Kevin De Bruyne

Featured Replies

Found this highlight reel of De Bruyne from the weekend. Whilst the stat sheet might only show one assist from a corner, this video shows KDB had a fantastic game. Some of his touches/skills are simply sublime for one so young, and he put in numerous dangerous crosses with both feet. He was playing in central midfield for the most part and it seemed as though the rest of the Bremen team gravitated towards him in possession, the mark of any good central midfielder - notice how often at United the ball goes through Scholes, Xavi at Barca etc. It seems as though he's got the talent to play either in the middle or out wide, so it'll be intriguing to see what position he will make his own.

how the hell did we get this guy so easily? i dont remember any other clubs being interested. united are crying for a player like him in their midfield

his loan cant end too soon in my book

He is doing so well over there he might not want to come back. I do hope Chelsea are keeping a close eye on him. Im sure they are but i just hope he doesnt become another Stoch or Tore.

Thers's no way he's going to stay there. He said in an interwiew that he doesn't like Germany and the mentality of the Bremen fans, and that he is definetly leaving in 2013.

Still think he can be a top quality player for us if we give him the chance.

Not sure yet exactly where he'd fit in. He could play in the pivot alongside either Ramires or Mikel, but then you have to drop one of them and they've both been doing reasonably well so far.

I'd rather not stick him out on the wing (although he did play LW for Genk for a while and certainly can do it), besides we're likely to use Hazard/Mata/Marin on the wing positions.

SO that leaves the CAM position, which Oscar has at the moment.

That's completely forgetting that we have others who will want games, like Lampard, McEachran, Piazon, etc...

I think maybe rotating him with Oscar in that CAM would be the best position for him, as he can then drift wide if he wants to as those forward 3 tend to be quite fluid.

Cech/Courtois

Cole/Bertrand

Terry/Cahill

Luiz/Kalas

Ivan/Azpilicueta/Kane

Mikel/Romeu/Chalobah

Ramires/Lampard/

Mata/Marin

Oscar/De Bruyne/McEachran/Piazon

Hazard/Moses

Torres/Sturridge

A very bright future.

For me the only issues with that are we have too many #10s. Obviously Mata, Hazard & Oscar must stay. But I don't want to lose KDB, Piazon or Josh either. So maybe one or 2 of those younger ones will need to adapt to differrent positions. e.g. Josh could play the pivot if he improvied his defensive work, playing it more like a Pirlo than a Makelele.

Also I still feel a bit worried about our striker position. If Torres stops scoring again, or we get an injury or 2, we're suddenly very light up front. Having said that, with only 1 CF position in our usual formation, you can't keep 3 strikers happy easily.

Only other thing I'd consider is I never rated Moses and didn't want him here, so I'd offload him so that we have an extra space in the attacking dept for a Piazon or a Josh.

I don't see why Ramires would need to be left out for KDB to come in.

We have a squad, and with squads you rotate players.

We could rotate along the lines of:

--------------------------------------Cech

Azzy/Ivan ---------Ivan/Cahill--------------Terry/Luiz---------Cole/Bertrand

-----------------------Mikel/Lampard-----Ramires/KDB

Hazard/Moses-------------------Oscar/McEachran------------------Mata/Marin

--------------------------------------[striker]/Sturridge/Lukaku

The way KDB is playing and the rave reviews he is getting perhaps in hindsight we would have been better keeping him here and sending Marin out on loan?

That's harsh, Marin could be quality...if he ever gets the opportunity to play a game.

All I'm saying is that we've seen practically nothing of Marin and RDM clearly has his doubts. All I;ve got to go on is a bit of pre-season and you tube clips of his time pre CFC.

It's early days and I still have high hopes on Marin but right now, KDB looks a more likely first 11 player.

I'm not disagreeing with the overall point that KDB should be here with Chelsea, I was disappointed when he was loaned out as I didn't feel he was given enough time in pre-season to show what he's about. I think he could be a great alternative to one of Hazard/Mata/Oscar if they were injured or rested. Or even play farther back alongside Mikel or Ramires (alongside Ramires would work better I think).

I think he was that attributes to be a great replacement for Lampard, but with the versatility to play on the wing and interchange with the Magic trio.

He seems to be playing deep in that video though?

Their skills are nothing alike. The similarities between the players and their skill set stop at "they are both playing deep"

It annoys me when I hear of creative players playing deep, Pirlo was a one off as was Makelele in the holding role.

To me the role has evolved and Ramires has the ability to get up and down to attack and protect.

Mikel is getting forward more these days and I am amazed nobody on here is giving him credit for an excellent start to the season!
