Just to be clear I would hate for him to go to Arsenal, just thinking about it makes me physically ill. But the club showed zero loyalty to him when faced with a younger upgrade and Pete has given me so much joy over the years that werever he will go I will respect his decision

How about people show respect to a guy who served UA amazingly, nearly died for us on a pitch and whom we've replaced by letting him go where he wishes. Plenty of players have moved to rival clubs like this in the past so why a tiny minority of fans think he should go abroad because they can't bear to see him at arsenal I don't know.

Surely he's earned that hasn't he?

How about you understand not everyone HAS to have the same viewpoint as you?

Well that's not a million miles from what I've always said. Why were we even arguing lol.

You can't blame Petr for wanting first team football, he's much too good to warm a bench and play cup games. Selling him to the gooners will be on the Club not Cech.

Of course people don't and that difference of opinions is where discussion arises...this is a forum so why you felt the need to state the bleeding obvious is beyond me.

I wasn't direct though and there aren't many examples. I personally don't think it's unreasonable expectation. If he goes to arsenal so be it, I'd prefer him not to, as im sure he would have plenty of options, others don't care. Fair enough, I just don't see why people are speculating on how his kids feel.

I think we all would prefer him not to go to a rival, but I and others wouldn't begrudge him and would understand if he does.

I totally agree with that, and I wouldnt begruse him going there if he had no other options, but I'd also like to think that havine spent 10 years here, he would have serious reservations about going there. It's just my opinion, it's not right or wrong, it's just different. I'm sure we will both be happier if he doesn't end up there!

I agree that he has earnt the right to go where he wants but we really have to consider being more selfish as a club. We are helping arsenal with one of their biggest weaknesses in their teams.

Where do we draw the line? If we get Verane (hypothetically) and we have no need for say Ivan, do we let them have Ivan for cut price? With those two additions Arsenal would look very strong and possibly only a cdm from being a real threat.

I'm against selling to rivals but if its at the right price and if it won't com back to bite us I can accept it, for that price and for the improvement it would make to their team I just don't see how it makes any sense whatsoever, especially considering there would be other offers on the table, either force Arsenal to make the highest bid or upset Cech.

Won't be happy with the club or big Pete if he goes to Arsenal, especially for that paltry sum.

Plenty of big clubs abroad that would take him, surely he'd be perfect at a club like PSG or Real who need a keeper upgrade.

I can't believe we are willing to sell Cech to Arsenal, it's f**king Arsenal for christ sake. This would improve them far too much, why the hell would we want to do that ?

He owes us nothing.... Like SFL, we chose to drop him

But it's such a kick in the teeth to the fans. We have supported Cech for years, him going to play for those pricks shows no loyalty to the Chelsea fans when we have got behind him for years. If Cech had any loyalty or love for Chelsea fans he wouldn't ever want to join them, it's Arsenal.

I hope this story is bullsh*t to be honest.

I don't feel kicked in the teeth. We supported him and he repaid us with a decade of service, giving us great moments along the way.

Now WE'VE chosen to replace him (where's the loyalty in that? Are you picketing the Bridge because we're playing Courtois over him??) and he's quite respectfully accepted that decision without making a fuss, even doing a job for us in the Arsenal match when called upon. He's too good and quite frankly, too expensive to be a backup keeper for us and he should be allowed to leave.

If Arsenal are the only viable choice (that takes account of ability to afford him and being an attractive option to him and his family) then I would thank him and wish him good health in the future. I wouldn't be happy about him being an Arsenal player but I certainly wouldn't sink to the level of questioning his loyalty. He's still the same man who pulled off heroics in Munich and if I didn't have the temerity to question his loyalty then I certainly wouldn't now.

Perfectly put for my own opinion too. Thats exactly my feeling on the matter.

To be honest, i am just tired of seeing some of our greatest players joining clubs the fans hate or our directs rivals. Joe Cole to Liverpool, Mata to United, Lampard to City and now possibly Cech to Arsenal, f**king Arsenal of all clubs, it doesn't get much worse than that.

The Cech and Courtois thing has nothing to do with us fans, that is a decision made by Mourinho. Us fans shouldn't have to pay for that by seeing one of our greatest ever players join those lot.

If players had any love for the fans that have supported them over the years i don't understand why they would want to hurt them by playing for one of their direct rivals or clubs that they hate.

Just imagine if Terry came out and said he wanted to join Arsenal, this to me is almost as bad.

Spot on Scott.

I'm sick of seeing our better players jumping ship to our rivals. The fact we as a club seem quite content with it is even worse.

We might as well not have any rivalries if we are happy about players moving about freely to our direct and local rivals, it will become like Seria A which has next to no loyalty as a league.

There is no loyalty in football any more, so this is no surprise if it happens.

Playing for the same club for over 10 years and winning every trophy is pretty loyal, no?

Yeah right, players should just sit on the bench and not find a new employer, because the supporters might not like the new employer

Did i say that ? no i didn't, so stop twisting things.

Exactly. For years supporters have cheered for Cech and as soon as he's looking to move on to play football people call his loyalty into question.

Where is the loyalty nowadays?

(Or is that not what you meant?)
