didnt watch - bali time difference is brutal. But I saw the elbows and red card, and can safely say that Nico could never throw an elbow with that much grace or precision.

Yep, he almost got sent off in one of the club world cup games as well. And, he was one of the most booked outfield players in the Premier League last season.

We have been very good at collecting yellow n red card in the last 3 seasons.

The problem with discipline is that they don't really show up in xG data.

Foolish. Hopefully learns from it and we see what he can offer in a couple of weeks.

I'm a fan of Delap and think he will come good for us but at best, that was plain idiotic. In that second half, Wolves were roughing us up and we couldn't deal with it. We needed someone to give them some back but in a CONTROLLED way FFS!

He has to learn from that - really poor.

I didn't say it was, but he was committing unnecessary fouls after already being shown a yellow card. This happened in the quarter-final of the Club World Cup against Palmeiras.

It is what he does in every game. He is masking his limited ability by trying to an "old school" type of forward. At the moment he just looks crap and thick with it.

First one I understand, he plays on the line and gets fired in, makes sure defenders arent getting an easy ride, very much like Costa. Unlike Costa though hes too dumb to then reel it in and play defenders, get them committing fouls on him, wind them up. the second one is dumb as f**k.

Delap is fine but I noticed it a while ago but I gave him benefit of the doubt because I barely watch Delap play.

A little part of me was hoping that after the first yellow, he was going to do a Costa and wind up the defenders, get them booked or something. But no, he wound himself up, got sent off for two stupid moments and has knocked himself down the pecking order.

Making Jackson look good here (bear in mind Nico has not yet received a yellow for Bayern this season, let alone a red)...

If you've barely watched Delap play, how did you come to the conclusion he's fine?

He has not racked up the minutes since he joined due to a suspension at the CWC and his injury, perhaps that's what you meant? In those limited minutes I would not put him in your infamous "fine" category, but in the "lacking quality and a brain" category.

He is big, he can fight CB, he can shoot, he is physical, he is 21. He can be a good plan B st.

Like i said in Maresca thread, if I want to be critical of our signing in term of how they will help us to go to the next level, I will laugh at every single one of them.

But I want to be realistic, our board plan is very different. Be competitive and don't pay too much wages (if you look at it from this context, he is good)

Delap is a lost cause. Hes not good enough, he probably knows it and he gets frustrated. The end result is a booking or a sending off. Rinse and repeat. He will never change. Waste of space. Im sure he could be sold/loaned out in January or the summer. Burnley Leeds or West Ham might suit. He was given a chance to step up from Ipswich and he has failed, big time. This wasnt a moment of madness he does this in almost every game.

@Valerie you need to look at most of our player as project not as they are right now.

Every single one of them has clear issues and it is as expected most of them are very young and hopefully they can improve on them. From this perspective, Delap is fine.

If you want Delap to be the player who will be improvement over Jackson then he is not fine, in fact you won't even look at Delap.
