Alejandro Garnacho

The bar was low, but he is still a disappointment. Can maybe get away with not being great 1v1 if the rest of your game is solid, but his finishing is dreadful, he has no defensive awareness, link up play is okay, crossing is average.

Squad player at best, which is actually ahead of Gittrns who should be playing with the u21s, or out on loan in the championship.

This guy absolutely stinks. I know there was a fella on the match chat saying he did an assist. A 2 yard pass does not make up for losing your man at the back post TWICE !! Both leading to goals is unforgivable and he knew it

My problem is us losing the header for the first goal despite having 3 defenders going for the ball and when we do just about win it for the second goal its gone the wrong direction.

Yes Garnacho should have done better but we all know he's not the greatest defensively. We have already seen at United when he's tasked with defending back post he simply can't do it so I'm questioning the manager who thought it was a great idea to have him there in the first place.

Find it rather bizarre that football has now devolved to the point we’re pulling apart a winger based on his defensive contribution….

He got an assist and over the 90 minutes looked a lot more threatening than any of his replacements did.

Plenty to work on in his game and he’s miles behind CP & Estevao in terms of ability and output but unfortunately we’re in a situation where the alternatives are Gittens or Pedro Neto so Garnacho gets the start everytime there.

His replacement was Estevao who did a huge amount more than the dross he had done, his "assist" was a simple pass to an open player, he then did nothing other than lose the ball in hood situations before and after that.

How anyone can be OK with that display is beyond me.

Estevao started No?

His replacement was Pedro Neto who once again did his best ‘find the deadest possible end and run straight down it head down’ routine resulting once more in sweet f**k all.

I’m by no means saying it was a world class game changing performance by Garnacho but as a winger he did what his role required, assisting.

Last I checked he wasn’t a LB so pulling him for his defensive ability is a bit of a non starter, that’s a tactical/managerial issue not the players.

But with Maresca's system, everyone has to defend... He is also asking full backs to get into attacking areas and be a creative outlet. Im as confused by it as the players appear to be.

Honestly think there's more to come from Garnacho, tbh, not really sure his head was in the move to us. He cuts a frustrated figure imo. He's here and I hope he improves his goal and assist numbers, but in order to play, you have to be able to defend and if you are tasked with picking a player to mark, he has to do better.

Its in sh*tty slumps of form you see who the players are who will roll their sleeves up and fight for the badge. lets hope this lot can

Hi assist was a 2 yard pass. Looked more threatening ? Are you blind lol

The replacement in his position was Estevao when he came off, he went to left wing (for some moronic reason) and was his direct position replacement, Neto went right.

As for hes not a defender so cant be blamed, well hes a player with a job to do at set pieces, the exact same as every single other player. He didn't do that job, either through laziness or stupidity, twice in one game. It wasn't even complicated, defend the back post, watch the player your marking. He didn't, twice.

Warning, warning, your posted has been infected. Our in built, deep dive security function has located an oxymoron within your post. Warning.

You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take. 2 yards or 20, the pass needed making and he made it.

More threatening? Than Gittens or Pedro Neto. Yes 100%

Don’t get me wrong I’m not saying Garnacho is in the Balon D’Or running and we 100% need to upgrade AGAIN in January/Summer but of what we’re stuck with he’s the least sh*t option at this moment.

I look at it this way. Garnacho is the equivalent of being kicked in the balls, Pedro Neto is the equivalent of being kicked in the balls twice and Gittens is the same as being castrated then having your removed phallus inserted into your rectum, dry, sideways.

You’d always choose Garnacho in that scenario.

Its part of his job.

Hazard also did not escape critisism when he made a similar error under Jose which resulted in us getting knocked out by Atletico.

I am not sure there is much improvement that he can make. He has been around for a while even though he is 21, he suddenly won’t develop technical skills or the ability to take on defenders. He is a player that will look brilliant playing for a counter attacking team or in one of the slower leagues where they play a high line.

Well, Lampard improved his passing and goals after the age of 21. I wouldnt right it off but im not expecting miricles.

Zola would work n his finishing and free kicks daily.

I guess its a case of applying himself... We know Maresca doesnt allow palmer to stay behind and work free kicks.

Both Lamps & Zola put in the extra effort long after other players had left the training ground. Unless you do what Pep did with Sterling and just having him getting on the end of the chances, and not involved in building up play, I am not sure a lot can be done with Garnacho. He really has no business starting for a top club, and a well run club will be selling him in the summer.

Yeah, I see a lot of that in him. Was just suggesting players can and do improve. Except Maresca told Palmer not to stay behind and train... anyhow. New manager will have a new view on things and will hopefully be allowed to have a clear out but I dont think we're really a well run club so..

Yeah I'm gonna stop pretending that he's doing alright. He's f**king sh*te. Everything I was concerned about him on the field is happening, he can't dribble, he can't shoot, he can't pass and his bleached blonde hair is back. Atletico are in for a LW, we should try and flog him to them at a cut price and cut our losses.

And our new manager thought he was great today!! Oh dear
