Lampard contract

Featured Replies

Depends on how he, Romeu and Oscar perform this season. I would probably still offer an extension though cause he's generally very important to us in the big matches.

Without a doubt. He has done wonders throughout his years at the club and was our top scorer last season, at the age of 33. That says a lot. He is an absolute legend and should be allowed to retire at Chelsea.

I can't wait for the day Lampard becomes Chelsea's all time leading goal scorer. Only 17 goals to go if I'm not mistaken. What a shame it would be if he leaves the club before then.

I think with all the young talent we have acquired lately that they might offer him a year but my guess is that depending how we fare this season he will end up at the Galaxy or somewhere in the MLS, then return to Chelsea as a coach. However, he seems to be in that 'League of Extraordninary Gentlemen' like Giggs and Schoales and will seemingly play on in this league for ever...

Hard ones these types, on one hand I would hate to see Lampard leave but there comes a point where you would prefer them to leave with their reputation kept high rather than see a player become a shadow of their once great self and drift into anonymity. Drogba has done it perfectly, left at pretty much the ideal opportunity.

Deserves a new deal, purely because he turns up on the big days. We don't have enough players like that. His balls for Ramires in both legs against Barca, and his assist in the FA Cup final went a long way towards making sure we won the trophies we did.

I'd like to see him finish here.

Is Frank finished? In my humble opinion it's a resounding NO. But my question is this, what has he done wrong in the AM position that has convinced so many people that he has to drop back into a holding role? I don't have to tell people on here about his phenomenal goalscoring record over the past decade......it's literally second to none.

I think he's still our best option at the tip of a midfield triangle, (4-2-3-1 really isn't that much differet to the 4-5-1 / 4-3-3 formation we've been playing of late) and he can certainly teach the likes of Oscar, Hazard and Mata more than a thing or two.

When did his demise occur meaning he can't play in his best position? I don't remember it......I do remember a certain "not very special" one, trying to make an example of him though. Since then, everyone seems resigned to the fact that he can't play in an advanced role and that he needs to change his game to accomodate his "new" position. Sorry, I just don't buy it.

I want to see him wheeling away from goal celebrating double figures of league goals for the 10th season running and I guarantee he'll achieve that if he's played in his natural role, but for some strange reason, I don't think he'll get the chance. Am I missing something? Is his career as the finest goalscoring midfielder in premiership history at an end?

Yes as long as he is ok with the fact he might now play as much as he would like.

That's how i see it. I also think he deserves a little more respect from the club in the matter, in so much as i would have thought he merited a sit down discussion at the very least !!

A part of me just wish they could hand Frankie a blank piece of paper and tell him to write his own contract. If he wants a private jet or turn Stamford Bridge into the worlds largest swimming pool, so be it.

He's def gotta have a one year extension Franks still got a lot left in his tank.AVB left him out and people were saying he's too old bla bla... People seem to think a player just suddenly loses it one day hitting 33 or 34.It's bs Scholes proved it,Giggs ,Maldini, Nesta,Seedorf ,Pirlo Beckham's still got it, like Frank these are intelligent players ,even playing in a deeper role he manages to time runs into the box . He's a complete team player works hard clean tackler , the more he plays the better he performs. Id be shocked Frank doesn't get 10 15 goals this season.

I was too quick to write him off last season being totally into avb's revolution. Never happened and again Frank was one of our best players end of last season.

Frank is one of the smartest lads around and I think he is the first to say when his playing days are over. I think this will go the same way as it was with Zola. Roman begging him to continue.

I like the open cheque thing.

If he accepts a smaller role, maybe playing 25-30 league games / big matches, I think he should sign a one year rolling contract. We all know Frank is one of the most professional players around, and if the board offer him a new contract every year depending on how well he is playing, I think he will be here until he retires. It would be a massive shame to see him go.

I can see him playing better this season, and probably scoring more goals. I think a part of him wants to see Chelsea win the PL again.

No question in terms of keeping him here - yes. It's whether he can demand the wage he's currently on. If he were to only sign an extension keeping his £150k then I would probably have to say; thanks for the memories Frank.

If he doesn't complain publicly when the manager chooses to not to play him in every game then give him as long as he wants. His intelligence and natural fitness means he could probably play at the top level for a few more years.

It would be foolish to let him go.

So bearing in mind who will be negotiating any contract with Frank we could easily lose him.

I can't see us offering him the wages he will demand with FFP coming into play, same with cole, they will be given new deals but wages will beprobaly half what they are on now
