Watching the slow death vs Benfica

Maresca says he wants to control games, but his slow football cedes control. We cannot do anything in this have without Benfica's 'permission'; any chance created is due to an unforced error by them.

Our CBs are literally walking during build-up and are clearly instructed not to run into space. This means we have to speed up the attack in the most congested area of the pitch, so we lose the ball, and then the static CBs playing a high line means they are immediately put under pressure.

This football hurts our defence and attack.

And our eyes.

Utter shambles in the PSG vs Barcelona game tonight. Two teams passing the ball forward, defenders passing quickly, midfielders creating chances for strikers, attackers dribbling their man.

Have these coaches not realised that modern football has moved past this? Dinosaurs.

This is far worst than what we saw under Sarri. He makes Sarri ball look quick!!!

Sarri being bad is maybe the worst myth ever created on internet among the fans.

It was amazing if you watch games on a spread sheet via stats.

If you actually watched the football matches, it was dire, boring dross. Slow, sideways, backwards. recycle for the sake of recycling. Risk averse. inch up the pitch, then get a nose bleed, so quickly send it back to the cbs and start again.

It was RUBBISH

This is positional ball which is what Maresca is employing.

He is clueless.

Let's just say that you have XI of the most positionally aware and dedicated players ever. They never leave their position, and they work 100% to the managers positional plan.

We still don't score goals - because the way he makes them play is so slow and risk averse, that the opposition has all the time in the world to get back, reset and sit deep - which in turn closes down all the space.

Absolutely pointless having players in the "correct position" to the nearest cm, if there is no space on the pitch, or urgency to move the ball quickly to create the space.

Yes, and it's absolute sh*t. Imagine telling Hazard, Salah, Messi, Ronaldinho to play this fake controlled sh*t. That is what he is doing to Palmer and will do to Estevao. He'll turn them into robots when they should be doing what PSG or Barcelona's youngers do.

The opposite is true.

It was all about movement without the ball.

2 Cup finals, top 3 finish, got the best out of so many players, there actually wasn't a single one that didn't enjoy attacking under Sarri, including Kante.

This kinda how a lot of teams play this day offensively.

Maresca, slot, pep, arteta, etc.

Some is more restrictive, some is looser. Some allow more dribbling, some doesn't. It also depend on the player quality.

But the idea is simple, the manager want to attack/build certain way so he want player in specific position in a given situation. You can tell when team playing like this, the spacing between player is perfect, the rest defense is perfect, there isn't much movement and everyone is "correct" position. And by far the most IMPORTANT, tacticos loves you. Most tacticos think Ance cannot coach/a dinosaur because it is difficult to see his plan.

I think you can do this with Salah. Not with Hazard, Messi, Ronaldinho. I think dani alves talk about pep didn't like pass from fb to winger but alves said that you need to keep Messi involve more what because he will win the game for you.

This is just my personal opinion. I think playing positional ball is better in term of getting result, you minimize risk, you maximize your advantage, from structure/tactical pov you will rarely be out coached and defensively especially in term of rest defense it is not even comparable.

However from entertainment pov 😴😴😴

I’m convinced these people don’t watch our games and just check sofascore after. The games under Sarri were just as boring and torrid as we’re now seeing under Maresca. Hazard knowing it was his last season with us and carrying us on his back to success is the only thing that kept him in a job.

Chelsea's Hazard on Sarri criticism: I don't care

Sarri criticised Hazard after Chelsea's 2-0 defeat to Arsenal and made a remarkable claim that some players are "extremely difficult to motivate."

Learn ball. “Everyone enjoyed attacking under Sarri” even though we lost Hazard (scored most of our goals under Sarri) and scored more the following season.
