Pep-copycats invariably fail because they obsess over the tactics that are the least important factor in his success. Even Pep himself copied "tiki-taka" at Barcelona from Luis Aragones, and the tactic itself came about because both managers actually listened to the players instead of trying to impose some sort of genius on them. That requires humility, which a lot of the new wave of Pep disciples do not have, and Maresca certainly does not.2 hours ago, axman2526 said:Winning on the spreadsheets, not the pitch. They're not even doing that. The new model is the same as the old model, except this time it's being implemented by actual idiots.
October 27, 2025Oct 27 This is not just about arse, but this is how you build a title contender and this pretty known. "analyze what kind of player that you need to add to take the team to the next level"

Whether that works or not remains to be seen. Edited October 27, 2025Oct 27 by axman2526

Whether that works or not remains to be seen.I think it's a lot worse than that, because even that gives them way too much credit.Their "plan" was to buy a football club and ride the wave of inflation. Boehly confirmed as much when he said "the trend is our friend". They've executed their plan already and all this operational stuff is just window-dressing and making it up as it goes. The club could make an actual loss every year for the next 20 and they'd still sell at a profit so long as football itself is able to transfer capital from oil states desperate for legitimacy to debt-ridden Western investors. The fastest way for them to make money is to support globalised expansion of the PL and you can see from BlueCo's voting record this is exactly what they are doing. They will not sell until we have corporatised fan cultures and levels of monetisation and PL rounds played in the USA or Saudi. The player trading and sporting side are just the ego side boost. This is a lossless gamble from a corporation who got extremely lucky and bought at the right time. 500m wasted on a Neto or Garnacho here or there means nothing in the grand scheme of things.
October 27, 2025Oct 27 We're all wasting our breath as we know he ain't going anywhere. We all have to continue to "trust the process".If Roman was still in charge I'd like to think he would currently be reviewing a short-list of 3 names:GlasnerIraolaFabregasAnyone of those would improve us massively.
October 27, 2025Oct 27 JUVENTUS HAVE FIRED THEIR MANAGER THIS MORNING, THIS COULD BE MARESCAS WAY OUT
October 27, 2025Oct 27 With Juventus sacking their coach I think we all need to say our prayers tonight and then they hopefully come for the bald one and he accepts.PLEASE, make it happen.

October 27, 2025Oct 27 Yep if Maresca goes and a Poch-like manager comes in Gusto will be top attacking right back for us.

October 28, 2025Oct 28 I'd rather go for a bit of steady hand experience rather than another reactively young inexperienced manager. Of the completely available (and therefore cheaper) options I'd be sacking Maresca and brining in Spalletti (if he is interested) on maybe a 2.5 year deal.
