The player requested by Liam Rosenior, his former left back/midfielder.

21 years old Argie. Now we have "opened talks' with Strasbourg for him.

Am sure those will be hard negotiations...

yes, oui, si.

5 foot 5 in player, played 7 games for Brighton, 9 on loan at Sevilla with hi 1 goal involvement can in the Cop Del Rey. Then goes on loan to Strasbourg followed by a permanent transfer. 38 games, almost all of which at CM.

I am not seeing it. What does he now bring to show he could cope with the physicality of the PL which he struggled to demonstrate at Brighton. Possibly his only positive is that he looks more mobile than Fernandez but benching 100m vice captain for a €12m valued replaced looks like fantasy, especially at this place.

We already have Santos, Lavia and Essugo.

Talented player but I'd rather he stay at Strasbourg for a couple more seasons. Our midfield needs some physicality and besides the point, CB and ST are the most urgent issues. Even more urgent is getting rid of all the average players at our disposal.

As per the recent Danny Windsor/Simon Johnson puff piece :

"The club is also aware that it lacks physicality relative to rivals and will look to address this, without sacrificing technical quality, in upcoming windows."

First player we get linked to after that article surfaces : 5'4" 10st if he's lucky Valentin Barco ... LOL

But they say they are looking into addressing it, so maybe they're thinking of feeding Barco some chlorinated chickens and growth hormone fed beef steaks so he can get bigger.

There's also nothing substantial claiming we are actually in for him.

There is now.

So the solution to increase more physicality into the team and more players with immediate impact is signing a 5’7 midfielder who got bullied last time out in the Prem.

Another needle moving signing.

Ok we might have to accept needle moving signings ain’t happening anymore but these pointless ones piss me off.

I bet he’s no better than what we have in the academy and any game time or bench time he does get is just blocking the pathway while paying pointless wages on signings that bring nothing to the table.

I actually thinks he adds a lot to our gameplay if they handle it well. For one; unlike our £105m signing, he will play a deeper role. He massively improves our ball progression, build up play and will carry the ball. Having a player like him who is a ball magnet, demands the ball and wants to get stuck in will reduce the number of touches our defenders take on the ball.

Funny enough he has played a decent amount of first team football, if he comes in he will be our 3rd most experienced midfielder behind Caicedo and Santos. Admittedly the physicality will be a problem, and in a perfect world since we play a mid 2, you would sell one and loan one out of Lavia/Santos/Essugo out, add Barco & a Wharton or Stiller, but Lavia has 4 yrs left, and can’t stay fit. Best scenario will be to add Barco, loan out Essugo to either a Palace if they sell Wharton, or Newcastle if they sell Tonali/Guimaraes. He has lost 1 season of football due to injuries, and most likely will be 4th midfielder if he stays. If he goes away and gets a solid 2500 mins+ away in a PL team, Lavia would then be in last chance saloon to stay fit with a Landon Emenalo/Kiano Dyer stepping up from the U21s as cover. If Lavia can’t stay fit next season, you loan him out in summer 2027 with 3yrs left on his contract and a potential sale in 2028. Essugo comes back in 2027 with a full PL season, and you can then loan out a Landon Emenalo/Kiano Dyer.

The other option is to use him as a backup in the short term to Palmer in the “10” role while he gets used to the pace of the PL like Modric and Bernardo Silva did. This is assuming Enzo is sold, and Palmer is restored as our “10”. Then in summer 2027 you address the physicality issue in midfield by selling 1-2 of Santos, Lavia & Essugo and adding a physical specimen. Knowing our lot, they will sell Cucurella and use him as backup LB.

Ive seen this fella play several times for Strasbourg this year. Hes looked good but whether he can hack it in the Premier League is another story. Im reading that we have snatched him away from Bayern Munich. Well done Blue Co fantastic work, oh incidentally any moron knew he was our player anyway.

I hope this isnt going to play out as per Delap ... a no brainer low risk purchase, which has sadly been a total waste of time for all concerned.

If Chelsea realised you had long dreadlocks they would have tried to sign you ages ago no matter how talented you were.

I think Barco has potential in Italy but our SD is genuinely stupid.

Who looks at our games and think we need a short midfielder?

Exactly, as if we wasn’t already struggling defending set pieces🤦🏻‍♂️, we need a Matic in there.

I wouldn't read too much into Barco's percieved failure at Brighton. He was very much a De Zerbi player whom the new coach decided he didn't like based on 'character'. He did really well for them, but didn't get on with the new coach.

He continued the proud Obi Mikel tradition of being rubbish in the air despite his height

I’ve heard rumours of £40 million!

Let’s keep the tradition of spending money on midfielders/youth players and have no money left over for a left winger or centre back. Then make do with the next Alejandro Tosin come transfer window deadline.

I thought there was going to be a change in tack, prioritizing transfers that will move the needle not more potential?

This outfit is like a fat kid in a candy store grabbing any player that’s available to stop anyone else from getting them first.

Priority is get a ‘top’ goalkeeper, centre back, and left winger. Then and only then should we even look at any other positions.
