I see you left out the relevant part again.

Seriously, if you're not employed by the Sun, give them a call on Tuesday with your skill of presenting only what you want, they'll snap you up.

The only relevant part is that you got a quote that entirely refuted your argument therefore started trying to twist the argument.

That job on the Daily Star awaits.

I have noticed though that when Ba starts he mostly gets subbed by Torres with about half an hour left, but when Torres starts he tends to just get the whole game. Torres rarely comes off anymore if he starts. He's definitely had more playing time than Ba since January, even if u exclude the Europa League.

That might be to do with his £50,000,000 price tag, his consistent failure to deliver on any fronts and his blatant preferential treatment by the board and current interim manager.

You may say that he's being over-analysed but I cannot help fell that there's a few contributing factors towards that.

I understand why he might be but there was about 3 pages discussing whether a shot that hit the post was unlucky or not. Just makes me laugh.

I agree on that particular issue.

He's still playing his part in a winning team.

Watched Sturridge yesterday and while he was up to his old tricks (Blasting the ball over the net, one footed & selfish) his new team gained another big point at home, again.

Think I'll stick with Torres for now.

I think if Torres had only cost around 15-20 million then he wouldn't still be here. Either that or there wouldn't be as much attention on him. The reason Liverpool asked for that much was because they wanted to keep Torres and honestly didn't think we'd pay it.

Let's dispel that myth about no-one saying Torres should start?

The denial continues.

And in the biggest game of the season as well. Amazing.

I have to be honest and say this is the first time I have seen this, i.e lots of people calling for Torres.

I'd say it's based on Ba having a quieter game yesterday, however as I put in the Spuds thread I don't think he had a bad game, just did a lot of the gritty work.

I do expect Torres to start on Wednesday, but purely on rotation, do I agree with a rotation policy no, but their you have it.

Fair play SP.

Ba didn't have the greatest game yesterday but I think he suffered big time by not having Hazard there pulling the strings behind him. Our passing was piss poor all over the pitch yesterday and especially from the midfield into the final third. Despite the lack of penetration and service Ba, as you say, did the dirty work. Held the ball up well as he usually does and closed down the centre-halves but the few half chances that came his way he fluffed badly.

United were in 2nd gear for most of the game and were there for the taking. I felt Torres coming on was the right choice for the circumstances. However, I just knew FSW wouldn't have the balls to change the actual formation and try two up front against them.

Torres this season has turned into our own Massimo Maccarone - a true Europa League/UEFA Cup warrior puts his goals in the competition into perspective

Ba had a bad game yesterday, I really think he is better when he has a striking partner so I wouldnt mind seeing him with Torres on.

Torres also likes to drift wide and so forth so it actually works out, thought we got much better going forward when he came on.

Oscar done my head in yesterday but glad that he stayed on in the end to give that pass to Mata!

Torres will start vs Spurs for sure but I hope somehow both will.

Fair play SP.

Good post just. Ba didn't have his best game but it's irrelevant in my view. He understands what's required of him far more than Torres. Torres just doesn't play the position correctly in my view which effectively means we're playing with 10 men half the time. It's no coincidence Torres hasn't scored for so long in the Prem nor that he can't score against top sides where it's a bit more of an even contest. Ba plays up top, he occupies the centre-backs, he's always looking to score and he occupies the right positions. He's not the greatest by any means but he's a focal point and when you're playing with 1 up top that's what you need.

I also find it interesting that Ba invariably gets subbed when he plays but Torres doesn't, as others have noted. Inexplicably, Torres got the full 97 minutes at Anfield, despite having played midweek. He was shocking and not even his biggest apologists would deny it. Ba remained on the bench. There is clear favouritism going on in my view and always has been. This is a guy who has proved beyond any doubt he is a decent Championship striker but way out of his depth in the Prem. Some say he has 20 goals. He has and he deserves credit for that because 20 goals is 20 goals. However, as you've said, look closer and it's 7 in the Prem, and this is playing alongside players who are generally far superior than their opponents. He's playing for a top 3 side not a bottom 3 side. However look closer still at those 7 goals and an even worse picture emerges. 1 was a pen and only 1 was against a top half side. It's truly shocking and yet, once again, for some bizarre reason, people are calling for him to start against Tottenham in what is effectively a CL play-off.

Seriously, the mind boggles.

No doubt someone will tell me I'm making it up but thankfully you've provided the evidence.

I wouldn't be surprised if you're accused of doctoring it.

I don't know, but everytime Ba starts i have the feeling he is tired around the 60 minute mark. Maybe he has fitness issues.
