Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall - Decent Squad Player

Featured Replies

If Maresca had asked for him you'd think he'd play him more. He doesn't even make the first-team matchday squad half the time. He has played less than one half of football in the league.

Leicester certainly needed the money for PSR, he doesn't fit the profile of the pure potential players that BlueCo have been targeting, nor is he high enough quality to fit the 'ready-made' player profile that Clearlake targeted. Obviously I don't know for sure what the reason for signing him was, but it doesn't appear to be for football reasons. It's a shame, his minutes could be going to Chukwuemeka.

I now suspect it was probably was part of Maresca compensation.

Entirely possible that he did ask for him before realising the stark difference in his ability compared to our other players.

Maresca wanted him obviously. I don't believe for a second the narrative that he was brought in to help educate the squad in Maresca's style. £30m for a set of training wheels? Spare me. He was fundamental to Maresca's success at Leicester so likely some sort of loyalty. I think it's mainly a case of Maresca overestimating his ability.

Most likely this. He was about to move to Brighton so not like the Kellyman deal where it was obvious that was done for FFP purposes. KDH would be at Brighton had we not entered the race. He rejected Brighton. In hindsight, atm, the wrong move but long season ahead.

We seem to have bought players who don’t have a position in our team.

Carney

KDH

Nkunku

Fernandez

Casedei

With these players alone that’s getting north of £200 million. I’d happily sell all 5 for a keeper, CB and a striker.

I do believe both Cairney and Nkunku would be great as the 10 in our tactic, but because of Palmers brilliance and the silly signing of Felix there doesn't seem to be a way into the team for them

Yeah I thought he'd be great depth.

Hmm surprising, normally you are on the money pretty much all the time.

Happens to the most knowledgeable of us though, I mean Argo hearald the coming of Enzo as a major game changer for us.

I was wrong about Enzo too.

Still think if used in a Toni Kroos esq role he'd be great, but I can't really argue that when the bloke can't even control the ball or offer anything with it at the moment.

It would mean changing our whole system and way of playing, so won't happen, but I wonder if the best way to use Enzo is to remove the need for him to have basically any athletic role.

A similar system to what we had with Maka, Lamps and Essien, with Enzo as Maka, only far more restricted in his movement. You stay in this zone sort of thing, recieve the ball, the other two and defenders make space for you and you play simple balls or, if given time, look for the long range pass.

In theory Lavia and Caicedo use their physicality to hold off the opponent and Enzo has 3 defenders behind him in case he loses the ball, while looking for the direct pass to Palmer, Neto or whoever.

It started to look like a 'good will' signing by the SD to support the new Manager, although we would never know whether Enzo asked to sign KDH. His only meaningful minutes were in the match we were cruising, those are typically reserved for youth or those short of match fitness. We know he's capable of handling Conference league, but you could shove a Lesley or Santos in, and they could do that job too. Maybe we just need the extra HG player, who knows the real reasons

I'd keep Carney and nkunku and spend every penny I got from the others on a decent gk!

I’d happily keep them if there was any chance they’d get minutes.

If we had a second striker I’m not sure Nkunku would be getting any minutes at all. Neither player fits our system at the moment and I don’t see that changing anytime soon.

I don't think Maresca asked for him at all, if he did he'd be involved more. I think the simple thing is you were losing a home grown player because of FFP in Gallagher. And at the time, KDH looked like a very easy deal to do for a replacement home grown player, who is young enough to be able to flog on in a few years without losing a ludicrous amount. It helped us out with FFP, we helped you back with the £5m sweetner for the youth player.

How you finding the prem again? i still think you have the right man to keep you up with Cooper, but read he isnt overly liked.

Been linked with a move to United, Newcastle or Spurs in January.

United also linked to Chilwell and Nkunku.

Might be a condition of letting them sign Nkunku, they have to buy Chilwell too.
