I mean you don't even need to look outside the particular player mentioned, matic was a makeweight for luiz with benifica, eto to inter for zlatan, cash plus Gillespie for Andy cole, it certainly happens, it's not the norm but to say they never happen isn't correct.

Yeah Matic who hardly played a game for us and was a reserve player.

Give me an example of a 30 million rated player being swapped in the last 4 or 5 years? It just doesn't happen especially now. The Zlatan one was the rare exception

These stories do the rounds every single window and they never happen.

Another big one came to mind Ashley cole and galas, but yea I get what you're saying,  it can happen if 2 clubs are interested, but it usually doesn't, contracts are complicated, agents involved, too many parties to please, that's why a clean deal is better, this kind of scenario gets more coverage than it has chance of happening but again it can and has happened

Yes just seen the Mahrez speculation on the redcafe tweet forum, he could fit in well with Hazard out at the start of the season.

Mahrez should be a no brainer IF the price is right, which, by all accounts it seems to be at the moment.  He'd fit in well and definitely a player we could use with all the matches next year, particularly CL.

Heribert Bruchhagen claims Chelsea-linked Jann-Fiete Arp will stay at Hamburg
The attacking prodigy made waves for Hamburg’s youth sides during the 2016/17 campaign, bagging 28 goals in 25 appearances. And that form has seen him earn international recognition, picking up caps for Germany at Under-17s level, as well as attracting admiring glances. The Mirror claimed last month that Chelsea have tracked Arp for more than six months and are interested in prising him away from Hamburg this summer. However, it seems the Bundesliga outfit have received assurances that the 17-year-old prospect will be going nowhere when the transfer window reopens. Club chairman Heribert Bruchhagen told Bild: "He will stay with us. His advisor Jurgen Milewski has promised me and sporting director Jens Todt."
Arp is yet to make his senior Hamburg debut, despite his impressive showings. And the Mirror say he was being lined up to join Chelsea’s Under-23s side. Arp is not the only promising forward the Blues have their eye on though. Hoffenheim starlet Filston Mawana is on Chelsea scouts’ radars too.

I'd take Caballero in a nanosecond. He would literally be the ideal backup goalkeeper. Makes the odd mistake (which you're going to get), is really, REALLY good at saving penalties, he's not on the same level as Begović or Čech and therefore shouldn't get too disheartened at being on the bench, and he has plenty of experience. Should be reliable if Courtois is unavailable. We've often been spoiled for choice when it comes to goalkeepers, especially for the past three seasons. This would be almost perfect, especially if Eduardo is not likely to be used. There are plenty of options in the goalkeeping department. I'm excited to see what happens.

want Bonucci, Naingolan and Morata.... NOW!!

I'm not expecting us to sign any of them, i'm not sure i want any of them either. Bonucci would cost an insane amount of money and i don't think we need to be spending that kind of money in that position. Nainggolan i am still unsure about. He's a decent player but i'm not sure he would improve the midfield that much. He would be another player under 6'0 and i think we have enough of them as it is. Morata i am still unconvinced by and not fussed if we don't sign him.

Jann-Fiete Arp isn't coming? Oh well, that's the end of the transfer window for me, might as well just call it a day.

Id rather have Musonda or Traore play there over Mahrez, esp for 40m+.

The Mahrez of the 2015/2016 season was miles ahead of both Musonda and Traore put together. Assuming this season was a blip for him and he can get back to his level of 2015/2016 it would be moronic to pass up on him.

I'm assuming the player from this season shows up

Morata has basically joined United.  The deal is done as is reported everywhere just now, it's just personal terms to be agreed.

I wouldn't be too hasty in thinking the Morata to manure deal is done...still think there's a twist or two to go...

They need a striker, they let ibra go, wanted Lukaku we have him it seems, morata is the obvious choice, we should sell them Diego and take martial, if he didn't like London he would be suicidal in Manchester though, but why are we all going after similar targets, why has no one gone for players like aubameyang? I will tell you this I'm 90 percent sure Utd will have a better window than us whatever happens

Not a rumour, as I am not aware we are interested in anyway, but what are peoples thoughts on Gael Clichy as a back up/rotational LWB with Alonso. 1) Free 2) Home Grown 3) experienced league winner.

....4) sh*te

Just kidding, not a bad shout, but i really think we can do a little better, maybe a younger player who can grow into the role, clichy's lost a lot of the pace that made him a good fullback in his day

Please no. Of all the ex-Arsenal players available, only Fab and Sanchez are acceptable.

No, 6 very average season's with City and there is a reason why they let him go for free.

So a lot of people seem to be unhappy with our transfer window. Hmmm.

Lets forget the FACT that we are on the way of buying 2 players that we have been linked with since March: Lukaku and Bakayoko, both of whom seem to be 100% the manager's buy and first targets (since the long over due nature of the links with the players).

And people are still Crying and/or Moaning? Seriously?

I am quite happy with the way the squad is panning out. Surely we NEED/will get 2 more buys atleast (2nd GK and first team RWB) and I would be quite happy with all of that. Because before the season expected, I wanted a CM to partner Kante (my preference would have been Verrati but Bakayoko seems a great potential), Lukaku was obvious to replace Costa, I expect us to buy Conti soon enough, a back up goal keeper and I hoped that we get a marquee signing like Sanchez to take us to the next level BUT I understand if the club are unable to get that done.

Even with the necessary 4, I will be more than just happy.

For example I'd ask what makes you think lukaku is a conte signing, and I'd suggest the long links mean nothing as he is head coach and has no influence over signings as per his contract, however if anything now he has won the leauge they will likely give him more influence under the terms of a new contract I expect them to sign, I'd also suggest lukaku is nothing like a conte style player and will take a lot of coaches, but have been avoiding comments like this for said reasons
