play and is a football crime if we are not starting him regularly.

He is not one of the many, he is a Zola, a hazard, a Drogba. A once in a generation talent.

On this I will give blueco and the directors massive credit. He is special.

We're talking bigger than that, he might just become the second CFC Uefa player of the year in our history in due time, he's the Brazilian Messi if that's even allowed to be.

Kid is a winner.

Next season is when I expect him to start showing weekly flashes of a future superstar. For now he must get used to European football, the British culture, the Premier League pace, needs to put some muscle on. Everything he does this season is a bonus and goals like this against Liverpool works wonders for his confidence.

Yeah rightyho.

PSG, Barcelona, Madrid and Bayern would all use him as a late "Hail Mary" option from the bench....... Not.

Difficult to know with WC in the mix.

No pressure tho. :)

George Best began playing regular first-team football for Manchester United when he was 17 - back when it was a "man's game" as Souness called it lol

He was a skinny bugger too - generally goes with the age.

Estavao is probably one of the most, if not the most, talented player we've ever had at Chelsea - it's a no brainer - he should start - he needs regular playing time to develop his game and become the star he is obviously destined to be.

Love this lad.

Love the fact he plays with a smile.

Love the fact he is brave to try and get the ball up the pitch quickly.

Love the fact that he has vision and can back it up with good passing/crossing

Love his instant control

Love how he seems to be so silky with the ball.

Steve-O ....what a lovely boy.

Who is the last Brazilian teenager that you know of to have come in Europe aged 18 or younger and instantly become a starter for a big club? Inb4 you think of Neymar, he was already 21 when he came to Barcelona.

Vinicius Jr. was 18 and only imposed himself by the 3rd season. And frankly he looked like a clown up until then. Rodrygo also came when he was 20 and did not play that much in his first seasons and mostly came from the bench.

Endrick? Nowhere to be seen at Madrid.

Vitor Roque at Barcelona? Massive transfer fee two years ago, now back to the Brazilian league already.

The step from a different continent and culture might not be as straightfoward as you think.

Think he'll be bullied out of games if he starts all the time, managed integration to the team is probably the best route for him so happy to see him off the bench for some games and starting in others... I do think he'll need to learn to protect himself as teams like Leeds and Burnley will try and kick him off the park.

Top top talent there for all to see. Clearly starting to enjoy life in UK - hope he's got thermal gloves and waterproofs for the winter and ready for the heavy pitches.

Exquisite player, loves playing puts in a shift in defence too.

I just don't get why they thought it was appropriate for the antique of a defender that is Robertson to attempt to mark him, really. 🤔

He is brilliant but that's a big call. Let's hope he has this kind of impact.

Kerkez, who continues to struggle, was subbed at 55 mins for Robertson. Enter Esteavo at 75 mins.
