The legend worshipers will be de livid but Cech needs serious competition or more probably moving on.The reflexes are not the same anymore,we have seen the bwst of him.I dont want to see him go the same way as SFL ,just another old boy getting a favour from the manager.

It's like people forget the other games where he performs brilliantly. Jaaskelainen made a mistake for West Ham yesterday, do you think they are asking for him to be replaced ? Keepers, like outfield players, are allowed to make mistakes. Cech rarely makes mistakes like this and has been one of our most inform players in the last 3 or 4 seasons. This is Cech's 10th season at the club, you couldn't find another goalkeeper who has made less howlers than him in that time.

 

If Courtois ever does get a chance i fear for him if he makes a mistake.

The truth is thuth is that Cech never has reached the levels he had before the injury,thats why I hate Hunt.You have know when to let go,sorry but Cech is on his way down.

I'm not sure why it's being assumed that some people want Courtois over Cech based on just yesterday?

Petr Cech is a fantastic goalkeeper and a fantastic servant to Chelsea. Unfortunately elements of his game haven't quite been the same since his injury, but there is no questioning his ability.

The reality is we have a young goalkeeper who has the potential to be the best in the world (he's probably in the top 5 already) and you can't afford to let talent like that slip through. Look what happened to Cudicini when Cech came, I'm sure people felt the same way then, but looking back what a decision that was!

We can't have both because Courtois certainly doesn't want to play second fiddle. Courtois for me.

No professional player would or should ever be happy playing second fiddle. Cech is not someone who will sit on the bench when he knows he is good enough to start for any top club in europe. PS. we can afford to lose him, because we have Cech.

they obviously weren't watching us win the champions league, when he was just as huge as drogba...cech is still quality, every keeper makes errors...

 

however, I don't want us to lose courtois...it pains me to say it, but I would like to see courtois as no.1 sooner rather than later...Chelsea has to come first and he is just too good and too young to be allowed to strengthen a European rival

He won't wait that long, he'll be off to barca...his contract expires 2016 and he refused to sign a new on in the summer cos he wants to see what Chelsea's plans are first...if he's bombed out on loan again, I think chelsea will find it hard to keep him

I don't want to just throw Courtois into the first team as soon as he returns. He has never played in a league as physical as the Premier League before and no matter how good he is it's going to take time to adapt.

We need Courtois back next year to battle with Cech. Lets face it, there's no way Mark would start unlesss Cech is injured or have a string of Joe Hart type of games. Mark is good, but not here to challenge Cech. If Courtois believes his ability, he should come back and fight his spot next year

It would be detrimental to both keepers and the team. Goalkeeper isn't a position you rotate.

Again Terry is a good CB now,but is he really the same player as 5 years ago?Look at the goals we conceded and you will find he has fair share of blame.SFL shouldnt be even on the bench,if he isnt even half of player he was.He is only playing because JM still thinks is 2004.

The same muppets who never rated Terry, Lampard or Drogba either. Who cares what they think? Cech is massively underappreciated, including by some of our own fans, who seemingly can't wait to ditch the best keeper we've ever had (and still among the best in the world) because they think the grass is greener somewhere else.

Whilst I love big Petr......he was poor at the weekend, that second goal was as soft a goal as you'll ever see. There's been quite a few goals this season where I've thought, come on Pete you could have had that.

Some days he is razor sharp and looks fantastic, but his mistakes seem to be more common these days

If his blunders continue at a rapid pace I wouldn't be against the idea of bringing Courtois back next season and let them battle it out.

We'd have to be fairly confident that Courtois would do better before making the move....this season will be rather telling.

Courtois has no reason to put his career on hold, and I agree Cech has been the best in the world, but lets face it the only way you can go from the top is down, and look I've said this many times, Cech is an absolute god and one of the most legendary players for Chelsea in our history, but how can one say that we should keep Cech for another 2 years and let Courtois go based on what Cech has done for us in the past.

 

Many great players have remained gods at football clubs because they knew when to step down, take Drogba for instance. He left at the absolute peak a professional footballer could be at club level, with the champions league trophy, if he had stayed for another season and scored only like 6-7 goals what would our impression of him be then, still legend, but not as much, yes? You must admit it.

 

It's a question that will always raise controversy and will infinitely have 2 sides to it. But common sense sees that we may have to make a bit of a sacrifice in order to gain another keeper that for the next 15 years has every possibility to become the best in the world by a long shot.

 

Courtois all the way for me, that doesn't mean I don't honour Cech, Cech is a god.

So in 8 years time when the next big thing comes along do we just ditch Courtois as well and so on and so on? Just because you have the next big thing doesnt mean he is ready to take the top spot.

VDS didnt have a life threatening injury that puts him at risk everytime he plays

De Gea was never the best keeper in spain like Courtois, and inspite of his 'flopping around' in his first year, hes now one of the best keepers in the league

I dont think he is that great at all. Its only because he plays at United that it makes him look better than he is.
