From Todays telegraph....Article titled, "When Torres was good". Just shows how far he has fallen, just look at his acceleration to get past Ben Haim (who while not the quickest, i reckon would beat torres now)

How to get the best out of Fernando Torres?

Teach him to smile and give him a job as a cheerleader. That would at least appease those fans (Chelsea and others) who consider that the team would look prettier in pink.

Give me Birgit Prinz, grandma or Heskey before him. It really is like playing with ten men for 90 minutes most of the time.

Haha, get's worse and worse every week, looks that far off scoring, 2 shots within 13 yards or so straight at the keeper.

I hope he leaves just so this thread gets shut down, he didn't play better or worse than any of our other players today

Supposedly he is our top payed player; most experienced player on the pitch; supposedly our automatic first choice striker - 4 chances to score 3 of them were clear cut chances - goal scored zilch.

If we had an inform striker RdM would still be at the helm

*paid and i'm sure he isn't missing on purpose. And he isn't to blame for RDM's sacking, Roman does what he wants.

That's not the point, he was the one that went to our management after the CL Final demanding to be first choice. He pushed Anelka; Drogba out of the club. Due to most likely needing to play him 90 minutes every match Lukaku decided to go out on loan because he would get no chance here. Due to Torres we couldn't go after Falcao; Kun; in past years. Due to Torres we didn't sign another striker in the summer. Due to Torres Sturridge has only 200 minutes up top.

5 goals that were game changing since arriving - 2 years. Sturridge had 9 in half a season last year

I just.............just don't care anymore.

This is my point, it just doesn't matter, a lot of people seem to focus on Torres game after game. He is playing for us, we have no other out and out strikers so there is nothing anyone can do.

Due to Torres we won the Champions League, no corner, no Didier goal.

Is there someone we can speak to about the removal of Torres from the starting line-up? I'd be all for a sign campaign to get the message across. Nothing against him, he never really wanted to be here. But still, it's gone on for nearly two years now and I've had enough of it as I'm sure we all have. I miss Eidur Gudjohnsen, that was a real striker!

Got to the point where I'm hoping he picks up an injury just so he doesn't play.

Wasn't exceptionally bad today, just his usual terrible self.

It's ironic that when he was good, he was also injury prone. Now that he's woefully out-of-form, he's available for nigh-on every game.

Hollow laughter indeed.

Its a shame we loaned Bamford out as, when Sturridge is injured (which he has been a fair bit recently), he is a far better option than Torres. I would rather start Feruz than Torres. They may have zero experience at this level but at least they'd run around and make a nuisance of themselves. And if they got a chance there's a higher probability that they'd find the back of the net.

Today wasn't Torres' worst game but he clearly cannot finish. He had 2 golden opportunities today that he hit straight at the keeper both times. In this form he is a complete waste of space. Its almost like starting with 10 men.

So you're saying if we hadn't got that corner, that led to the goal, we still would have won? You can't pick and choose.
