The referees are there to make decisions, sometimes they are right and sometimes they are wrong. Sometimes you have the feeling from outside that some of the decisions are for the noise. But overall they were ok." Everyone knows Anfield is a hard place to go because of their fans, i hate them BUT they play their part, referees can't handle the pressure unlike Stamford bridge where most sit on their hands and can barely raise a cheer even when we score Anfield has always been a hard place to go. You not only have to beat the team but also quieten the crowd. The TAA tackle on Sancho was a foul anywhere else on the pitch but getting it given in the area in front of the Kop at 0-0 no chance. The penalty given was soft but after the non decision (correctly) on Salah, the referee was under tremendous pressure from the crowd and was always likely to give a decision, Colwill was very naive, his head had gone mentally, he made a poor decision with the challenge. Your correct the difference with Anfield and The Bridge comes down to noise, our crowd these days are quiet and referees get an easier time.

October 21, 20241 yr I actually thought we were nothing short of terrible yesterday to be brutally honest. Sanchez - Atrocious with his feet once again and then at fault for the second by being so conservative. James - Wasn’t bad Tosin - Very nervy and looked outmatched all game Colwill - His worst performance of the season Gusto - Terrible once again, what’s happened to him since last season? Caiceido - Quality once again, really commanding presence Lavia - Going to be like a new season, the bloke oozes class Palmer - Anonymous Madueke - Started bright and then disappeared Sancho - Tactically the wrong game for him, he unlocks defences with passing we needed a winger who was going to run his man Jackson - Took his goal well, an absolute braindead booking and a liability outside of that. Neto looked promising when he came on and probably deserves a run in the team at this point. I’m resigned to Christo leaving, it’s beyond words how he isn’t getting a start. To be honest, I don't think it is the pressure from the supporters at the stadium but the pressure from the media. If he gives us a penalty for that tackle on Sancho, the punditry will go down on to the ref like a ton of bricks. The supporters will boo him, but that ends there and then. The media can make or break a referee. And, we are quiet at Stsamford Bridge, but when the referee starts to make weird choices, we go down on him with boos, are you Taylor in disguise, you don't know what you doing, etc... We do make noise when the ref is giving the opposition everything. But, they can be a bunch of useless cnts like Clattenburg because the media will brush it under the carpet.
October 21, 20241 yr Think the only thing I disagreed with last night was Nkunku at LW. I'd of put Palmer RW, Neto LW, and Jackson + Nkunku centrally. Think the game died once
October 21, 20241 yr Having had a night to let the dust settle, I think its clear that whilst there is still much to be optomistic about moving forward we need to start making an impact in these types of games. Its been far too long now that we've been seen as a bit of a play toy for those competing for the title. Yesterday was certainly a step in the right direction from the perspective of our attitude towards the game. We were still careful, but we looked like we wanted to take the initiative, although I think Liverpool were happy for it to be that way. In the past few years we've competed by sitting in, countering and finding brief moments to impact the game but yesterday was a shift from that. In reality, 2 mistakes have cost us but more worryingly they weren't the only mistakes. Levi lost his composure for a solid 5-10 minutes there around the penalty incidents. He'll learn from that. Sanchez was awful all game and should have done better after Jones first touch for the second goal. He wont learn from that. Lavia is the real deal, as is Caicedo. Enzo is going to have to raise his level. Reece looked solid given the time he's been out, not blameless for the offside trap on the second but I think someone should be following Jones' run and Sanchez had plenty of chance to block the effort after the heavy touch. Think we'll do them at the bridge and I think we beat most teams playing like we did yesterday if we cut out the mistakes.
October 21, 20241 yr Depressing game to be honest. Palmer didn't turn up and defensively we were a shambles. Robert Sanchez is sh*te.

Easy, he can't play inverted full back, it doesn't come naturally to him like does with Cucurella. It's the same as Cucurella playing as a traditional full back.

Do we need two full back's inverting? I know it would be the ideal situation, but when it's evidently clear that we only have 1 that we know for sure can do it, wouldn't it be better to change things up on the other side? It would mean we would need our left wing to help out more defensively because Cucurella will be doing the inverted full back role on his own, but it's either we do that or replace Gusto, which I personally think would be a massive waste. If Cucurella is the one inverting, then the RB is essentially a RCB when Cucu pushes up. James can do that, but I don't think that's particularly Gusto's bag either ... Cucu can play LCB of course and be the full back that stays in the backline, but then again, Gusto as the RB inverting into DM is not a great option ... Personally, I'd prefer it if Maresca played to the strengths of the squad/players rather than try and shoe horn them into a system. That would include finding a way to get your best players into the starting XI ( i.e. play Nkunku 🙂 )
October 21, 20241 yr It's about finding balance. Having Nkunku in the XI makes our midfield weaker unless he outright replaces Jackson at ST or Palmer at CAM. If he replaces Jackson, we will need Neto in for Sancho as Madueke would then be the only player making direct runs. I think Gusto has the technical ability to play in an inverted role. A warm reminder that he just turned 21 this year. Veiga too. They're learning on the job. The inverted midfielder doesn't only become an additional DM but he turns into this CAM hybrid. It's a tough role.
October 21, 20241 yr Having listened to the Monday Night Club on BBC Radio 5 Live this evening, I am now reappraising yesterdays performance and instead of being disappointed and feeling we were quite poor (and atrocious in defence), I now understand that we were up against the best football team and manager in the history of the game. I didn’t realise that Liverpool could actually get 10x better than they were under Klopp (which was super mega uber awesome) with the great Arne Slot (bow and grovel to his superior being).

As do the managers. They kick and scream and make it heard. Us on the other hand?…. After about 20 Anthony Taylor injustices we quietly create an online Petition, that of course was never going to have any effect. We should be creating banners, huge flags at the bridge, websites, inundating social media and if needed, gathering outside the bridge to protest.

Media, press, commentators are really pushing them this season after moving over from Arsenal because of their recent issues and results. I honestly now want man city or anyone else to win the title even more over arsenal or Liverpool (spuds are always on that list too but no need to worry about them this season, lol). 2 hours ago, nonotnowjim said: Have said before, and will say it again, it’s the fans that sway it. Count me in...we need to come together and do our part too for the club. (Unfortunately I can't do the protest stuff outside the bridge (back and knees gone) but I'll do everything else. social media, petitions, etc.)

October 22, 20241 yr Just saw some stats that it takes Liverpool 5.4 fouls to get a yellow card. It takes us 2.9.
