Jordan Henderson

Why was that a waste of time? England got to the semi finals. The squad was united. Not a single bit of noise came out of the dressing room throughout the whole tournament. Probably our most scandal free tournament in history.

Henderson isn't being signed to win the game on the pitch.

England got to the semi finals of the tournament they were expected to get to the semi finals in. Literally nothing about England changed in that tournament. Played uninspired football to get out of the groups, beat everybody they were expected to beat, got knocked out the moment they came up against one of the traditional top sides of international football. There wasn't a single thing England achieved in that tournament that couldn't have been achieved without having Jordan Henderson around.

Terrific, a 6 out of 10 midfielder. In his prime.

How about we get some cheerleaders with Pom poms on the sidelines??

If JH can get a game in our midfield next season what have we become people.

That’s the engine room, where a lot of games are won and lost. The scousers got rid 3 yrs ago….. why ain’t he still there if he’s sooo influential?

If you want a coach/cheerleader sign one, if you want an experienced pro get one that can actually influence the game on the pitch.

If JH is going to make players train harder what are the coaches doing?

Let’s stop……. Nobody but nobody wanted JH, now he’s coming let’s stop pretending we’re happy this is Arsenal fan sh*t.

Like I said, if any fan suggested this just a few days ago, they would be laughed at. Anybody that denies that is a liar.

There is a clip circulating of Rogers and Bellingham telling a reporter about the impact Henderson has had on all of them.

Again, this makes much more sense if he will be getting a coaching role the following season.

Players say stuff like this all of the time if they are directly asked a question about a certain player. They are never going to say "yeah, he's made no difference really, I don't know why he is even here"

It's like when a new coach is appointed and a player will say they have been brilliant. I'm pretty sure our players have said that about Potter, Pochettino, Maresca and Alonso now.

er... and Rosenior?

Question is who would you rather play...

Enzo/ Lavia/ henderson. Hendo for me. despite his age, he'll last a full 90 minutes bar an advertising hoarding incident, whereas Enzo is good when enzo wants to be good (aboutfive games for us so far) and he dies as a professional footballer about 55 mins, Lavia cant and wont ever make the 55 minute mark... ever... reckon we'll see a fair bit of him this season.

Guy has won the league, champions league, league cup and fa cup. Who else in our squad has that experience?

Reece James would start for me and when necessary Henderson can step in, say for injuries, last 20 mins to see a game out.

If Reece is in Midfield its a straight swap if hes RB or CB one extra change. Or leave the fella on the bench. Alonso likes Enzo, Lavia is Lavia not Lazarus.

If James can stay injury-free... agree.. but that hasnt happened in any season. Alonso likes Enzo until he fails to track a runner, mark his man at a set piece, look, im pretty hopeful about Alonso as manager, I hope he can get tunes out of players who put in performances like a bagpipe during a stampede.

We've singed two experienced players, I would suggest a third, fingers crossed for the season.

Who knows. You don't. I don't.

I would say that England still got to the Semi Finals. They still turned up against Mexico in essentially an away game, and then had to travel and reset themselves against Norway in the heat, a team that had walked all over a "traditional top side" in international football.

For all we know Jordan Henderson was one of the reasons England were able to do that.

Brazil didn't get to the quarters. Germany didn't get to the quarters. Netherlands didn't get to the quarters. They weren't knocked out by a "traditional top side". Maybe they could have done with a Jordan Henderson.

We shouldn't even be having discussions about who we would rather play. If 36 year old Jordan Henderson is starting ahead of anybody, it's because we have massively failed and may as well give up on top 4 right now.

Who says Alonso likes Enzo……because he said it in a press conference haha.

As Scott Harris said things said or questions answered in press conference are nothing but party line lip service.

And if you’re honest the prospect of JH partnering MC in midfield next season would have triggered a demo a few months ago.

So let’s stop pretending this is anything other than what it is…. Pretty sh*t. I can only hope it’s followed by a real signing.

It’s one step forward 2 back, do t get suckered by a marquee signing in Roger’s. There is no tent without poles. Santos gone JH in? Cuca gone? Palestra in, side ways backward squad building again.

Haha what about what I said makes you think I’ve been drinking??

I’d argue you need to be pissed to want JH anywhere near our first team.

It also seems people are forgetting that the "managers" in the past went along with every single thing the owners did up until they left. Alonso may be a better coach than all of them, but that doesn't mean he won't also be their yes man for now.

Im with you . Im still in shock from the Henderson bombshell . Ive moaned about him for years and now family and friends are ripping the p*ss out me ...Hendo this... and Hendo that. The one good thing is Alonso is having a say and the SDs wings are being clipped.

Exactly and because of NDA’s we never get the real truth until years later….. let people pretend they are happy with this. I’m not and ain’t afraid to say so.

I agree with the back the manager point, I also understand the older pro, standards in training POV.

I remember when we signed Vinnie Jones, didn’t rate him as a player, couldn’t stand him as a man….. there is being hard in a tackle and there’s being filth. However he WAS what we needed at that time to get us up and he played and helped and we did.

I just don’t see how we need JH right now. He offers nothing for me ON THE PITCH. Which is after all where the game is played and won so any experience he brings stays in the dressing room with Alonso.

Him too, but you can understand why I would want to forget him.

I was doing quite well in that regards with my therapy, however now getting disconcerting flashbacks every time I see Levi sporting those damn specs

Henderson joined Liverpool in 2011, two years after Alonso left in 2009.

I'm not a big fan of this signing overall, but happy to be proven wrong.

(This is probably an effective apology for a lot of my posts):

Yes, I know, I was exaggerating for the sake of humour.

Ah yes, irony. Or "iony" as Johnny Caspar called it in the splendiferous "Millers Crossing".

Have never been the biggest fan of Henderson but from what I hear, he is a real team player and a great asset to any club he has been at.

Stuart Pearce was singing his praises this morning and we've no doubt all seen the clips of when Liverpool beat us at Wembley and he took the time to shake every Chelsea players hand as they came down the steps after collecting their medals.

I think he will be great for the squad and he clearly won't be starting that many games.
