Maybe I will be wrong but I still feel there is not enough evidence to expect that Torres's goal drought in the league will end against Sunderland.

The last 761 minutes he's played in the league is evidence enough to assume he won't score.

Goals This Season - Torres (9), Rooney (5), Tevez (8), Aguero (7), Dzeko (7), Adebayor (1), Podolski (7), Giroud (7), Balotelli (3)#Chelsea

Well, that's quite interesting.

Torres has scored a goal for every 239 minutes he has been on the field.

Rooney has scored a goal for every 158 minutes he has been on the field.

Balotelli has scored a goal for every 239 minutes he has been on the field.

Tevez has scored a goal for every 172 minutes he has been on the field.

Aguero has scored a goal for every 167 minutes he has been on the field.

Dzeko has scored a goal for every 119 minutes he has been on the field

Podolski has scored a goal for every 208 minutes he has been on the field.

Giroud has scored a goal for every 236 minutes he has been on the field.

Adebayor has scored one goal for 408 minutes on the field.

Idont think there is any striker in the world who scores 1 per game so you may aswel give up on that just now.

I used to watch him for Liverpool quite often. He scored most games, or every other game when he was fit. Some sublime goals, some seemingly impossible, and back to back hat tricks. Yes, Torres really was that good.

Also worth pointing out that as a lone striker in a team that only has 2 strikers he should be scoring more. There are 4 city players on that list with a combined goal tally of 25...that's probably more than Torres in his entire Chelsea career

Since joining Chelsea in 2011, Fernando Torres has been in outstanding goal scoring form.

In his 2 years, he's averaged 5.5 league goals per calendar year and an almost unbeatable 2.75 league goals per manager. That makes his £50 million price tag look like a snip with the cost of each goal costing a bargain basement £4.5 million.

With Torres setting a personal best of 6 league goals last season, level with team mate John Terry, and goal scoring machine Thomas Vermaelen, he's looking to double that this season.

Since August, Torres has averaged 1 league goal per month, which puts him level with trivia buster Wayne Routledge, £350,000 Reading striker Adam Le Fondre, Fulham's 4th choice forward Mladen Petric and he's only 2 goals short of Championship legend Rickie Lambert's tally. With the season lasting a further 6 months, and if he can maintain his current form, it would be foolish to suggest Torres couldn't reach double figures this season.

33/1 Torres to be top scorer with Paddy Power.

Virtually all of City's strikers have better minute per goal ratio - only Balotelli has the exact same minutes per goal as Torres.

Torres is not back. Torres will never be "back." BUT, Torres has unfortunately with that performance pulled on Roman's heartstrings enough to make sure Torres stays past January...Everyone says Roman is the puppet master, but in reality we all know it is Torres.

On a positive side his movement was a million times better: He made runs, had crisp passes in the final third and had no problem shooting the ball for once. Now we just need him to be that confident when we are playing the likes of city or united...

Despite scoring two goals and producing an assist for another which accounted for 50% of the goals scored against Nords people are still slagging Torres. If anyone can get the best out of him surely it must be the man who brought him to the Premiership in the firs place - Benitez. Now that Rafa is at the Bridge I believe Torres will flourish and Mata and Hazard will be instructed to create more chances for him to score. I am looking forward to see how Torres performs against Sunderland this week end and will be disappointed if he doesn't score or create scoring chances for others.

I can tell you now don't hold your breath! Nords were playing without their best cb and then lost another in the game so they had to play with a makeshift cb

He scored against the worst team in our group, and you think he's back? He scored against a defense with a 36 year old centre back and a winger playing centre back. Oh that must be the Torres of old then..

It was good to see him make the runs, but he wouldn't have scored them goals versus any half decent side..

I'm rather inclined to agree. I knew Torres would bag a couple in this game despite his very poor goals return, because Norjaeslland's defence is so poor. He scored a brace against Leicester and a hat trick against QPR, remember?

I'm gonna need him to score a few in our next three games for me to believe he's back.

That is nowhere near enough games to decide whether he is "back" IMO. He has to redeem himself by consistently scoring throughout the rest of the season.

I can't get my head around some of the people in this thread, constantly mocking him, trying to force him out etc. He's our player and we know he'll more than likely never be 'back' and will never be the player we bought for £50million but he's still our player and I'll always will him to do well. Some of the things that have been said about him on here I wouldn't even say about players I dislike, let alone a player that plays for my team.

Basically all people are saying is that he won't be back to his best and it's unlikely he will score against any half decent teams.........................i don't see why you would get so annoyed by that.

It's more to do with things that have been said over the past few weeks by certain people, not just after Wednesday's game. I've got no problem with anyone being skeptical because everybody including myself is.

Not sure how you can compare one strikers goal return with an opposing teams 4 strikers total goal return?

The total minutes on the pitch for the 4 City strikers would be far more than Torres and in that mix you also have penalty takers in Aguero and Tevez.

Torres says he needs more time and is trying to shift part of the blame onto Oscar  / Hazard.

Maybe he could look at his woeful first touch... or his constant running into opposition with the ball, or lack of hunger, or ability to take on a shot rather than the odd tap in. He wants to hang on to his mega money, he will never get the same wages again!

The past couple of games he has looked sharper no doubt about it.....I hope he will start firing again but I am not getting any hopes up for a big run.

I still think we need to offload him at the first opportunity and do a serious trade up. We need a few options at least.
