Most nerve wracking Chelsea game?

Featured Replies

What Chelsea game in the past few years have you been most nervous watching?

Apart from every single one, which game stands out for you where you've been sitting there/standing and realised all of your nails had gone within 90 seconds of the match starting.

My one is definetly the most obvious one out of them all and that was the final in Munich, was so nervous I couldn't watch the second half of extra time and penalties. Felt sick for about 30mins until I found out we won, was the best feeling ever when I found out.

I also suffer from severe headaches the week before we are due to play Manchester United for some reason, maybe it's because I hate them with such a passion it is unreal, the game in the 10/11 season where Luiz/Lampard both scored also stands out for me as well.

What is yours?

Apart from the obvious ones, Id' have to say the 2nd leg against Barca just gone by, because of previous heartbreaks against them, I was just ridiculously nervous the whole week after the 1st leg.

94 and 97 FA cup finals were pretty bad for nerves for me. We were not a top 3 or 4 club, we were a top 11 club (we always used to finish 11th in the 90's) we didn't ever expect to win many games like we do nowadays.

The early-mid 90's were an important period for us, we needed some silverware and investment, and fast, the Premiership was attracting overseas stars due to the Bosmon ruling, those 2 cup finals were the starting point of our comeback to the top.

Take a look at the difference between the XI we put out for the 94 final and 97 final, and you will see the birth of our modern day international club. Now were a true top club (Champions of the whole of Europe) I dont get as nervous, it's a different world at the top, you win more games than you lose, and I always expect us to win every game now.

The league game last year against arsenal! My heart couldn't take seeing them put 5 past us at the bridge. I had a sweat on the minute they equalised because the game was so up and down.

The champions league games last year don't get me wrong I was nervous but it also had a touch of nothing to lose everything to gain about it.

Chelsea Liverpool FA cup in 1997 (4v2 win) watching it in a pub full of Liverpool fans...

Barca Away this past season. And Bayern cup final....Both of these because i didnt think we would win, but had so much to lose.

The obvious choice is of course the CL final. But I think I was just as nervous (perhaps even more so) in the 2nd leg against Barcelona. I didn't watch the game because I felt so sick. But I think not watching it was perhaps worse. Felt like throwing up several times.

I was so nervous when we played Wigan at home at the end of the 2009-2010 season when Anelka scored I went so mental by the time it was about 3-0 I'd relaxed and by the end it was 8 so that one started off nervy but the game I've mostly been nervous throughout it all was the Champions League final this year.

Apart from the obvious ones I was a nervous wreck leading up to the CL Liverpool game after we won 3-1 at Anfield , was so worried we were gonna screw it up (which we nearly did).

Away to Bolton for our first title under Jose, within touching distance of the title. Then frank scored, get in you beauty.

Probably the 1997 and 2012 FA Cup finals but the QF v the Spuds in 2007 stands out for me partly because I couldn't bare the thought of our proud run against that shower of sh*te being ended.

My god I love that 97 team. That was where we really started establishing ourselves at the top and laid the foundations for Roman to come in and take us to the next level. Robbie and Eddie back at the club now as well, both Chelsea through and through

Definately the Barca 2nd leg, was feeling like throwing up and has a killer headache by the end of it. Went through some extreme emotions through that game.

CL Final would be top of my list, didn't sit down for 90 mins and even had to go on a jog at half time to calm my nerves. Was at the top of my stairs listening to the game downstairs when Drogba scored, burst into tears of hapiness!

Others include; any FA Cup Final (love the FA Cup), Barca away 2000 after beating them 3-1 at home I was bricking the 2nd leg and rightly so :( , Moscow 2008, Carling Cup 2008, Napoli/Barca 2012.
