July 12, 20215 yr Chelsea are ‘most active in recent days’ to try and sign Antoine Griezmann. The Blues see the operation to sign the attacker, most likely on a loan deal, ‘very favourably’. - Sport via @Sport_Witness Would you take Griezmann on loan? Surely Barca won’t let him leave on loan. Dare I say he looks a little washed up as well?

James Rodriguez was a very gifted player too who no one knew anything about before the 2014 World Cup. El Hadji Diouf was a very gifted player before the 2002 World Cup also. There are lots of ifs and buts. But it's the number 1 rule of transfers for a reason. Edited July 12, 20215 yr by Spiller86

Dare I say he looks a little washed up as well? No and I like him as a player. If you wanted him, Euro2016 was the time. He's faded recently and I have questions about his attitude these days. You also couldn't play he and Havertz in the same team.

Agree with not buying players just based on a few games. But for those that have seen Chiesa play for Juve or Fiorentina know that he will be an asset for pretty much every team.

July 13, 20215 yr Looks like Utd are picking up sancho and varane for around £100m. Good value for top players. Can’t help thinking at least one of them would have improved us.
July 14, 20215 yr TRUE ✅ @ChelseaFC has asked @juventusfc for a transfer of @federicochiesa. offered basis for negotiation: 100 mio €. Juventus has declined talks

July 14, 20215 yr Really like Chiesa, always looks dangerous. Not worth €100m though, and I dont even think he can move anyway, or it would be very complicated, as he is in loan at Juventus, with an obligation to buy next summer.
July 15, 20215 yr Griezmann set to return to Atletico in exchange for Saul. Straight swap however Saul will be on lower wages so can save Barcas wage bill quit a bit. Latest rumours around both players.

Would likely mean he would be playing in a more advanced role, which would suit him and potentially unleash the player from the Euro U21s all those years ago where he played as the farthest forward of a midfield 3. Can't see why they would want Griezmann back tbh. Past his best.

He can move, as it was a loan-with-buy-option deal that Serie A clubs love. Juve have already locked in the first-option to buy from Fiorentina at around €40m so they can purchase the rights to the player then on-sell them to Chelsea or whoever. It's similar to how Real Madrid exercised their buy-back on Alvaro Morata from Juve when they saw the huge transfer interest he was generating. The contract also gives Juve priority so it means that any other interested party are effectively buying from Juve, not Fiorentina. Obviously if other clubs are interested they would be absolutely stupid not to take up a free €60m! 27 minutes ago, Spiller86 said: Be a shame to see Saul go to those mugs. I'm not overly sad about missing out on him as I really do believe Mason Mount has the ability to be the same sort of dynamic, ball-carrying player and the injury issues have seriously affected Saul. As for Griezmann, remember that Atletico also signed Morata from us for 58m! Edited July 15, 20215 yr by SydneyChelsea

As for Griezmann, remember that Atletico also signed Morata from us for 58m! That is true and then how much did Juve pay for him afterwards? Crazy how much has been spent on such a mentally weak player. Saul will help Barca big time, but I personally favour a Saul Kante pivot behind a Mount. Gives us multiple options to carry the ball through midfield when teams eventually work out our build up patterns, without the defensive downside of Kovacic. Anyway doesn't look likely but would prefer he stayed at Atleti or at least went to a different club.
