What pissed me off the most was the situation where he played a one two with Mata, allowing Mata to enter the box. Mata played the ball to his right into Cesar, who fired a pass across the goal line with A.Cole nearly missing out. Our Striker who was on the edge of the box at the start of this play had not followed up and was in worse goal scoring position than two of our defenders. These types of instances irritate me the most, screw the rest of his play which is under-par - his movement is criminal. You can expect tons of strikers with better movement to receive far more chances in this team than Torres, who just is flatfooted a lot of the time when we are attacking.

It's slowly clicking with Nando, you can see the pieces manoeuvring into position, little things he's doing or attempting.  Sure, he's not all the way there but let's say he's somewhere between 70 - 80% as it stands.  The difference with Torres is that the 20% between 80% & 100% is what elevates him above any other striker in the league.  Assuming he keeps fit, he'll be firing on all cylinders come the end of January and then it'll be poetry in motion again.  I, for one, cannot wait to see it happen.

Any striker who is only at 80% is way off the pace if playing at the highest level.  I doubt Torres will  ever get anywhere near what you consider his 100% to be as I am guesing you are basing that on the Torres of four/five years ago and that Torres is long gone.

Furthermore he will never elevate himself above every striker in the league, he never was the best when he was firing on all cylinders and certainly won't ever be in this reduced version.

At his height, he easily the best in the league.  I know we'll both see Drogba and Torres in the same light, however in my eyes Nando did things that seemed impossible.

If he gets to 90% of what he was then he'll be the best striker in what is a very poor league.

You don't really believe that do you? Torres is finished as a top player. When Robbie Di Matteo took over from AVB people were saying that Torres was "back" because he had been performing quite well under Robbie at first. The start to this season he wasn't bad either but certainly nothing special. When Torres scored against Norwich at the bridge, he eventually went on to go through yet another goal drought.

Nothing has changed under Benitez. Torres once again looked decent (in terms of amount of goals scored against piss poor sides) under Rafa but failed to hit the back of the net against Norwich and against Everton. He had three excellent chances to convert yesterday against Everton but couldn't capitalize on any of them.

Torres is no longer a player for the big occasions and he knows that. He will continue to score goals against poor sides and his die hard fans will continue to believe that he is "back."

Keep in mind he has not scored a single winning goal for Chelsea in a big game. Not one.

I'm not going to deny that when we first signed Torres I was ecstatic. My expectations of him were incredibly high and I felt at the time that he would be the perfect footballer to continue where Drogba left off. I'm sure many others felt the same but we couldn't have been more wrong.

We can't continue to be patient with Torres. We have given him far too much time and patience to be our main man and the sooner Abramovic realizes that he is finished the better off we'll be as a club.

At his height he might have been, but then again Didier is at last 5cm bigger than him which made it easier for Torres!

Joking aside though I accept the Didier vs Torres debate between Chelsea fans and fans of the Merseyside team below Everton is as pointless as the Lampard vs Gerrard one. Neither side will give an inch and we will always be right!

Im torn over Torres, I want him to start knocking them in like he used to, but how long do we keep hoping for it to happen, a proper goal scorer like RVP, aong with the our midfield fire power would make us unstoppable.

Pace yourself man. If you carry on like this you'll keel over before the clock strikes midnight.

Drogba is the King of Wembley while Torres arrived here to finally at least be part of a Title winning team. Only honor Torres has won outside of Chelsea at a club level is Segunda Division in Spain

I'll give you every inch you want on the latter debate, you can quote Gerrard's heroics, hollywood balls and inspirational performances all you like...Lampard's record is superior, in fact for a midfielder it's nigh on ridiculous the amount of goals he's scored over the past 10 years, nevermind the number of assists.  Sure, my view if possibly warped by the fact that I think Gerrard is a complete c**t who hounded out the manager you've now got in favour of Hodgson and now this fat headed nobhead.  "English is best and don't you forget it, eh?"  He cost himself any chance of a league title by a) Not going to Chelsea when he should have and b) Conspiring with the other "true Scouser" Carragher to oust Rafa from the club.  I'm made up he'll end his career without a league title, and I hope it wrankles with him every day of his life, which it will because the lad is a certifiable fruit loop.

On the Torres/Drogba debate I would say that both of them at their best are unplayable.  Having watched more of Torres than Drogba I'm inclined ot say that Nando just shades in on top form, but in reality Drogba delivered year after year so on that basis is the better striker.

As Rafa says, it's all about the Facchhts...which you just can't argue with!!

Did anyone expect Torres to be anything other than a flop when we signed him?

Not at all it was after the Swansea match and subsequent failure to score in 24 hours worth of football that it dawned on me how utterly out of his depth he was here. I expected Torres to be a good signing not World class but a guy to put the ball in the back of the net on a regular basis.

Let's look at the facts, as Rafa might say.

1. Almost every game, every week, everywhere in the world, someone breaks the deadlock.

2. That someone is usually a striker, reason being strikers are there to score goals.

3. That's their job.

4. Torres in two years at Chelsea has broken the deadlock twice.

5. That's £25m per deadlock broken.

6. Expensive by anybody's standards.

7. When he does break the deadlock, against Arsenal and against Villa, the fangirls are on here unable to contain their excitement.

8. They forget that it is no big deal.

9. They forget that's what strikers do, every week, every game, everywhere in the world.

10. The fangirls are wasteoftime and Redhatter.

11. Yesterday Lampard did what he usually does.

12. He equalised and then he scored the winner.

13. Yikes.

14. The fangirls will tell you Torres' header against Villa was exquisite, proving once and for all he is back to his best.

15. That's right folks, the second deadlock he has broken in two years.

16. It wasn't exquisite.

17. Villa's keeper is sh*t.

18. He was badly positioned.

19. Lampard's header was exquisite.

20. No keeper in the world was saving that.

21. And here's the reason ..

22. The ball flew into the corner of the net, just inside the goalpost, ala Drogba.

23. Now that's what I call a header.

24. Thank you very much.

26. Torres is on 175k a week and isn't going anywhere in a hurry.

27. Lampard is unwanted by the club.

28. Roman and the board obviously don't like seeing those deadlocks broken.

29. I'm desperately trying to reach number thirty.

30. Phew. I just made it.

27. Lampard is unwanted by the club.

Proof? I mean like solid facts, not speculation because Lampard hasn't signed a new contract.

I think we could warm to this one. At least to tepid.

Holy f**k, that's appalling.

Wouldn't be surprised if we've broken the deadlock more times via an own goal.

Well to be fair, I suppose he did.

So that's actually a staggering 3 deadlocks broken by the mighty El Nino, I think you owe the man an apology Davey Baby.
