Your Summer 24 Squad Choices?

Featured Replies

Probably a bit of a mix of what I would want and what I think is possible.

I've got Chilly going, that wouldn't really be by request but if we do move on a LB i think he is the most likely given how Cucurella has performed. I've also put Trev leaving, again not my choice but I do think if we had to sell for 'pure profit' Poch would stomach Trev going better than Conor. Im getting rid of Sanchez, dont know how given how long his contract is but I think we get a new number 1 and petrovic is a fine number 2.

Good template!

I agree with you mostly, but I think two senior players we should be looking to offload are Sterling AND Chilwell.

I think Chilwell has become a liability and it's not spoken about enough, high wages, barely plays, is turning 28 this year, and for me he hasn't put in a good performance in years. I'm far from a Cucurella fan but I would rather keep Cucu as a backup who is less injured, fits the current system better, and is younger.

Selling Badiashile and not Chalobah is probably optimistic on my part as the profit will be bigger for Chalobah, but one can hope the latter stays instead.

I think Omari needs another loan first, I'm on the fence with giving Angelo another loan or giving him a shot at the first team next season, I think he's got potential.

Mudryk is a difficult one but I think a loan to Dortmund would be perfect for him that could come to fruition. He's too inconsistent at Chelsea and he's 24 soon, he's not exactly wonderkid age. The more he stays at Chelsea the less he develops his game and the more his value decreases, a good loan would probably do him really well.

To Sign:

-First Choice Keeper (I like Petrovic but he's not ready to be relied upon as Number 1)

-New LB should Maatsen be sold (which is likely unfortunately)

-New Striker (We can't rely on Jackson as our main forward every game again)

-New CB (Very difficult, but if we could find someone experienced to fill the gap for Silva, that would be welcoming)

Aaaand maybe a new LW to fill the hole of Sterling/Mudryk should they both go.

Surprised how many want Chalobah sold seeing as him and Colwill will be our strongest pairing next season.

I think he's finished the season well but I don't know if he has done enough to clearly distance himself from 2 other CB's in our squad. I agree, right now I think he would start but is the gap big enough and clear enough to convince the board. Which, when they plan our squad for next year and we need to raise funds, I think he'll be seen as someone who we can get value for in a position we have already invested heavily in

herein lies my biggest problem with Clearlake. I can't for the life of me fathom why we signed Disasi when we had Chalobah there.

Our academy should be first and foremost used to bolster the squad depth, if they're good enough they'll then start. Colossal waste of money which we now need to sell academy lads to cover and further weaken the squad.

Clearly a last minute signing due to injuries. I would be shocked if he was scouted long term and deemed better than what we already had.

I'm not going to pretend like i was an avid fan before his season at Spurs this year but Van De Ven was signed for 4M more just 4 days after we signed Disasi. Surely our scouting department can do better.

Played virtually every game in the first half of the season. Excellent squad choice.

Yeah when Colwill was being forced to play LB. Should have been Silva and Colwill starting at CB.

We signed Koulibaly for 30m, to sell him after a year for 20m, to sign a younger Koulibaly for 40m and stick him on a 7 year deal. Mental.

If we just want squad depth should have just kept Ampadu for another year.

I don't know Disasi screams like a Poch signing considering his season long rant of wanting height.

Only players I'd actively look to get rid of are Kepa, Lukaku, and Sarr. Strength in depth will be vital next season and I doubt we'll find many suitors for the likes of say Sterling or Chilwell.

Can see the argument behind Sterling being a good rotational player. But at least Sterling has done something this season, Chilwell misses 80% of the season and hasn't turned up when fit. And he's on good wages, get rid at the first opportunity IMO, and if there's a chance Maatsen returns here he should be our LB.

I don't rate any of their CB signings over Chalobah based on what we have seen so far. Silva, Colwill and Chalobah are our current best CB's and they were all here before Clearlake.

I personally want to try and sell both but one thing I'm scratching my head at is how it seems widely agreed Petrovic and Sanchez is a Cech/Hilario esque gap.
