Torres says he needs more time and is trying to shift part of the blame onto Oscar / Hazard.

Maybe he could look at his woeful first touch... or his constant running into opposition with the ball, or lack of hunger, or ability to take on a shot rather than the odd tap in. He wants to hang on to his mega money, he will never get the same wages again!

The past couple of games he has looked sharper no doubt about it.....I hope he will start firing again but I am not getting any hopes up for a big run.

I still think we need to offload him at the first opportunity and do a serious trade up. We need a few options at least.

Maybe he is sharing the same excuse book as fsw? Can't really blame either of them 2 hazard set him up the other night and Oscar played that amazing ball over the top which Torres just hit at the keeper. Doesn't excuse all his failed attempts to knock the ball and dive either

This thread has certainly got the most apt name because it is like Groundhog day reading it!

Torres doesn't score for a couple of games = Torres is sh*t and should never pull on the shirt again!

Torres scores= Torres could be back, but he needs to score a hatrick in the next 10 games for me to be convinced!

It is what it is folks, he's not the player Roman thought he was buying, but he is our player so lets get behind him and hope he can chip in with some goals and assits!

Hilarious, someone posts a stat about how torres has more goals than a lot of strikers and instantly people just try to rip it apart and try to show how its total meaningless. Choose your battles, accept small victories.

Why - because there isn't a striker in Europe who has played as many minutes as Torres. While 33% of his "fantastic" tally is against Nords and Wolves. There are 19 players who have outscored him in the league, and 31 players who have higher or equal tally to him. Out of those players you won't find a single one who has played as much as Torres, virtually everyone has a better goal per minute average other than Adebayor who has played 1/4 of the time Torres has and Balotelli who is 4th choice at City.

City has 4 strikers performing better against our one. Danny being injured we have one striker available who isn't performing. Well, performing but not scoring enough. If we don't buy quality upfront in January we can kiss goodbye to CL for next season.

Having said that City's been awful this term. Their CL run was embarassing to say the least. Tough group but their sheer quality should have taken them trough with series of 1-0 wins. We have done it over and over again in the past seasons with a strong squad like theirs is.

He has what? 21 goals in total for Chelsea I think.

Of those:

2 against Leciester in the league cup in a big win

2 against a poor Genk side in the CL in a big win

2 against a very poor Nordjsland side in the CL in a big win

3 against a poor QPR side in a big win

1 against a poor Wolves side in the league cup in a big win

That's half of them already. In "big" games against "big" teams he has got:

1 against Barcelona - good goal, fair play

1 against Arsenal

1 against Man utd in that 3-1 defeat that also included the open goal miss

That's about it as far as I can recall, meaning going into any game against a half decent side, we are having to rely on midfielders and defenders to get our goals, because our striker cannot.

You guys will never be happy. I'm just saying have a chuckle that our terrible striker has more goals than these world beaters without ruining it for yourself by digging down into endless stats and reasoning about why we should still be miserable. Its a tongue in cheek stat, No one is going to use the stat to prove anything, have a chuckle then move on. Let people have one nice thing.

What about the belter against Newcastle?

Find it hilarious how people who constantly mock torres and take the piss out of him on here are the same ones to claim "they have always supported" him. Support doesn't mean hoping someone scores, it means backing them and not constantly coming on here the moment a game has finished to tell everyone how sh*t he was and he didn't score again.

Apr 23 2011 v West Ham: Second goal in easy 3-0 home win.

Sep 18 v Manchester United: Consolation strike in 3-1 defeat at Old Trafford.

Sep 24 v Swansea: Opening goal in 4-1 win, but awarded red card for two-footed tackle on Mark Gower.

Oct 19 v Genk: Netted second and third goals in 5-0 mauling of the Belgian side.

Mar 18 2012 v Leicester: Third and fourth goals in 5-2 FA Cup win to end his 24-game scoreless run.

Mar 31 v Aston Villa: Last-minute final goal in 4-2 win at Villa Park. First Premier League goal in 20 games.

Apr 24 v Barcelona: Injury-time goal to ensure we were not worried about our progress to Champions League final

Apr 29 v QPR: Hat-trick in 6-1 rout although Chelsea were two ahead before his first.

Aug 22 v Reading: Go-ahead third goal in 4-2 victory over newly-promoted side.

Aug 25 v Newcastle: Netted second goal in a 2-0 home win.

Sep 25 v Wolves: Fifth goal of 6-0 Capital One Cup canter at Stamford Bridge.

Sep 29 v Arsenal: Opening goal at Emirates as Blues win London derby 2-1.

Oct 6 v Norwich: Early equaliser as Blues go on to win 4-1 at home.

Nov 7 v Shakhtar Donetsk: Blocks keeper’s clearance back into net for opening goal of match won by Victor Moses in stoppage time.

Dec 5 v Nordsjaelland: Scored two goals one of which put us in front in a 6-1 victory over the Nords.

Sturridge who apparently is not good enough had 9 goals last season which were either opening goals; equalizers; or put us in front

I find it hilarious how people that don't think Sturridge is good enough for CFC are the same ones that keep defending Torres.

I understand the negativity on Torres because he has failed to deliver on so many occasions so far BUT he is in his finest from since he joined us so that in itself should be encouraging.

People go on about only scoring against weaker sides yet he has scored against Arsenal, United, Barca, Newcastle, Shaktar ect so that's not really a fair argument.

What is the problem is consistancy and will he take on the form of the European game to the weekend? So many times he has failed to do this but who knows.

I'm just chuffed he scored a couple of goals and maybe it can kick him on because we have no one else at the minute sadly.

I really hope if we get Falcao or someone he hits the ground running because these threads are cringeworthy.

What ever you say or what the reasoning is for positive or negative he hasn't scored enough. End of story.

But I don't blame Torres himself. He's worked his arse off. He's tried building the game, being a target, running behind the line, defending corners, running the wing and yet he can't shoot the ball in the net. He's done everything but score goals. He's scored some but half of what he is capable of.

As said before the whole deal was rotten from the start. He just isn't perfect fit for Chelsea. Even if we bought him for £10mill you can say he hasn't been a success.

I really hope if we get Falcao or someone he hits the ground running because these threads are cringeworthy.

1 goal in his last five games, he makes Torres look prolific.  One season wonder if you ask me.

What about the belter against Newcastle?

I wouldn't class that as a big game or a big team, it would fall into the category of the handful he's got in other games.

If you dont like them then why read them? It doesnt make sense to me why people would read stuff and then moan about reading it.

Thats like saying why don't you join a forum and then never read the posts!

Exactly!  You read in the hope of finding a fresh slant, only to find it;'s the same stuff that is in the other threads.

Consign it to the Groundhog thread, please, Mr Merger Man!  :threadsucks:   (never used this one before!)

Not really, you can pretty much bet if a thread is made about Torres its going to be one bashing him in some way. If you are a blind believer and dont want to read it then dont. There of plenty more threads to read.

Not at all I could start a thread right now telling everyone how wonderful he is!

Instead some Northern twat comes on here and gives us some stats that mean nothing and the likes of you get your dick in your hand about it!

rant over!
