This is his Chelsea record as a left winger :

Numbers aside, he was also the perfect role model to help some of these young wingers develop ... and we stuck him in the bomb squad.

His wages are too high (not his fault), but not in the context of what we are paying (or have paid) collectively to all the other wingers who have failed to replace his output ...

When he was in form at times 2 seasons ago, it is not even close. He was a game changer.

This is the bit i am not sure of. On what basis? Potential for what. I confess looking at his peer group, i just cannot see anything there. If we were intent on giving Man Utd money perhaps we should have stuck with Sancho. Perhaps if it wasn't for his silly salary demands we would have

For me, I have accepted a while ago that this is how the owner want the team being run.

The era of us contending every year or building a title contending team is over unless we hit jackpot. My hope is that if we hit jackpot (more Palmer), we didn't do what spuds did when they hit jackpot with son n Kane.

On the other hand, I was certain Omari Kellyman was going to be a superstar for us.

Weve got a load of wingers/ wide men. A few are decent the rest are average and we have several more coming from Strasbourg. Wingers seem to be very desirable in the transfer market, because of what they can do and the fact that there are so many available. I expect this stockpiling of underachieving wingers to continue and just hope we get a few decent ones along the way.

Stewart and Winstanley see this as a target rich area, if it wasnt for wingers they could be redundant. In comparison theres not too many young quality keepers or even strikers about, hence the chuckle brothers dont bother in these areas.

When Kane turns out to be one of the best st ever and they even get son. You need to win pl or cl if you get that kind of talent but we all know how levy run spuds.

Garnacho and Gittens need more time. One of them may emerge as a talented player. Maybe both of them? Maybe neither of them. It really is too early to say on either player. We wait. They are both Chelsea players and as such I want them to do well - as I support Chelsea.

I also support Chelsea. Giving time is okay but i think that this lad could be better then either of them. Let's hope the strategy of buying and trying to flip mediocre wingers doesn't prevent this lad from getting through and making his mark in the first team.

When you really deep it, Gittens and Garnacho are mid table wingers. Just as Mudryk and Madueke were mid table wingers. Garnacho didn't have one positive metric to back on and Gittens was poor in a league where they don't defend.

It's been already mentioned but a semi retired Sterling is still the best winger at this club and the directors didn't even sign him.

Winger is one of the "easiest" position to play as young player in senior team. It is actually a very good thing for you to create separation. Even if you are not ready physically you can still play.

It is actually fine to sign non experience player. What you want to sign is player who is 1 step away from being ready not 2 or even 5 steps from being ready, the problem from financial pov, it is better to get player who is 2/3 step away.

Not really. Signing player who is 1 step away is standard for top team, we did that, pool, city, pretty much everyone.

What we did is the last few seasons is Brighton strategy.

He was getting doubled up but very good wingers can still force beating a man.
