Well done, your prize is in the post!

Just so you know I'm not digging you out personally, was just waiting for the excuse for Torres scoring!

Whats your problem, he is surely praising him but giving some realism in his post. No need for them sort of sarcastic comments mate.

Seems a few on here get a little too touchy with regards to Nando.

I say I'm not digging him out, my point was that their will always be an excuse for why Torres has played well, can't we just be pleased that he did play well, whay always a caveat?

I think I'm on record as saying that I think its time he moved on, for the sake of himself as well as Chelsea! For some people he can have 10 great games & then 1 bad and people are on his case!

Why is it time he moved on? If he can keep this form up it is what everyone at the club has been waiting for. Would seem a bit stupid to stick with him through the bad times and then when he hits a good patch we get rid.

He isn't consistent enough, too old to really build a team around now as well. I don't think a player has been given as much patience as Torres has but if we want to win the league we need a 30 goal a season striker

I'd love to know what this run of 10 "great games" he's had supposedly is.

I meant if we an get the consistency out of him. By 30 goals a season do you mean prem or all games?

I get what you are saying but it only takes some poor results for his head to go again. By 30 goals a season I mean capable of scoring over 30 league goals not neccerssarily scoring that many though. Drogba only did it once but he always had the capability to do it and I don't see it in torres

Like every striker they are going to go through rough patches over a season but it is all about minimizing them and going big when on form. Torres does seem to go on extended rough patches but hopefully he can stop that and become more consistent. He is a massive confidence player and only way to gain confidence is by hitting the net.

I must admit I have lost patience with him this season and had given up hope of him ever coming good...his last two games have shown positive signs, but I want to see him kae a difference in a big game against top opposition...

what annoys me about him is that when times get tough he seems to sulk and hide and I'm sure his goal droughts wouldn't last as long if he had a stronger mentality

True but we have given him 6 months as the main man and he hasn't really delivered the goods. There are 2 main concerns for me, 1) another blip is only around the corner and 2) he picks up an injury and we get left in the position Liverpool were in. I think we need to go out and buy another striker and I can see that being curtains as we know Torres does like that kind of pressure. If his head goes again and the other striker comes in and starts scoring as we know any half decent striker would in that team then it's over.

The next problem i foresee is that RA will bring in an offense minded manager in, where does that leave Torres? Torres seems to be thriving off the counter attacking football so where does that leave him in the future?

Agreed that we need a new striker because sturridge is to injury prone this season. With all the games we are going to have in new year we need to have 2 top strikers we can rotate or 1 taking the load of the other. I'm sure torres only struggled with drogba around because drogba was such big player for us and the players and fans loved him. I'm sure if someone like falcao came in then he wouldn't feel as understated because falcao doesn't have a reputation in the prem.

Not to sure about the last question. I think the big difference in torres suddenly scoring is that the likes of moses and mata are prepared to run in behind him and take 1 centre back out of the game. Motd showed this was the case many times time today and  it was almost like playing with a 2nd striker.

Really good performance today and off the back of an improved performance in the week. Long may it continue.

Question; if Torres puts in todays performance for the rest of the season, RA brings in his next victim of a manager for next year and the real Torres returns (the sh*t one), how many more managers do we get through, because I'd rather see the back of fsw and Torres than risk having the fsw around for any longer than we currently expect.

The real torres was the one you saw today mate :)

I don't believe robbie was sacked due to torres' form or because he was dropped.

that isn't why carlo was sacked and despite avb rotating the strikers it took a long time for him to be sacked too.

to me it looks like roman / the board were happy to let go of a manager they didn't really want the moment (they felt) it would be publicly acceptable.

also I think it is too late for fernando. he hasn't demonstrated reliability and therefore he will be replaced as the first choice in summer (if not sooner).

We still need a new striker no matter what.

I don't think we will get falcao but if he came here he would eat Torres alive. He may not have been clinical of late, something I put down to all the links with us, however, if he was here I'm sure he would have taken many oppurtunities that Torres hasn't and would be pushing for golden boot. This is why I think if we sign another striker Torres will become the second striker because why would you bench a striker that is scoring goals? I know Torres has scored in consecutive games now but the minute he isn't scoring and someone comes in and starts scoring then his head will go again. I have given him enough time and support but I know a lost cause when i see one

Yeah perhaps, its not as clear cut to me as the Torres issue here. I'm having this discussion (more of an argument) on another thread, but I honestly think the clubs management thought Rafa + Torres = dream ticket. Rather than seeing what is abundantly clear to all, which is Torres is never going to recapture his Liverpool form.

I agree that it's unlikely Torres will reach his peak form like he did with Liverppool. However,  I believe he will show marked improvement for the following reasons:-

1. In recent performances he has looked sharper, is playing with passion and is hungry for goals.

2. His confidence has returned as evidenced by the penalty shot that found the back of the net.

3. He is getting much better service from the midfield trio of Mata, Hazard and Moses.

I am looking forward to a much improved Fernando Torres.

I'm encouraged to see him scoring tap-ins. He received a lot of criticism for rarely getting into good goalscoring positions (or wanting to take them), and it was often used as evidence that he'd lost his goalscoring touch. If he can bring that part of his game back then he could develop into a handy squad member, but his lack of consistency has prevented him becoming more than that.

I thought he was good today; Sunderland were particularly bad but he looked dangerous and the penalty was excellent. Involved in all three goals, long may it continue.

Good performance vs Sunderland. Well taken first goal and unlucky not to get a hat-trick with that terrific effort which hit the bar. Literally wrenching the ball from Luiz and then calmly tucking away the penalty has to be a good sign too, showing confidence and nerve. But Torres has had more false dawns than Spurs, so I'm not getting carried away just yet. Still, that's two good games in a row. Now let's see if he can get to three.

No they wouldn't be on his case at all. The thing is he has never gone on any kind of run like that, 1 or 2 good games then it fades away again.

I was delighted with the way Torres played today. It was almost a flawless performance today. You knew he had confidence in his ability when he insisted he would take the penalty instead of Luiz. That goes to show that he wants to succeed. I think he needs to keep it up now, but the signs look excellent.

4 goals in 2 games! I can't complain about that

I hope he can continue getting goals, but, perhaps most importantly, that if he fails to score in a game, he won't go back to a slump.

I'd rather see him score goals on a regular basis, than score four in two games, then go without goals for 4-5 games.
