I spent a couple of minutes (including screen freeze) counting our goalkeepers.

Friday - Chelsea really want Maignan. Enzo Maresca is pushing for the player.

Tuesday - Chelsea trust their GK's. Maresca is not driving this deal.

All from Romano by the way.

A fantasy created by the Romano brand to sucker people in to his BS.

Come on our model is clear and MM is way too old for it.

Why are people on a warpath with all our directors, owners and coaches? They know absolutely nothing and we know everything. They get zero credit on anything they do.

Because everything they do is ridiculous and everyone can see that except you.

I'll credit them for C.Palmer but that was a 1 in a million transfer. No one could have predicted he would have lit the league up like he did. Caicedo has been great but we massively overpaid after spending far too long to wrap the deal up and got dragged into a bidding war with LFC. Same thing happened with Lavia. There is almost nothing to brag about with the directors, owners and coaches.

If you owned Chelsea, would you hire the current sporting directors ?

Remember that we almost fumbled the Caicedo deal before Eghbali stepped in. They were haggling over 10m for several weeks before Liverpool made their bid.

Lavia and Palmer were Joe Sheilds driven signings.

The best thing these directors have to show for admist their wonderful scouting network and decision making......is Jackson.

That is a good use of anyone's time. Did you also put them in an alphabetical order? 😂

If I was working with them or the entire group of people that is connected to let's say hiring one player or looking over scouting and hiring I could give you an answer to that.

In general I am happy we decided to cut the age profile of the squad. How many of them will work out is to be seen.

It is too early to judge them.

So you are 100% that is what happened?

Spot on!

The exact point I made yesterday.

If Caicedo had his head turned by Liverpool he’d be playing for them now and not us.

We’re lucky he had his heart set on playing for us from the get-go or the board would have messed that up big time.

The new season starts on 16th August, what’s the odds that we are still haggling or scratching around for someone on transfer deadline day 1st September??

Good job Palmer worked out, otherwise we'd have been royally fooked because Nkunku has been trash.

Sounds like you do.

What was that explanation? Why is that embarrassing? They were interested in Maignan 8m, not Maignan 25m or something like that. To me that is very very simple. They saw an opportunity to get experienced head in the dressing room but not for 20m+. How have they failed? We read the rumours. They hopefully don't put any effort in that.

Do you understand what contradiction means? Here's a good definition: the statement of a position opposite to one already made. It's not a matter of a fee or how much Chelsea were willing to pay vs how much Milan wanted to get. It's why they were interested in Maignan at all if as they claim, they were happy with gazillion goalkeepers we've already got.

Olise would also be a Chelsea player had the SDs gone throught he proper channels.

Kounde is another one they fumbled, way before Barcelona remortgaged 5 times.

Any successful signings are more by luck than judgement thus far.

Not really bothered by this. It’s probably going to happen just after the CWC (ridiculously enough think there’s a mid tournament transfer window).

The statement about being happy with our current GKs is just PR, we aren’t exactly going to say they’re all sh*te.

We might be happy with our CBs but if say Van Dijk was available for what we believe to be say £10m why wouldn’t we? Liverpool could easily turn around and say they want £40m and the deal is off. Doesn’t exactly mean we’re looking for centre backs either.

Pretty sure every clubs done the whole we’re happy with such a player while looking for a replacement, just in case it fails and they have to going crawling back to them.

The most baffling thing about this story is how can the SDs spend about £80M on 5 keepers and still ask their bosses for more money on yet another keeper.

For all the talk about the club being run by profit seeking shareholders, is there not a single one of them who's asking why is that money being wasted?

How many players have the sporting directors bought, since summer 2023, which was their 1st window, are absolute nailed on starters for us? How many of those players could we sell today for a big profit? You seem to a big fan of these directors.

What if the general talk between board, directors and coaches have been they could do with one or two experienced heads in the dressing room, Maignans name was brought up and they decided to try him if all the boxes are ticked price being one of them. Milan tried to take us to cleaners and we stepped back? No chance of this scenario...?

None of our directors and owners or coaches are perfect, far from it but my word are they pieces of sh*te according to this forum 🤣 🤣 🤣 even stepping away from a relatively small deal is a horrible mistake by them.

Okay. A scenario. Maresca's said he is fine with the keepers we have and trust them. SD's present him with the idea of looking at prospects to strengthen the area. They decide if a good one arrives they go for him. They see Maignan and decide he should be pretty cheaply available. They value him at 8m or so. Milan go greedy and want 30m. We end up offering the double we think of him and pull the plug because Milan doesn't budge. Maresca is more than fine with that. End of story. Where is the drama here?

Ok, there's a contradiction in your logic. If they are looking to strengthen the position and they value Maignan at 8m, how much do they value our current #1? 5m? Do you think that you are strengthening a position with an 8m goalie?

What a great idea! I'll do that when we've bought/sold/loaned/dissolved in lime 3 keepers!

Liverpool & City known for setting a price and sticking to it praised to high heaven, us and Utd never knowing when to stop bidding rightfully lambasted. I'm not going to say I'm a massive fan of the directors but now we aren't paying over the odds they are also useless. Can't win.
