This isn't sustainable for Liverpool. Been watching them a lot this season and they have been incredibly fortunate with some results masking over awful performances. A lot of their experienced heads have been bailing them out. In all honesty a better reflection would them being only a couple points ahead of City.

This reminds me of a Conte esq season from them. They'll pick up the wins but the following season is where the true test begins.

My thoughts exactly. They'll win the league at a canter this season but much like their previous title it will largely be due to a historically poor season from their rivals. FSG might even see a league win as a reason to reduce investment and that might prove fatal as did it for us post 2016/17. It will be incredibly difficult for them to replace Salah, VVD and Alisson in short succession.

I think their style of play has been so predictable for quite some time. Howe never seems to have a plan B. Add to that injuries and poor recruitment, and this is what you get. Good for us though...

Yeah, I think they have peaked under Howe now.  If they wanna take it to the next level - and they obviously do, as they have abundance of money and ambition - then they will have to get a new manager (probably in the summer) and i cannot see them getting anywhere near the top 4 this year.

Yep, good for us. top 3 is - Arsenal, Scousers and Citeh - leaving one spot for us or Spurs or Villa - maybe Brighton. But Those are the contenders at this point imho. I cannot see spurs doing it - but they will get a nice bounce from beating Citeh 4-0.

Howe is their Ranieri/Hughes, they're looking for their Mourinho/Mancini.

Problem is FFP/PSR remains an albatross around their neck. They cannot spend what they need, quickly enough to keep pace. Of course if the clubs vote in line with Newcastle/Man City to remove APT rules, then they will simply prop the club's income up with 'sponsorships' from Saudi companies.

Carragher is such an insufferable wet wipe isn't he?

I couldn't care less if Salah, VVD and Trent stay or go, sure it would be pretty funny to see their squad fall apart in one clean sweep but I've not exactly got a countdown to June on my phone waiting for it to happen. But hearing him have a go at Salah for speaking out on his contract situation is laughable, especially considering his best mate was flashing Chelsea his crown jewels in hope that we would buy him and offer him a taste of silverware.

Without context, sure, Salah starting a week that Liverpool play Madrid and City by saying he's more out the door than in isn't ideal and yes maybe he should have held off for a week.

But if you are Salah, and you have been a pivotal factor in Liverpools most successful period for over 30 years (and still won not a fat lot) and they have let your contract get down within a year then you've every right to speak when you want to. Again, without context, you could argue that maybe Salah is the issue, maybe he's being difficult in negotiation and thats why they are where they are. Sure, that is logical, but a whole lot harder to believe when you see that the 2 other most influential players in this golden, but underachieving, generation of bin dippers are also in the same scenario.

Rather than bashing Salah, Carragher should be shouting from the rooftops that FSG shouldn't have let him get to the point that he can disprupt a game week by doing a post game interview.

what is happening to City - it's off the charts

De Bruyne was back tonight that might help - I'm still hopeful they take points off Liverpool at the weekend, seems a longshot

If anything, they looked much worse when he came on. He looks like he can barely run. Maybe his legs have gone at this level.

Arsenal win one game and their the greatest team in the land again...still wont win anything, a win for Dortmund and Villa tonight and they are back in a play off place, i dont know how the next round works, but theres a good chance that even if they do go through automatically, they could end up getting a big team, as City, Munich, Athletico Madrid, Real Madrid and Psg are struggling and could end up in the play offs

Very strange from Pep. Looks like he's heading towards a nervous breakdown and could do with a year out rather than agreeing a new contract.

Funny how some pundits are now saying PL could be between us and the dippers with City battling for top 4! I still wouldn't write Arsenal off. I love it when they implode but they have players back from injury and IF they did sign a striker in January, I would have them as favourites.

Slot has had an unbelievable start for the dippers, but I think games will catch up with them and they will have a blip. Actually refreshing to see City being so poor and I think PL is well beyond them this season. Let's not even consider Sp*rs and despite some very good performances, long may they remain Sp*rsy!!

As it stands, there is no title race. It's Liverpool's to lose already. As much as I would love us to be in the race, it's too soon and we have way too many issues to be genuine challengers.

Mourinho blamed agendas.

Ferguson blamed the refs.

Wenger sulked.

Klopp blamed the grass or weather.

Guardiola self harms.

The best react in very different ways 😆

I thought this was photoshopped at first.

He looks like the average MMA fighter in the post fight interview, what on earth...

Could not agree more.

Simon Cowell Wow GIF by America's Got Talent

City are struggling 'coz they are missing both Rodri and Kovacic just bad luck.

We have had this in the past with both wide backs out and Kova too.

Football goes in cycles will Pep mellow or crack?
