I must admit I have lost patience with him this season and had given up hope of him ever coming good...his last two games have shown positive signs, but I want to see him kae a difference in a big game against top opposition...

what annoys me about him is that when times get tough he seems to sulk and hide and I'm sure his goal droughts wouldn't last as long if he had a stronger mentality

After two fricking years and a mere handful of genuinely good games against decent sides it's way too late for four goals in two games against crap opposition to indicate anything other than yet another false dawn. He won't make a difference in big games against top defenders because mentally he is as weak as piss water. Drogba had more mental strength, character and self-belief in his little finger than Torres has in his whole body.

Rarely, if ever, have any club pandered so much to one player. Perhaps I am the only one who laughed yesterday when he suddenly decided he was going to take that penalty. Where did that come from? Why couldn't he do that when Carlo was in charge? AVB was there? RDM was boss? Has it really taken a cuddle and some man-love from a fat little fellow Spaniard with a sad goatee to suddenly make our Nando grow a pair? I bet my house that he wouldn't have been so keen to grab that ball if it was a last minute penno against Titty or Man U.

For me the never-ending Torres charade is part of the cancer that is infecting our club at the moment. The sooner him and the FSW are gone the better IMO.

Since we bash him on days he wasn't even playing, only fair to give him some credits when he played well. Let's hope he keeps the good runs going next week. Like him or not, we still need him at least until Janunary.

He did want to take a penalty in the CL Final.

Someone asked earlier (Bluehatter I think) why I think his time is up with us, the simple answer  suppose can be found in the 131 pages of this thread and the 150 odd pages in the old Torres thread!

It has become all about Torres and not about Chelsea!

I actually think for his sakes more than ours he needs to move on.

Oh, you mean this;

Of course he says he wanted to take a penalty.............................. but he didn't.

Well all you can do is put yourself forward, which I believe he did, if the Manager doesn't pick you then you can't do much more than that.

there is a video of rdm announcing the penalty takers and torres clearly being upset that hes not on the list. so there goes your argument that hed never step up when it mattered, but im sure youll still find a way to hold that against him

It's funny how some seem to think they know what Torres thinks lol

Some how I don't think nando reads this forum mate. As long as he still has the support at the bridge ( which he does) then it is fine.

Oh right so he didn't? Cheers for clearing that up, I must say I didn't know that you were in earshot of the conversation that RDM and Torres had before the penalty shoot-out in the Champions League final....

I was...I heard Torres ask to take a penalty, RDM looked at him burst out laughing and said 'sit back down fernando, we want to win this shoot out'

If he did read some of the abuse he got on this forum he'd have been gone long ago!

I rate him, always have, yes he's had bad spells but so have lots of players!

For whatever reason its not really worked out for him here, and I think he will move on at the end of the season.

Na, I don't see that happening as Di Matteo is not an idiot and he also has class, sadly this can't be said for many that post on this forum, not pointing any fingers obviously....

I was clearly joking the point I'm getting across is if there was one player we wouldn't have trusted with a penalty last season it was Torres. I remember mata coming out and saying he offered the penalty against Birmingham Torres and he turned it down so another reason for RDM to not trust him

I am well aware you were joking, it just wasn't very funny.

I agree in the sense that RDM was right not to select him for a penalty in Munich, however the original point made by Just was that Torres wouldn't have been willing to take a penalty in a big game, which is clearly rubbish as he offered to take one in the biggest game in Chelseas history.

Call me insane but hey, here's what I think. RDM considered the fact that the game might go to penalties and actually prepared his list of penalty takers in advance of the game, (I know, mad isn't it?). I believe all the chosen penalty takers knew who they were going to be beforehand including Lindsay L. And as any good manager would in that moment, RDM was checking who, of his chosen penalty takers, was still prepared to take them.

@ RFC, I like the way some people actually think they know what was said out there and believe that Robbie wouldn't have made any advance planning for that situation !!!

Don't forget, Torres has had other chances to take a spot-kick and hasn't fancied it:

Why do you care so much about him taking a penalty? Is he banned from doing so because he hasn't taken one previously?

I agree with all of that however wasn't your original point that you thought Torres would have been unwilling to take a penalty in a major game against major opposition? Regardless of what may or may not have been agreed before hand I would say the fact that Torres quite clearly wanted to take one in the Chanpions League final puts that theory to bed.

I can’t believe people are using Torres taking a penalty against him.  They wanted him to step up now he has and still he get criticised.

Why couldn't he do that when Carlo was in charge? AVB was there?

Because Lampard was the penalty taker and he wouldn't let Drogba take a penalty never mind Torres

Fair enough. My thoughts are that the preferred penalty takers had already been selected by RDM before the game kicked-off. Torres wasn't on that list and he knew it already.

Seen it before mate. And that proves what exactly? I love the look of anger in RDM's face when he has to stop what he's doing and grab the whiny tosser's arm. Just what was needed at that moment. Doubt that the Fat Waiter has ever been that tough with him. What's that old saying, "there is no I in team"? Robbie should have got Drogba to knock the girly f**ker out before he went and took his penalty.
