Makes me laugh when people try to compare Kaka and Torres, they are nowhere near as close. If Torres put in half of the shift Kaka has he wouldn't be the complete waste he currently is. Kaka's performances last season (Just as good as Ozil, if not better depending on who you ask) which was crucial in Madrid winning the league more than made up for his slow start.

You can easily see why our perception of Torres is completely twisted reading these "he was only good for 15mins so that doesn't mean he was any good" comments. IF YOU SCORE YOU ONLY NEED TO BE GOOD FOR 10 SECONDS FOR CRYING OUT LOUD. Drogba used to wonder around for 88 mins and then score the winner. We didn't give him a bad review if he ended up winning the game.

Torres scored a good winner and the had the balls to take the penalty and still it wasn't enough for some people.

He's never going to be who we want him to be and part of is because we expect too much of him. Me too. Not blaming anyone here. The pricetag did it.

Kaka used to be brilliant and he still is good but the buy was a huge huge mistake. He is depleted with injuries. At least Torres is playing all the time and representing the club and what I've seen he's tried his best and most of the time too much.

and again, the difference being drogba did that consistently. i wouldnt be surprised if this was the only time this season torres has grabbed a winner

use your brain.

wait

isnt it more of a detriment to rely on and continously play a sh*t footballer than it is to bench him?

But Evissy, Drogba made a habit of it. Drogba won us game after game, trophy after trophy.

Please lets, not compare Drogba and Torres. It borders on insulting!

There were some comments made that Torres was 'brilliant' last night when he clearly wasnt and simply did his job, albeit for about 20 mins. Thats why i highlighted that our expectations are set so pathetically low that when he does do alright a description of his performance is often warped. Last night was a perfect example of that.

He did? Last season he was only showing up in big games. He was completely anonymous in most games early season.

The other difference is Drogba didn't try hard at times whereas Torres works his socks off but can't help but fail.

I'm not comparing Drogba to Torres as who is the better player. No competition there but you should get my point. You tend to forget all the anonymous games over the years Drogba gave us after all the heroics he did.

I just hate the all bashing way you talk about him. That is not intelligent for a person telling other people to use their brain.

I don't understand really, the fact that Kaka has had more injuries than Torres probably has had in his entire career and still puts in superb performances for Madrid just goes to show how poor Torres really is in comparison. I would rather have Kaka for only half a season than Torres for a full season. I don't doubt that Torres tries his best, the problem is his best isn't good enough.

I don't think it's a mistake anymore, over the past 2 seasons Kaka has shown he's still a very good player and has slowly but surely finally started to match his fee.

Torres scored a good winner and the had the balls to take the penalty looked almost as useful as Lukaku for a brief fifteen minute spell at home to Steaua Bucharest and still it wasn't enough for some people.

Fixed that for you mate.

Edit: Rather than people's view of Torres being "warped", I think they're just offering a bit of perspective.

Are you on a wind-up? Sure, Drogba had bad spells, like all players, and noticeably faded in his latter years as he became less able to perform week-in week-out, but this is Torres we're talking about, and any comparison with Drogba is so far wide of the mark it's not even funny. They couldn't be further apart in terms of their contribution to Chelsea.

Edit: Seriously mate, are you doing all this for a bet?

Edited by Davey Baby

Please nobody on here resort to calling him C - Face.

He did alright but choked again on the pen, dont believe it will spur him on

to perform in the home stretch.

Torres = one of, if not THE worst buy in Premiership history.

vs

Drogs = one of the very best buys in Premiership history.

Completely different ends of the spectrum ... Drogs forever true CFC legend / Torres forever CFC's perhaps 'biggest ever' transfer mistake?

Accept Premiership defences "finally" got to grip with Drogs during his latter years (European defences never did)!

However, by this time Drogs had already gone down in Chelsea folklore and continued to produce for those big European nights!

He shouldn't be in the squad in a competition where we have no other senior strikers eligable? You propose we should take him out the squad for the rest of the competition?

You seem to think we have a senior striker for the Europa League, I believe we had two strikers capable of playing in the Europa League, first was sold to Liverpool; second was not recalled from his loan at West Brom. While we have kept a player who will most likely cost us the Europa League. It's not his fault the board are a bunch of retards, who have taken 2 years to even question their judgment of build a team around the weakest member of the squad. We should have never been in a position where we have one senior striker for a competition. The player in question, since signing on at Chelsea has shown the mental fortitude of a 5 year old girl.

I'm 100% certain that with an inform striker for this season, not only would RdM not been sacked but we would still be challenging for either the Title or the CL - instead we are supposed to pat Torres on the back of the back for scoring his first important goal of 2013 in the middle of March against the European giants Steaua(no offense to Steaua or Sparta Prague, they are ok teams but at about Championship level, which is also the level that Torres should aspire to play with his current capabilities).

I thought the servers would have melted after Torres scored the winning goal last night, but it would appear that they are up and running!

Lets clarify the situation.

Torres scored, we won, we're through to the next round................... I think thats all that matters!

You keep doing that. Are you seriously, seriously comparing what Torres has done for us to Drogba?

If you are then, well....................... I don't know what to say.

Get a grip you muppet! Only showing up in big games. Jesus H Christ, what a twonk. THAT'S WHAT BIG PLAYERS DO!!!!!!!! THAT'S WHAT WINS TROPHIES!!!!

The day Torres has a game like Drogba did last season against Napoli, come back and bore us all a bit more.

F*ck me I don't think I have been so wound up as I have been reading your posts on Torres today. What planet are you on talking about Drogba like that? You deserve to have Torres up front for the next ten years.

Edited by just

I'm happy for Torres and I'm happy that we're through. He's going at the end of the season, let's just hope he can carry on playing like he did for the last half hour. We know he's not Drogba, we know he's been bad for the vast majority of the time we've had him but there's nothing we can do right now so let's just hope we can salvage something from this train wreck of a season.
